That is great TheO! I'm so glad your provider was able to set it up in time.
I hope that your DN can go back to work AND stay safe soon, or at least that she's getting paid. From your post it's hard for me to understand whether they are trying to do her a favor or whether it's an excuse.
Same here with our cleaner who comes on Thursdays, I called her tonight, and need to get the check in the mail very soon.

Niece is not getting paid. I don't truly understand why she is furloughed. Effective today, the governor said no more elective surgery, but the hospital already had that in place. Niece talked a lot about she doesn't have enough seniority (18 years) and others beat her out to stay.
The hospital and the clinic are commonly owned. They are cutting way back on patients being seen so they want to cut way back on employees is my guess. If it's not an emergency, they don't want people in the office or the hospital.
Heard back from cleaner. She said if I was hurting for money, not to send a check. I told her my pension should continue as is and will mail it on the 1st of April. She was very happy.
Because of the pension, I'm not sure I will receive the stimulus check. If it shows up, it does.

That's just crazy about your niece TheO. I'm sorry.
Given what's happening here, my guess is that she'll be called back in very soon. Doesn't make it right though.
This weekend - take Coursera course - build Job 2 writing course - recommendation letter

My mom is a surgery nurse on the vasculsr/cardiac team. She did vascular only for a bunch of years. Her surgeon quit and they combined the teams. She worked on a nursing floor answering phone calls from families yesterday. She was ICU before moving to surgery so they can move her there too.

She said they don't want to move her to another position because both her husband and daughter are high risk for covid19. Between that and her lack of seniority, she's the one with no hours right no. She is one of the few who likes to work on eye surgery. If they have any emergency eye surgery, which does happen, she could get called in for those.
I hope they figure out a resolution so she can go back to work. She doesn't know if she qualifies for unemployment. I suggested she talk to HR.

saveinla, that's wonderful news about your dad! Wishing both you & your dad continued healing. We're working steadily to get ready to move. Unfortunately, the entire real estate system is breaking down here because of the virus. You can't even get an inspector right now before closing, and frankly, I don't blame them for not wanting to be going into other people's houses. We weren't sure before if we'd even get a decent price when putting our place on the market (due to the stock market chaos), & now it appears even if we can find a buyer, closing is going to be delayed. Oh well. It is what it is. If you know of anyone looking for a clean, newer home in FL, send me a PM. Well, back to work. At least I feel like we're better organized than the last time we did this.

I decided a few days ago that I couldn't stand being in this house alone....2 days at the VA per week just doesn't help fill the hours of loneliness and the silence is deafening. So... Since having a new puppy didn't work out, I bought a new sewing machine yesterday. I sold my old one and everything that went along with sewing and quilting but decided to not spend the $10K like I did a few years ago. Anyway, I'm looking forward to having something to do. I moved a desk from the sunroom to the front bedroom and it sits between 2 windows that look out into the front yard and the street. I'm going to be spending money to replenish my quilting supplies and still need to figure out where some of this items will go, but since it's MY house I guess I can put them wherever I want. I love sewing and sewing machines - what did you get? One of the things I am looking forward to is being able to set up my machine. Bad lupus pain today - as in I could barely hobble to the bathroom. I accidentally missed my morning meds yesterday but I don't recall it being this bad. I may need to go back on Celebrex - I'm off it due to mild stomach issues and also due to suspected issues with The Virus plus it's one they want me to cycle on and off of. I have a new med I'm almost ready to start for minimum of 12 weeks. Right now I see the pain specialists monthly and we are making great progress. Even though I try to remind myself how far I have come, the set backs are so frustrating. In a positive note, I emptied a box of papers yesterday - half to trash/shred and half to review. If I am up to it later I may go shred as the basket is over-full already. I love the accountability here and also value the understanding that it takes time. for this project, I will be going through boxes going back from 30-plus years of my life - my way of coping with "living life in the fast lane" was to pack/box stuff to deal with another time. Well, that other time is now. Plus there is stuff from my when both of my parents died, the house I grew up in and also grandparents house plus even my divorce. Thanks again for the support!

Still painting the trim in my house. It's turned out to be a really big project. I'm home anyway, so at least I'm accomplishing something.
The weather has finally started to warm up. We've been able to take a couple bike rides and it's nice to get some fresh air.
Hope everyone is holding up during this difficult time.

I bought a Bernina B 570. Had a Bernina LE about 8-9 years ago and sold it for $4k, this new one cost me $4K. Plan on using $1200 gift from the government and a nice interest payment that posted today, then the balance from my "just money" account. Expensive part is rebuying all the former quilting equipment I had.

saveinla- good news about your dad! I hope he continues to improve. Blonde Granny - my mom has toyed with the idea of getting a long arm machine but has nowhere to put it right now! Have fun with your new machine * Well, all the paperwork went through so the loan should be funded today. My cold is nearly gone and I applied for a free COVID test but was found to be "low risk" with my symptoms and exposure so hoping it's just been an ill timed cold. I am moving better than yesterday so even if my back is still black and blue I should be able to make my trip next week. I'll be taking all the precautions and staying pretty isolated while I'm out there. I've heard from a friend that airlines are not providing drinks or food on board unless required by law. Today I need to start calling contractors and setting up appointments for the quotes I need, again practicing social distancing. It feels weird to keep working toward this move but also like I've finished one chapter of the book and am ready to read the next one and can't just wait indefinitely. While I can stay with my parents longer, it's not a long term solution for us. Hope y'all are doing well!

startsmart -- It has been 14 years. My DH was much older than I and was diagnosed with cancer shortly after we returned home from Katrina. If you have anything you wish to know PM me and I will try to answer. Because of his profession he had some name recognition in his field and I prefer not to put that info on a public board. Thanks to all of you for the good wishes. I managed the day okay by keeping busy. It is part of my nature to throw myself into keeping busy when stressed. It doesn't stop the sadness but I have a good support team of friends who check on me on a regular basis. Blonde Granny -- Good for you getting a new machine. Things that make one happy is always good. Enjoy your new toy. startsmart -- Take care of yourself. And rest as much as you can before traveling. nidena -- Great news about the sale of your house. saveinla -- Wonderful news about your father. Sharon -- How is work on the house progressing? Will the siding be finished soon? debthaven -- Great news about the postponement of the play. With everything going on one less thing to worry about is always great. TheOtherMe -- Glad technology has made your medical visit possible. Works4me -- Every box done is one less to do later. Baby steps also get the job done just a little slower than one might wish. Take care of yourself. Iggy aka IG -- Take care of yourself. Posting this before I lose it.

I am now on day 13 (11 without human contact*) of social distancing. Have managed to keep busy each day with chores, crafts, and other things. (*within 6 feet -- DSS's visit on day 2)
Laundry and dishes are up to date. House is in good shape and is pretty organized as of now. I am beginning to revisit areas with the intent of getting rid of additional items. I find that on the second or third pass items no longer seem as relevant as they did on the first pass.
I finished the goal of all of the bracelets that I wanted to get done of that particular type. Started working on a another easy project that I usually try to sell at the craft shows. Also working on a making a project for me that will take some time to finish and I try to work on it a little each day. Squeezing little things in between major ones.
I still have plenty of items at home that I should not have to leave the house for another week or so. May try to get to the park to walk if the pollen eases up soon. Been doing a little on the back patio but it is small and not as good as the park will be.
One of my craft retreats has been rescheduled and I am waiting information on the other one. It is several months away so I expect something will be decided within the next several weeks.
The numbers in the area are continuing to rise and I expect they will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I will stay in place as long as needed. On the bright side, staying home is helping my budget as I am not a big online shopper.
Stay safe all!

That Zoom pie chart is hilarious! I took yesterday "off". We went for a walk to the supermarket and then I watched Netflix. France has extended confinement till 15 April. Not a surprise but since we had been planning to go to the UK for Easter weekend, it still made me sad. I'm guessing it will be extended again. This weekend- recommendation letter/Sat- Coursera class/Sat
- Coursera homework/Sat
- build Job 2 writing course - Shitepile

Even with youngest nephew being presumed to have COVID-19, stupid sister is still planning Easter. I have already told her that is a terrible idea and will not be attending.
She was exposed by him because he went to her house the day before he had symptoms. She is not self isolating and another son is coming home this weekend. Not wise at all. They will all be sick before it's over.

Yesterday was a long and very tiring day. The kids hadn't had naps in two days and they started siding my house. DGS finally crashed out after lunch and slept about 3 hours. I'm not sure how he was able to sleep since they were siding the outside of the room he was sleeping in. DGD wouldn't give it up, which we knew would happen. Anytime she gets comfortable and starts to relax she hops up and is off doing something else. She had multiple meltdowns all day long. I am planning on this weekend being a quiet one. I am just going to putter around the house some but if I just sit a lot that is okay too.

how are you all holding up? in isolation etc,? debthaven - how are things in France? I have an extremely exciting job prospect right now. It is academic at a top university with generous grant funding - I cannot even believe that I am being considered for this but I got an in with n unexpected personal recommendation. The lack of publications is going to really cost me - directly in terms of what I may be offered salary-wise and even title/track for the same role. The hiring process may take up to two months and maybe I can get a few things out there in time? Who knows what is happening with everything going on in the world. Even if I manage to clean up/edit/update/improve everything - what is happening with the journals - editors - all that? I've been sitting on so many research article in various stages and I'm sick to my stomach right now at what it may cost me for doing too much, trying too hard to do an impossible load of work for current crap-ass employer. Before this interview/opportunity arose - I was focusing on decluttering and organizing. But the first focus - for god knows why reason was to clear out the laundry area in the basement. A bunch of stuff that needed washing or was washed and folded was left down there for a very long time.....?? and everything needed rewashing. Basement is a bit scary so I have been clearing that out - much if it likely should have been donated or thrown out - Meanwhile - as I do a bunch of laundry everyday while working from home, everything else seems to have fallen to crap - so ugh!! So - I'm going to need to have some very aggressive career goals right now. I've continued to work on my RI project - last report is due on Monday - but could be end of day/midnight monday - so can take that as my deadline although I can't leave all the work until Monday because it is quite a bit - although not of the frustrating I can't program this type work. I also continue to have covid-19 symptoms. Mild but certainly my health is not 100% to tackle everything I need to and I can't work myself into a frenzy and pull a couple allnighters/halfnighters to pull everything off.... so need to come up with a plan. A cunning plan m'lord!.....

Also - due to us having exposure - housekeeper is not coming - so I tend to get very disorganized when no one is coming into the house for any reason. I need to have better habits, that is for sure. Been working 7 days a week since Feb 3rd. I was hoping to finish client report today and have Sunday off - but that can't happen now. Too much at stake. I need to finish up as much research as I can and send out. even though the response may not be there. need to finish RI project and bill. Ok - so here is my recent dilemma - would appreciate input... So - current employer is so much crap I can't even begin to put into word what's been happening. I've done way too much work for them week to week and none of it was worth it. No capital there. No appreciation. Nothing. So all my research is based on data from previous employer. Have spoken with old boss about how to thank/credit their support of the research - so that is all well and good. Have IRBs for most of the data, and a blanket data use agreement from the company, and written agreement in email on how to credit them/continued approval to use the data. I don't want to have current employer attached to this research. I'm thinking to LLC my RI work, and come up with a name and then I can publish under that company. I'm not sure how that would all work, maybe too amibitious time and energy wise right now? Having a side consulting biz is ok with potential new employer and I've been think about doing this for tax/insurance/liability, and then the idea to use it for my research occurred to me a few weeks ago. If I got a webpage for my biz and linked to research attached to it, could be really good for me? Was thinking of white papers for the website - but published research would be a good addition/maybe better? IDK. As always - I am taking on way too much but Everything is so urgent right now....And there isn't any help anywhere for anything with all this isolation. I've been in a whirl since the interview yesterday. Ok - need to articulate the plan.....

My Family thinks I'm the stupid one! And crazy! Buying into that whole climate change hoax and all. Sometimes, I honestly can't figure out why I still talk to them. I got totally trolled on the covid front last time we were together. Out of blue for no apparent reason - sibling ask "are you worried about coronavirus?" I said - yes. and then they all were very smug and superior on how they were not worried. Then why ask? Somehow my seeing this as serious was some sick confirmation for them. I've been fighting down the urge to text - are you worried now?

I'm afraid way too many people are so firmly planted in their opinions, that they won't change them unless they're smacked upside the head with the consequences. Even then, some will deflect instead of recognizing the truth.
