startsmart -- So happy that you have completed the first stage of moving. Getting the house sold is a major first step. Take care of yourself. Good luck with your next stage. nikiz628 -- Your attic/playhouse is outstanding. The kids will have so much space there and you will free up some other area in your house. Iggy aka IG -- Stay safe. You just got better so lets keep it that way. debthaven -- glad that the online teaching is working. I can't believe that April is almost here either. Sharon -- Glad that the renovation is going well and even happy that the kids are thinking about moving 20 minutes closer to you. vetswife -- I also have trouble getting rid of several items that I should. Take your time with things. I am just beginning to get a little freer with eliminating items from the house. Every item out is one less that you will have to make a decision on in the future. I have gotten rid of things that I thought I had to keep just a few years ago. Tomorrow is the anniversary of DH passing. Always a hard day for me.

Moneysquirrel- hugs to you. How many years since DH passed? I’d love to read more about him if you’re up to it.
Thanks all for the cheers on the house! The buyers sign paperwork tomorrow and funding should come through by Friday (people not working makes that an unknown).
I did get a very nice email from the buyers today thanking me for the home manual I put together with all the details on fixtures, paint colors, flooring and appliances. They are very nice and I’m glad we closed this deal when we did because the realtors association in California has suggested no new listings, showings, open houses, or marketing while we are staying in place.
I am also feeling much better with my cold. I wear a mask when I have to go out but then just washing my hands 10x an hour.

Reduced enough paperwork and cheap to go from a large shipping to a banker size box so that's a start. One down, about 49 still to go. I've also done things like throwing away 5 or 6 old cords for my phone and Kindle. Once I really get going the dog and the SO better be careful because anything not nailed down just might be discarded one way or another.
It has been so crazy here with shelter in place. SO is working on flooring and paint and other things to get my little 1/1 home ready to sell or rent at market rate. He got here on 3/5 so almost three weeks ago and brought a guy that works for him. The guy is, to quote Money Pit, a "real work animal" but it's like dealing with a young teen who still needs adult supervision. Thankfully, he's staying over there - at least he's a clean freak so hopefully I won't have to hire professional cleaners.

Hey all! Looks like things are chugging along. My house is scheduled to close on Tuesday, next week, aka Mar 31st. My realtor texted me this morning that the appraisal came through as "good" which means "not less than the agreed upon price" but the appraiser found two safety things that I should fix. My realtor had already contacted her contractor and he's good with doing them AND good with getting paid at closing. I think I'm to expect the paperwork for me to sign in a few days but then I have to find a damn notary. nikiz628, do you know of any in the immediate area? I looked up the sister-office to the title company being used in DE and called them/left a voicemail but they're douche canoes and when they called me back, they didn't leave a message. I sent a message to my mortgage company, asking them if I need to make the April payment. Waiting to hear back from them. I've left the house, maybe, three times in as many weeks. For groceries. I've discovered that sleep is my alcohol. In a one bedroom, on bathroom apartment there is only so much cleaning a person can do. I did some laundry a few days ago but haven't put it away. Worked three shifts at the part-time before they closed the store until March 27th, which has been extended to April 4th now. However, I do one thing that is kind of cool. I launched my bra store website. It's extremely bare bones. You scroll for days to find your state BUT people can search for bra stores in their state/city. I launched early so that people could buy giftcards if they were able to financially with the intent of shopping later. This would give the stores a little financial support in this wacky time. If you're wanting to look: brashopdirectory.com The crappy hit hard yesterday. A cousin by marriage and someone I worked with the Air Force...two men, one in his 60s and the other in their 40s...both died this week. And neither can really receive any sort of family burial. It really sucks. Anyhow, that's the nidena-world as of late.

Nidea - the title company should send you a mobile notary for the signing, it’s part of their job! If you close mar 31 then you don’t pay April mortgage but again the title company will have the payoff numbers for you. Just my experience in the last week.
Well, I’m now unsure if I can make my trip. My mom left today to go to the other house and when I stepped out of the hot tub I slipped on the cement. Twisted my ankle, tore up a few fingers and landed hard on my back hitting the hot tub steps. It hurts like nothing I’ve ever experienced so I’m lying flat and icing it, trying to keep up with 4 dogs and not cry from the pain. I want to give it a few days to heal before assessing if I can make the trip. Right now a walk to the living room takes 20 min.

Ouch, sorry, startsmart . nidena , that's great news about closing on the sale, and I'm going right away to check out your website. I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. Even mourning is a challenge in the midst of a pandemic. ETA: For me, the web site worked great, nidena. Congratulations on the launch.

Are you saying they should send me the contact info? I'm not understanding. I heard again from my realtor. Supposedly, they sent the paperwork out, today, via overnight. She's going to follow up tomorrow and get a tracking number.

Oh no Startsmart! I hope you heal quickly! Do you have Arnica (witch hazel)? I find it really helps bruising. I signed up for the (free) Yale "The Science of Well-being" course offered by Coursera. The timing is not ideal because next week is hellish at work. But I'll probably enjoy it once work slows down. Last night was my last Skype rehearsal for the foreseeable future, we won't do the play till next fall or winter. That will free up 2-3 evenings a week. It's just so hard to concentrate these days. This week- mark 2 Job 2 final presentations/Wed - mark 2 MSc reports/Thurs- enter Job 2 marks/Thurs- enter MSc marks/ThursMini Project: Kitchen- 3 6 top cabinets (DH will do the top shelves) All caught up with work (for now) plus one more cabinet done. I also switched out/washed our bedding.

All,
I have some good news - after 5 days of not responding at all, my dad is awake and answering some questions. He is still in the hospital, but I am hoping he will get better soon, so he can go home safely. Thanks for all your wishes. Keeping my fingers crossed for better news ahead.

Maybe they will start putting the siding on today. I was hoping they would start yesterday, not sure why they didn't. I should consider myself lucky that they are even able to finish the job this soon. The lumber yard is no longer delivering materials. The contractor will have to go pick them up.
This part is my fault. I had decided shortly before we began the project that I also wanted to replace the front door and contacted a different contractor who I have worked with many times. He had my front door selection in my file etc. I also wanted this second contractor to finish some indoor work that I have been doing piece meal, as in when I have the cash I call them and they come out and do some more work. For whatever reason he is ghosting me. So the siding contractor said yes they could do the door etc. Now the door is in quarantine because two workers at the warehouse have tested positive for Corona Virus and the entire warehouse has to be disinfected. If I had dithered around on the door it would be here. They are going to install a contractor door so that the new frame can be installed and the siding properly done around the door. When my door gets out of quarantine they will just come and hang the new door on the hinges. Tomorrow I'm going to watch the Grandkids, since there daycare is closed for Spring break. Last night was spent cleaning so they can play without encountering things like random wood chips and screws. I knew this stuff was floating around but was kind of waiting until they were closer to done with the work to clean it all up.

I decided a few days ago that I couldn't stand being in this house alone....2 days at the VA per week just doesn't help fill the hours of loneliness and the silence is deafening. So...
Since having a new puppy didn't work out, I bought a new sewing machine yesterday. I sold my old one and everything that went along with sewing and quilting but decided to not spend the $10K like I did a few years ago.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to having something to do. I moved a desk from the sunroom to the front bedroom and it sits between 2 windows that look out into the front yard and the street.
I'm going to be spending money to replenish my quilting supplies and still need to figure out where some of this items will go, but since it's MY house I guess I can put them wherever I want.

Good news! Received the paperwork today. But there was no information for a notary in it; only that it needs to be witnessed by and notarized. I imagine it's the Delaware vs Indiana thing that prevents them from sending anyone. Anyhow, I found a website called Thumbtack that helps locate with specialists within my area and sent a message to a couple people listed. I also contacted the local Old Republic Title again and selected a different person to contact. That's all been within the past 50 minutes so, fingers crossed that I hear from SOMEONE in the next day or so.

nidena, will your bank notarize documents? That's where we go. startsmart, I am sorry to hear about your fall. Hope the pain subsides quickly. Sharon, glad you get to see the grandkids! Stay at home order was placed statewide as of 6 this morning. I'm considered an essential service, so I'm here at the office. I'm grateful to be able to leave the house.

Take good care of yourself Iggy.
DH printed out the new "permission slips" you need to leave the house. Turns out they DO allow people from the same household to "exercise" together! It'll be nice to take a walk together tomorrow. Also, Job 1 orals for prospective students were cancelled today. I'm sure Job 2 will follow suit. I earn a significant amount doing those orals. I know that's a first-world problem right now.

My bank has bricks and mortar in Texas only. It's all good. I found someone through Thumbtack. They'll be by this evening and then I'll go hit the FedEx dropoff location just up the street. Having the paperwork in hand makes me feel much better. I know that I'll do my part very quickly and they'll have the paperwork in time for closing on Tuesday. I'll cancel my mortgage payment for Wed since all that will go through before their late date.

TheO how are you doing? Were you able to have your online consultation today? Thinking of you. Yes I now have used Zoom. All of the appointments through April will be through Zoom. It helped and she strongly urged me to limit my consumption of covid19 news and the anxiety of others. So I started a thread for the anxiety because anxiety is not the same thing as depression. I talked to my niece today. She is furloughed for the foreseeable future. She does retain her health insurance. The hospital did a survey. She has two high risk people in her home (hubby has type 1 diabetes and daughter has asthma). The hospital does not want her in the building for fear of her taking it home to them. Between that and seniority, she found herself furloughed. From talking to therapist, they only have one or two receptionists in her office at a time to handle phone calls. They usually have 5. They are seeing very few patients in the office and want to limit the exposure of the non-medical people. She said they are mostly using nurses to answer the phones there. I only need to call if I have technical difficulties with Zoom or if I need to talk to her. I told her where my mind is today and she is concerned but it's not a crisis yet.

I did send a text message to my house cleaner. I don't want 3 people here next week cleaning my house. I told her I want to pay her but I don't have an address. Will call her this evening if I don't hear back.

Will call her this evening if I don't hear back. I am going to let my cleaner come, but just to pay her for the next 2 visits and send her home - without having her clean. I have had a lung infection recently and have not ventured out in almost 2 weeks. I am still having to use my inhaler twice a day and I have never used an inhaler before that. I will ask if I can send a check if the stay at home extends after that. Her husband is disabled and she is the one that works.
