I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Just stopping in to say a few things........
Looks like this is my final week playing here for most of next year.
I am going to be volunteering my time and energy for most of the new year (if it works out well for me)
I will not be able to be spending time on the board........which makes me feel bad. I have made many internet friends here over the years, and hopefully I will be back late next year.
Just want to wish everyone here on the investing boards a happy new year, and stay healthy and prosperous.
I will probably be around until the end of next week.
I should be able to check in once in awhile, but will stay pretty quiet on the boards.......

P.S. Keep investing! I think next year will be a great one until late summer when people start thinking of the fall election results
And if anyone wondered, no health or personal issues for family involved........I only am telling you this because it seems some people just go "poof" and we never know why.
Some are obviously health reasons......others because they just get upset with the boards or a poster or two

I looked at the wrong symbols earlier....it was last week's pick that went down that much.  That would have been a great one to go short on.

This post has nothing to do with this week's picks, but darn, I missed this one, and stopped watching it early this year.
Check out Rite Aid, ticker RAD.
This stock was mid single digit this year and jumped to $9 a share a quarter ago, then reported recently and skyrocketed all last week and this week.
I felt this stock was dead money and investing community saw little future in the drugstore business for them....
And my personal holding, WBA has been dead money for me......

I used to work for Rite Aid...managed 3 different stores at different times.  Only one store was making money & that was due to all the medicade scripts that it got.  I got a bigger bonus than any other store in my district cause I kept my expenses way down, but we never ran out of any supplies either.  Other stores used to come get script bottles from us cause they knew I'd have them on hand.
Could all this be due to Walgreens buying many Rite Aid stores?  The RA here in our little town closed shortly after the new Walgreens opened....and the one in the next town has changed all the signs from RA to Wal.  One in another little town not too far away also closed...don't know if a Walgreens opened there or not.

kadee, as far as I can tell RAD is up dramatically because of better than expected earnings numbers and this stock was heavily shorted by professional traders.
Most investment companies place the value of the stock in the $7 range as of yesterday and it is trading in the $22 range because traders are caught in a classic short squeeze, where current owners are not selling many shares right now, and the shorts want to get out and have to buy their positions back.
Tesla is doing the same thing right now setting new highs and the shorts are stuck buying at these prices to clear their positions before they lose even more money.
Based on profesionals following RAD the professionals do not expect the price to stay up in this price range.....
