It seem that when I do a good deed, something better comes my way. A couple of examples. a while back we went out to dinner, after dinner I paid in cash , the girl gave me too much change back, $20, to much. I said I think you made a mistake here, you gave $20 to much, the look on her face was like that was grocery's that night. Two days later i received a call from a customer , that told me I had not included $750 for a piece of equipment that I had installed on a much larger project. Last week I had received a shipment of parts, opened the Friday, realized that there was two complete shipments there! I had paid for one. This was thru Amazon, I contacted the supplier,
who told me they were not to communicate with me thru Amazon, it was against Amazon rules, I looked them up on the internet contacted them, paid for the extra shipment! This afternoon I received a text message to come over to a customer place, when I got there he gave me a $20,000 check I was not expecting, I thought I was financing the job!! Wooooo Hooooo I guess not! Yea, I believe in Karma!

I don't believe in karma, positive or negative. I do think if you're an honest person that you're more likely to associate with honest people and disassociate with dishonest ones though...which might not be too far off of the idea of "karma". I also think the opposite, if you're a shitty person you're more likely to associate with other shitty people, and to put yourself in bad situations where you're going to get the short end of the stick.

There is a theory out there that life is a series of coincidences, and we as humans try to tie things together to make them easier to deal with. We love to understand some level of cause and effect, and if the cause isn't satisfying enough, we look for a cause that is. We also like to believe that the good thing we did got a reward because clearly the universe recognizes that we are superior people, and rewards us as such.
I can't prove it is or is not a good theory, but it is has some potential.

I believe in karma, I do believe what comes around goes around. We have been so fortunate in our lives that must be some of it.

Not really. I know really good people who have had to deal consistently with some pretty horrific crap through no obvious fault of their own. I’ve known completely self-involved people who never consider others that seem to live a charmed life.
I’m probably somewhere in the middle. I look out for my own interest but not at the expense of intentionally screwing others over. I have a decent life that I think can be attributed to making decent choices and associating with decent people. I can’t tie any particular good or bad outcome to any random kind or unkind action I had performed previously.

We feel we always had a blessed life. I'm not saying there was never hardships, but things could always be worse. If your honest and kind, then kindness follows you.

I do believe what goes around comes around. If you're decent to other people, it will come back to you. I've also witnessed people who weren't so nice getting just desserts. It IS interesting to watch...

I don't believe karma involves little things like that--only the big things.

It's easy to believe in this kind of magical thinking. And perhaps a way for people to be self-congratulatory on their good fortune and feel that they have somehow earned it. They deserve it. abc7chicago.com/man-charged-in-uic-students-murder-was-angry-that-he-was-being-ignored-prosecutors/5719715/We are reeling from this terrible holiday tragedy in Chicago. My daughter and her friends are completely torn apart as this is their alma mater and it could so easily have happened to them. One works at the university and knows the people who found the body. What did this lovely young 19 year old do to deserve this gruesome end? Talk to her parents about how what goes around comes around.

Not really as it's not part of the Christian teachings. I agree with the concept of associating with kind, honest people and being a kind, honest person will create a personal world of kindness and honesty.

I do not believe in karma. If there's good karma, then there's bad karma, and I see too many assholes leading a charmed life.

You may call someone an asshole and they may be to some extent, but at the same time you may not know all the details of what good they do also. You don't have to be a saint to have good fortune you have to have good intentions to others to reap the benefits. So many will take what little they know about a person and put pure hatred to them without knowing the details. I personally think way too many people abuse the welfare system, but i don't think those who do shouldn't have good things happen to them if they are good to others. It may seem contradictory, but people don't have to be a saint, or the devil to have good or bad karma.

You create your own "karma".

A brief description of my beliefs: Christian, but also believe in reincarnation. (Heaven and hell only makes any sense to me in a metaphorical sense.) Purpose is to experience life in wide variety of forms, and karma can go from life to life. I think it's really hard to believe in karma within the scope of a single life, and I'm surprised so many say they do.

Be careful of appearances. DD’s sperm donor seems to have it all. But he told DD he couldn’t quit drinking because his latest live in is also an alcoholic. I saw a picture of him. He’s fat, bald, and a mess. I saw his roommate, every post she’s at some bar. She looks hard. The way an alcoholic woman would look. I never thought I’d feel sorry for him but I do. He’s his own worst enemy.

Not really as it's not part of the Christian teachings. I agree with the concept of associating with kind, honest people and being a kind, honest person will create a personal world of kindness and honesty. Isn’t there something in there about reaping what you sow? I kinda do believe in karma, reaping what you sow, that what you put out there in the world is what will come back to you, something along those lines or a mish mash of all three. And I still believe and understand that bad things do happen to good people. I also believe that what we see in the world and how we interpret others’ behaviors and actions, and what we expect them to do in certain circumstances or at any given time, is often a reflection of who we are moreso than what the world is really like and who an individual really is and what they would really do. I’ve thought about a lot of this stuff...... a lot. And it still gets confusing to me, as my thoughts are all over the place, like this post is. At the end of the day though, I believe that being kind and honest, treating people how I’d like them to treat me (until and unless I feel like I should give them what they’re asking for....... I’m not good at turning the other cheek lol) will serve me well and bring good things into my life.

I believe in God and the Trinity, and also Karma and some other similar concepts. It's hard to explain to someone else, but I know that it's the right belief system for me.

Sounds like a lot of people have a smorgasbord-like collection of varied explanations of why life is so random.

I don’t know how anyone can watch Schindlers List or the real footage taken by the allies at concentration camps when they were liberated and still believe in good karma. What a charmed life we live when we are born during a certain time within certain borders.
