We got a Roomba from Costco about 3 months ago. TD rolled his eyes at it, but he named it R2D2 and is utterly fascinated by it.
R2D2 runs every morning at 9. We tried it at 3 am, but it is too noisy. Every single day, it is full of dog and cat fur. I have not seen a dog fur tumbleweed float down the hall since we got it. It has definitely turned TD into a convert!
Sometimes R2D2 gets lost and runs out of juice, but only about 20% of the time. Usually he makes it home.

I was just asked a few weeks ago and went blank at that time. Since than here is what I came up with -- A tune up for my bike new tires for my car -- or a gift card from the local tire place for part of the amount. How about a gift card for books on your kindle? My second bike just got stolen so I'm staying away from those! Gift card might work, though I pretty much stick to kindle unlimited and books from my library. But I have to pay for unlimited one way (buying by year is cheaper).

This is going to sound totally boring, but u drew ear and socks. The only problem with this trite gift is that the underwear is from Duluth and the socks are from Bombas. Both cost waaaay more per item than I have ever paid, but I have turned into a believer. I just recently replaced most of my underwear. A mix of puma, Reebok, and some random brand at Costco. Socks are on my list though! Have you tried other stuff from Duluth? I've seen their ads for the tank tops that don't ride up and yoga pants that are more durable and I'm intrigued, but haven't met anyone that tried em.

Do you have a Roomba? Target has one on Black Friday for $199. I may try to buy it for myself. No, I mentioned that and my mom replied I don't keep stuff off my floor enough... which is not entirely wrong, but I'm trying to rectify.

justme, what about getting your vehicle detailed? Is that more than just a wash and vacuum? My cars a 2008 so I'm not super invested in it being pretty. I probably clean it two or three times a year 😂😣

IMHO, roombas are awesome for people who aren't tidy (me). Yes sweeping or vacuuming is more efficient and effective, but there is a reason I'm looking for a robot to do it for me. That reason is that it is better than nothing. Also the roomba goes under the futon in the office. That level of effort is reserved for deep cleaning. Because the roomba will do it on a schedule where I'll put it off until it bothers me enough to do!

My brother's very into the instapot. I just don't get it. I also don't want to learn how to use another machine. It just seems like a lot of money to cook things I already am able to cook.

I have a couple of t shirts on order with their long tail, so can’t tell you how they are until I get them. TD buys their t shirts and pants, and wears them almost exclusively. I just bought a few pair of yoga pants from Talbots. I bought 2 pair last year to wear on long haul flights, and I went back and bought another 2 pairs. They have worn very well, and are comfortable.

I have a friend that swears by Rough Linen sheets. They sound awesome but I’m too cheap to spend $150 on a fitted sheet alone. Maybe some more upscale bedding?
Another acquaintance loves some subscription organic cleaning supply company and looks forward to it every month. Nice idea, and I could probably use the reminder to corral the dust bunnies, but unfortunately I simply don’t clean enough to merit a subscription service. Might be a good option if cleaning is your thing. If it’s not, maybe a housekeeper to do a deep clean?
A subscription to a clothing styling box like Stitch Fix?

Omg I don't know if I could spend that much on sheets! I got really nice real leather booties for less than that!!! Cleaning is definitely not my thing. My mom legit asked me if the money was enough to pay someone to come help my ADD ass out, and unfortunately not. My friend swears by stitch fix. I'm just afraid that they won't have stuff for tall people. I say I'm 5'10 but my last doctor's appt said I was 5'11 something. I really don't want to pay to consistently get stuff not the right size.

justme Yes, they do. They look so good on. Better than my regular dress pants. And so, so comfortable. I wash and hang mine. They have a few styles- I buy classic dress pant, straight leg. You'll throw away all your other pants! We have a pretty conservative dress code at work, and no one blinks an eye.

Do I understand that you can't think of a gift you would like for under $200? Seriously? I get that. If I want it I have it. If I don’t have it I’ve managed to live without it. I’d be in the group suggesting a donation to charity rather than enriching China. Heck, many books are even printed in China. Hard to escape.

Okay, then, Roombas and such aside, Christmas Eve is one month away. I want chocolate and plenty of it, gift cards for the garden center so I can buy bedding plants in the spring, and a four-season porch built onto the back of the Hovel. TYIA

I saw a meme on FB that expresses my wants:
An enduring purpose to life, financial security, peace, a good night's sleep and also some new bras would be nice plus a decent bottle of wine.

I'm not a cooking gadget person so I sat on the fence a long time before buying an InstantPot. I'm definitely not part of the Pot Head cult that owns 3-4 and uses them every day, but I did ditch my slow cooker. Like all other appliances, the Pot is great at some things and sucks at others. No, it's not for an herb-crusted, rare prime rib. The InstantPot is really good at some things like soups, stews, dried beans, collard greens, beef tongue, gumbo, risotto, curries, pork loin roast, etc. And I hear it's good at a lot of things that we simply don't cook like pasta Alfredo or cheesecake. Just look at what you enjoy and cook before buying.

DH and I talked about what we each wanted for Christmas, and neither of us wants any more stuff.
He purchased dinner tickets for us for the Sunday between Christmas and New Years. Medieval Times. I've been to one many years ago but he hasn't. We are taking some friends and it will be a great time for us.
We are old enough now that we want experiences and memories.
