Such a fun thread!!! Younger self would berate me for not having gotten my PhD (in Lit) and also for not having written a novel (but not just any novel ... the greatest American novel of the century.) When I was 25 years younger, and raising young kids, my former neighbor (a nurse anesthetist married to a very prominent orthopedic surgeon) told me, the thing I am most proud of is my children's relationship with each other. At the time, I did NOT get it (but of course I was too polite to tell her that!) Today I feel exactly the same way. My DS2 and DS3 are currently visiting my DS1 in MA. I keep getting photos and videos of them horsing around with each other and with their nephew/our grandson. Their closeness brings us such joy. But yeah, my younger self would definitely think I am a failure.

Oh my goodness. This is a fun question. Although kind of a bummer because my younger self would be incredibly disappointed in me!

She would have said, "too bad you didn't get our stuff together sooner" and "what the hell were you expecting, miracles?" Or maybe that's my mother's voice and my earlier self would have said, "No *&%@?, I thought you would figure it out someday" and "good job, keep on keeping on"

Oh, girl! Your weight! Didn't you see this coming? Congrats on picking the right husband; 32 yrs!
Good job on the kids. Three collage grads! What about you? Any chance you'll even TRY for an Associate Degree?
Keep up with the prayer life. You're better, calmer, and clearer thinking when you have a prayer routine.
Let's keep in touch ❤️.

Thinking about this some more, I never thought I'd live to be this old. I always thought I'd have a girl, and get at least a master's degree, going to a big-name college, far from home. I was a great student in high school, but started getting bouts of depression. I was also a lot more creative when I was younger. The ordeal with my mom has pretty much killed that part of me.
Younger me would not even recognize current me. I thought I'd have it all together when I got to be an adult. I do have a whole lot more of not giving a shit what other people think. Hopefully that's a good thing!

Younger self: What happened to all my friends? Current self: I hate everyone, including friends.

I think my younger self will be pleased to learn I married a hottie and turned out nothing like my mom when it comes to money and finances. Younger self would think it's crazy how much I look like her now. Younger self probably think I'm a sellout for living in the burbs and not being a journalist living in a city somewhere, but at least I'm an editor working in Philly, so there's that. Younger self was a political geek and would be happy to see current self is still a political geek and involved. There are a bunch of people out there who say that creativity can be re-born, learned and/or nurtured back to more of a "young people" level. They have some exercises that work your creative muscle. It is apparently good for your brain and your mood. What type of "creative" things did you do? Maybe you can spark yourself into a creative, happy state of mind. One of the exercises was to make 30 or 60 photocopies of any image you want and take one minute for each (set a timer) and modify the image differently on every one. I thought that sounded like fun, but I can't draw to save my life. I might do it anyway, as it isn't about the finished product, but about creating 60 different ideas in 60 minutes, all spouting from the same thing. You could probably do it with writing too. Take a couple of sentences that start a short story, and give yourself 3 or 5 minutes each to write 20 different endings, or something.

My younger self wouldn't be able to stand my current self.
That's not to say anything about the age difference, changes, etc.
It's just that two of me in the same room would not go well. My personality doesn't mesh well with the same/similar personalities.

I think my younger self was probably kind of an idiot. I'm not sure I have any interest in her opinion.
