Tot started at 5:30. The weather cleared up a bit. Not too bad for wet and cold.no snow, no wind, just a little drizzle. Pretty steady with the kids, but not too crazy yet. It drives me a little crazy that people will drive their kids from block to block.

It drives me a little crazy that people will drive their kids from block to block. I know. I live in a small lake community and the surrounding area isn't that well off. We get tons of kids carted around by their parents in cars. It will be near freezing tonight so I guess it's more understandable but we got whatever we could get by walking on our own two feet. Then there's Trunk or Treat- multiple events, you just take your kid to a church parking lot or a mall or whatever and they barely have to walk at all. Not good for the childhood obesity epidemic but OTOH, I don't want to be left with a lot of leftover candy. I'm trying to keep my own weight, a1C and cholesterol at healthy levels.

I'm ahead of all of you: I never get any ToT'ers where I live but there was all that good candy that I couldn't pass up. So I bought it, ate a little (really just a little) and took everything else in to work today. Put it in the breakroom and it was all gone by lunch

What bugs me about it is that kids are running around everywhere, and cars are supposed to try to stay off the roads during TOT.

One of my daughter's friends has fibromyalgia, and I wanted to make it easier for her to enjoy more time out with her friends. They had a great time!

No Trick or Treaters tonight. Pouring rain, plus I live in a building with a locked door to the lobby.
What I enjoy most about Halloween are the horror movies,

Thanks everyone! Gotta say, though, that I'm glad to get it off my face after it being on for almost 16 hours.

I didn't dress up, and I won't be home for trick-or-treaters later. my recent standby costume has been a Rockford Peach. theres a few FB pics of me in that outfit over the past few years. I jumped in over here bc this is great, whatever your politics. sorry, you'll have to copy/paste bc I haven't figured it out on mobile browser. maybe another mod can edit for me? edit: nevermind, it looks like it edited itself. woo hoo! 🤣 to quote Mrs Stevens, game on! There was a post on Facebook yesterday. A dozen years ago, a 13 year old girl was hit by a car in my little city with sidewalks and 25 mph speed limits throughout. This post was written by that now 25 year old girl's mother. She is still in a wheelchair and nonverbal. The mother said that she thought her daughter would be safe, since she was 13 and knew how to deal with roads and traffic.

Yeah, after B's illness, I just can't bring myself to judge how anyone does Halloween. She was in leg braces, and determined to trick or treat, and I turned to fast and I tripped her and fell on top of her and it was a disaster and we all sat on the curb together and cried. Could have saved myself a lot of angst if I'd just driven her door to door, tbh. However you wanna show up is just fine with me.

A co-worker told me it was going to snow tonight where she is, and I can't recall for the life of me where she lives. PA, maybe? This might be the first Halloween in a while where I will be cold. In past years either it has been ridiculously hot, or I've worn heavier costumes - or both. I don’t think PA. It was almost 70 and rainy here and I’m in NEPA. It did drop 35 degrees overnight so today it was freaking freezing!

One additional hour for kids to eat sugar and for adults to party and eat sugar and drink booze.
