If he's innocent, he has nothing to fear from releasing his records. Which means we can assume one of two things: 1. he's either been lying to the IRS all of these years, or 2. he's been lying about how much money he actually makes, and he's not as rich as he claims to be. Either way, because he's hiding his information, he gives the appearance of being either a liar, or a fake (or maybe both). So, why not release those records if he's "innocent"? Any worthy judge would instruct a jury that the exercise of one's Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights may not be construed as an admission of guilt. Regardless, if he's innocent, he has nothing to fear.

He'll be releasing them any day now. He has nothing to hide. People like to make criminal mountains, out of voluntary tradition molehills. I don't think there is any criminality, and that is WHY he is refusing to release them.
"why should I do X if there was no crime?"
well, because not releasing them becomes a crime, Mr. President.
just release the damn things.
Not releasing your tax returns isn't a crime.

I expect people to keep their promises. And this is not some blow-in-the-wind promise of that can't be fullfilled like "I'll balance the budget in the next 30 days" or even "I'll solve the ME crisis" within the next 6 months". Keeping on that one for now. This is a very simple: I'll release my tax returns -totally doable, often promised, never followed through. So any reasonable person has to conclude that he has at least something, and maybe even a lot, to hide.
He'll be releasing them any day now. He has nothing to hide. People like to make criminal mountains, out of voluntary tradition molehills. 12 days later...Did he release them yet?

He can and he will. We are never going to see his returns. Not voluntarily, and likely not through the courts. He will fight it until he dies. The only way he will release them is if the Supreme Court says he has to or will be put in jail for contempt of court. I don't see that happening.

Oh noos, another tax defeat for Trump.
Not just tossing Trump's suit to prevent the ways and means committee from using a newly passed New York law providing the panel with an avenue to pursue his state tax returns. The judge also ruled that Trump didn't establish a conspiracy between the House Ways and Means Committee and the New York defendants which could have strengthened his case to be heard in DC.
So now we wait while it goes to Federal Court, or maybe Trump tries to sue in the NY court. This has always been Trump's MO - delay, delay, delay and deny, deny, deny, and hope the other side gives up in frustration. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/judge-tosses-trump-suit-over-new-york-tax-returns-rejects-conspiracy-claim/ar-BBWB8fA
Worked with vendors when he screwed them over money. Worth a shot I guess.

But the courts absolutely have a say if it is part of a criminal investigation. NY is looking into some insurance fraud issues (I think).

November 13, 2019 Congress can have access to eight years of Trump’s tax records, appeals court ordersCongress can seek eight years of President Trump’s tax records, according to a federal appeals court order Wednesday that moves the separation-of-powers conflict one step closer to the Supreme Court. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit let stand an earlier ruling against the president that affirmed Congress’s investigative authority on a day when the House was holding its first public impeachment inquiry hearing. Trump’s lawyers have said they are prepared to ask the Supreme Court to intervene in this case and in several other legal battles between the president and Congress. The D.C. Circuit was responding Wednesday to Trump’s request to have a full panel of judges rehear a three-judge decision from October that rejected the president’s request to block lawmakers from subpoenaing his longtime accounting firm. Complete article here: Congress can have access to eight years of Trump’s tax records, appeals court orders

I doubt very much the SCOTUS will hear this case.
the president doesn't think he is a citizen, but he is.
he has the same responsibility to respond to subpoena as anyone else.

He has the Right to take it to a higher Court, I doubt that the Supreme Court will take it either.

He and Mitch made sure the court was stacked even more conservative than it was before so I’m not holding much hope.

If you weren’t so corrupted from drinking all that Kult-Aid you would want to see what Trump is hiding. As narcissistically prideful our wisdom filled super genius is one would think he would be anxious to show you all he’s legit. Me.... I think it shows he is not as wealthy as he has lied about, shows connectivity where he maybe shouldn’t have any, reveals criminal behavior, shows he’s just another rich douche paying nothing. What’s he afraid of OC? Where’s the vaunted Trump hubris?

He is afraid that you will find out he only has $3 billion instead of $4 billion! Now if this was an actual concern over Trump doing something wrong, Rather than a political stunt. I would be all over Trump. With the army of tax attorneys that trump has, I doubt they find much of anything. But, the political stunts started when Trump announced that he was running and continue today!

Tell me, in light of the fact we hear constantly that Trump never pays any of his bills, Have always paid every bill in full that has been presented to you? case in point a while back I hired a sub contractor, who showed up late, did not do a good or excellent job,
when I looked at it, I kinda had to close one eye, to find it acceptable, it worked it, it just did not look right, and on top of that inflated the job by three hours!
( I later sent another sub in to clean up the appearance , on my dime!) Do you think I paid his entire bill?? Hell NO, I didn't,, I subtract the three hour, I should have taken more off considering I had to pay some one else to finish the job. This was done face to face. so there were no questions!

No one pressured them to show the returns. No political stunts. trump did state he would show his tax returns once the IRS is done auditing them? Is the IRS still auditing his 2010 tax returns? trump's 2015 tax returns too? Where are the returns? trump promised he would show them. But then trump also promised Mexico would pay for the border wall. And we all know how that is working out.

There is evidence Trump over inflated the worth of his properties for insurance purposes and to also inflate his wealth (on paper) so it would be easier to borrow money from banks.
At the same time he was devaluing those same properties when he had to pay taxes of them.
That's called insurance fraud. It's a crime. That's why the authorities want to see his filings - not just for fun or political gain.

Do all modern presidents or candidates for president show their birth certificates to prove they were born in the U.S.? And who exactly was it who demanded Obama show his birth certificate? Hint: is the asswipe sitting in today's Oval Office. How ironic trump is being asked to do what he demanded Obama do. Show proof of something. Obama did show his birth certificate. Time for trump to show his tax returns.
