First Results: 1. Turkey Invades Northern Syria, attacks U.S. allies the Kurds and starts further refugee exodus, fears of genocide. 2. Former US allies, the Kurds, make deal with US enemy Assad in bid for their survival. 3. Russians enter power vacuum and gain influence and territory in the region, take over U.S. base. 4. Major rift with NATO and member Turkey, possible fracture in Alliance. U.S. nukes at Incerlik AFB Turkey in doubt. 5. Hundreds, possibly thousands, of ISIS fighters escaped and freed from jails. Up to 10,000+- at risk of escape. al Bagdahdi claims resurgence of ISIS. NOT winning bigly. Oh, and the 1,000 troops pulled out to "stop endless Mid East wars"? 3,000 U.S. troops being deployed to Saudi Arabia, home to anti-American terrorists bin Laden and the crew that blew up the WTC and the Pentagon. Yeah but as we learned on the other thread since we get oil from Saudi Arabia it's totally cool to be involved in their wars. They are paying us. It never was about getting us out of the middle east's problems or "not being the world police" or whatever justification is used to rationalize screwing over the Kurds.

You mean someone is going to fly airplanes into the World Trade Center,, which was Square One! No, it will be something different this time. Maybe bombing the Hoover Dam and fucking up the water supply for the southwest? Terrorism doesn't have to involve hijacking airplanes to be successful.

The EPA is ahead of them,, their Contractor dumped millions of gallons of toxic waste water into the Southwest's water supply!! But because it was the Government screwup,, It disappeared fast!!

Yes, they actually did. They were what is known as a trigger. I am guessing (wildly postulating) that Erdogan threatened to Trump that he would roll into Syria despite the American presence. Trump, who wanted U.S. troops out anyway (and good on him for that) saw a possible win-win. Avoid nasty confrontation with possible real casualties with Turkey, and achieve goal to get us out of Syria. Only thing is, he ignored all of the other messy reality of the situation. DOH! OR...all his financial entities in Turkey were threatened....I'm thinking this is more likely since everything is about "HIM" & his $$ or maybe a combo of both?

Is....is this the start of WWIII?
I mean, I know we all said we were worried Trump might start it, but now it seems to actually be happening!

Trump is now claiming he ever gave Erdogan the green light to invade Syria.
Just like clockwork - this thing goes south and Trump flippety flops.
All he needs now is some sap to throw under the bus for it.

The Kurds are no angels. What happens there has nothing to do with us. It’s natural for them to fight. There is a lot of sand for them to play in. Hopefully the Syrians and Kurds figure it out... restart loop...

We're now bombing our own military bases because we retreated/fled from them so fast.
Is this the America you grew up in?

I've just heard the BBC cover the disastrous meeting between House and Prez this afternoon.
A chill passed down my spine. We don't get votes this bipartisan and lopsided unless the legislators know something that we don't know about yet.
Prepare yourself for really unpleasant revelations. Aerial or satellite evidence of war crimes seems quite likely. I just can't explain such a lopsided vote any other way.

Hopefully the Syrians and Kurds figure it out... restart loop... Sigh. How presidential. He's accusing Kurds as being Communist.... Are there still many active Communist around ? From what I know, the Kurds are big into capitalist businesses...not collective doings... The man, the Donald, just opens his mouth and spews what ever , with little thought behind it and once it's out of his mouth there is no taking back..just more doubling down. He, the Donald, also claims General Mathis as the worst General ever, over rated...and weak... after the General criticized his Syrian doings...

And if you cross him in any way, it is as reflexive as a gag. You will get the Trumpian tweet slam. I dream to be honored with one someday, but alas I am but one of the little people. "but alas I am but one of the little people." [sigh]….Me too....

BBC is reporting that Turkey will suspend the Syrian offensive.
Turkey has agreed to a ceasefire in northern Syria to let Kurdish-led forces withdraw, US Vice President Mike Pence has announced.
All military operations will be paused for 120 hours, and the US will help facilitate an "orderly withdrawal" of Kurdish-led troops from what Turkey has termed a "safe zone" on the border.

We withdrew 28 "troops" stationed there "temporarily" ten years ago.

Like I said, next I expect trump to invite Russian troops here because he needs help in policing unruly Americans that are trying to throw him out of office. You know all the ones that are trying to impeach him. He is already inviting them to help with cyber security. I have said this elsewhere. Hubs did laugh at me, after this week he has quit. If he is in 4 more years it will happen, we will never have another free election. He loves being a dictator to much, this is just the beginning.
