I always though we should go back to calling the “Department of Defense” the “Department of War”. Pretty much a marketing gimmick that it was changed. The Saudi thing is really a step further, “Mercenaries for Hire” via Imgflip Meme Generator

Trump put an end to our part in a never ending war. Did I miss that Trump withdrew all the troops from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Karjacistan. Help me out here Coyootie. They are next.

So how long should we have stayed in this never ending war? "How long will we stay?" is the actual question that should be asked. Remember the adage, you break it you ownit? Well we did not break it, unless you blame Obama for entering the fray, so we do not own it.

Trump put an end to our part in a never ending war. So if that was Trump's goal then please explain why he is sending troops to Saudi Arabia. Shouldn't they also have to be dealing with their own shit because those people need to be fighting their own wars? Vacation, Staying at Trump's Palace!

Well we did not break it, unless you blame Obama for entering the fray, so we do not own it. And there were about 600 different, better, safer, etc. ways to get out of Syria than the way 45 did it.

So the lives of American military men & women are for rent? Is the fee higher for the dead American military men & women? How low we've sunk as a country for people to believe that.

A letter to Kurdish soldiers from a US military wifeEditor's Note: This article was written by the wife of a Special Operations soldier, who has served throughout the Middle East. CNN is not revealing her identity at her request. The views expressed in this commentary are her own.
(CNN)Dear Kurdish soldiers, You don't know me, but I have known of you for most of my adult life. When my military husband and I quickly married, knowing he was deploying to the Middle East to be part of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, I feared what he and his Special Operations unit would face when they arrived. How bad would the fighting be? How long would they be gone? Would he survive? Months later, he returned and recounted to me what he could about his experience. I asked how he had made it through. He replied, "We had help. We had the Kurds." He told me stories of how the Kurdish people in Northern Iraq supported the troops, advised them, stood by them, fought shoulder to shoulder with them in combat, and became allies and friends. And I became grateful -- immensely, unwaveringly, and forever grateful for you. Since then, the word "Kurds" in my home has meant something. It has meant "ally" and "friendship." There are pictures of Iraqi Kurds alongside my husband and fellow soldiers in our home. I have a coffee mug with depictions of female Syrian Kurdish soldiers on it that I proudly use to remind me of you. My children play soccer in their Kurdistan jerseys. Rest of article here: A letter to Kurdish soldiers from a US military wife

Oh Boy.. Fake news at it's best! Fox News reported the death of Democrat Elijah Cummings using a picture of John Lewis with Lewis's name plate right in front of him. Oh Boy.. Fake news at it's best! "This is the third time in a year that Fox has confused one famous black person for another. Last summer, following the death of R&B legend Aretha Franklin, the network aired an obituary featuring the image of singer Patti LaBelle. And earlier this year, The Five co-host Jesse Watters was famously embarrassed after confusing CBS anchor Gayle King with ABC’s Robin Roberts." Fox News Apologizes for Confusing John Lewis for Elijah CummingsBlack people must look alike to Republicans.

For a nominal cost..[ in the way military costs are figured] and very small US presence...believe total US presence in Syria is/was 2000 and granted any US KIA is deplorable...even one life..I believe American losses of it's forces is six... Terrible yes, but it's the price that may be paid...the business they choose and are in...and the payback is a strong presence and influence in a important part of the world...no matter what the Donald feels... Just look at the credentials of those Americans who differ with the Donald.... both political parties and some of the most influential and powerful members of the GOP. Can they all be wrong? Look at how our military leaders..granted retired and now able to express their feelings feel about the Donalds military leadership. Not positive in what I read. Allies in the region..Israel..Jordan, Egypt, the Emeriti's wondering if their protection is next... The man keeps raving about returning all troops home, getting out of the middle East. While right now we are fine as far as oil is concerned...it's because of franking...with hugh use of water and energy to get that oil and we personally might need that middle East oil again in the near future. Our 50 plus years policy of keeping the Soviets out of the middle East is now overturned...they are a second rate power now except for their nuclear arms...yet they have prevailed here...Putin is a winner...The Donald....loser, no matter what he personally says at his rallies... Not good, very dangerous...very sad...

Enlightening more than uncomfortable. From your link. Quote; T he SDF did not sacrifice its fighters out of love for America; rather, it hoped to harness U.S. power to help protect Kurdish territory and guarantee autonomy in a future Syria. Washington and the Kurds formed a marriage of convenience to defeat ISIS, but over the longer term there would have been a reckoning over divergent goals. The territory the SDF controlled was roughly the size of West Virginia and it is sandwiched between a deeply suspicious Turkey and an Assad regime equally resolved to bring all of Syria under its control. Consequently, survival of the SDF would have depended on Washington’s willingness to help protect the Kurds from Turkey and likely a long-term U.S. presence and security guarantees as well as support for Syria’s stabilization and reconstruction. Perhaps a future U.S. administration would have accepted these responsibilities in order to contain ISIS and gain leverage over the Assad regime. But the Trump administration was not about to get drawn into the Syrian vortex. And it is an open question whether the administration that follows Trump (be it in 2020 or 2024), Congress and the American public would be prepared to foot the bill of not just fighting jihadists but getting drawn into what would have been a nation-building exercise as well.
