I love Wegmans for some things. Over all I feel their prices have gone way up. I use the app to make my list and it tells me what aisle things are in. Originally the app was only on iPhone and I have Android. I spent forever looking for soy sauce before I remembered they had an Asian section. So yes some of their placement is odd.
I go about every six weeks to stock up on things we buy there.
I try to buy locally but it's hard in this area. Options are limited. I struggle a lot because I came from a DC burb in a county with nearly a million people to this. Like work clothes those will never be bought locally because there's no stores that carry what I typically buy.
Even something as simple as tennis shoes for my DH gets bought online. We have several options but they all appear to have the same thing. I have Prime and status with several retailers so things are on our doorstep within 2-3 days. I get tired of driving to a store only to find nothing. My DH is rarely in a mood to shop so it's much easier to show him things online.
I went shopping while in training in Miami. That Macy's was heaven.

I have given up buying clothes locally altogether. I normally buy shoes online too. My attempt at my light hiking/walking shoes at REI was after I looked at the stack of Amazon boxes in the garage that needed to get broken down and realized that between TD and myself, we shop a lot at Amazon. Most of my clothes come from either Duluth, Lands End, Eddie Bauer or Talbots. I haven’t walked into Macy’s in years.

I'm with mich on this. Although I can't buy shoes online. Mich - try going to an Althea's footwear in Everett. It's heaven for foot to hip issues

I grocery shop at a couple of local chains, plus Sprout’s and Aldi, and then Sam’s Club, but do a fair amount of online shopping as well for everything else.
Kids clothes are usually bought at a consignment sale, and then I’ll add to it with what’s needed throughout the year (usually pants for DS because he’s at the age/size where I can’t get those at consignment any more that look decent, and he’s constantly growing and ripping holes in the knees).
I usually order clothes for myself online from a place with a local storefront (usually Kohl’s, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, etc) so I can take back whatever doesn’t work locally. Otherwise it’s like my Land’s End order that sits on my closet floor for months waiting on me to ship back what I didn’t want.
I shop local Hallmark stores for birthday cards and wrapping paper.
Birthday presents for kids’ friends are usually from Target or GCs to local movie theater.
In general I’m trying to shop and consume less, but if I need it and don’t have time to hunt it down store to store, I’m ordering it online. It’s faster and more convenient, and that’s the stage of life I’m in. If there is a local option, I’ll try to do it if I can somewhat easily make it work, but if not, I’ll pick another option.
