I got a lift chair for mother. It suited our needs perfectly. When she needed to get up I stood in front of the chair with her walker while it rose. Really helpful. Don't know if Medicare helps, or not. Medicare will pay for part of it, not all.

Medicare will pay for part of it, not all. I confirmed this with my "breakfast date" this morning- he works the SHIP lines in our state and handles inquiries from Medicare beneficiaries. Medicare won't pay for a recliner but they'll pay for the "power assist" mechanism.

Thanks for doing it for me.

Why don’t you try renting a chair until Medicare comes through? This gives you a chance to get help immediately, and an idea of what to shop for when the time comes. It will give you help now.
