I came back home at the end of last week. Yay! I get to sleep in my own bed. DS had the surgery to remove the kidney stone and once they pulled out the stent he was feeling a whole lot better. Once the pain went away, so did the seizures. He's worked 4 days this week and hasn't had any seizures. He also reports the antidepressant they gave him seems to be helping him feel better overall. Progress! Now, to figure out how to get all the volcanic silica out of my water filters so I can turn my green/brown water back to clear again... the arsenic removal media is $600 a bag! I think I may get out my gold pan and spend an afternoon panning out the silt that got sucked into the filter.

I'm very happy that your DS is doing better. A lot of doctors don't seem to understand how one health issue can affect other parts of your body.
Best wishes with the water issues. What a pain!

Great news about your DS. Best of luck with your filter - sounds like a royal pain.

Believe me many do not listen at all. It's very frustrating. Hope he continues well.

That's fantastic news, Shasta.
As you know, there are correlations between one physical symptom and another. I hope your son keeps doing well.
Good luck with the water.

You might try backflushing your filters, if the filters are located where they are reasonably easy to remove. Run clean water backwards through the filters to push whatever is trapped in the filter media out of the filter. It’s kind of like using compressed air to blow the dust and debris out of the filter for your shop vac, to extend the life of the filter.

That is wonderful news about your son. Hopefully this will stop the majority if not all of the seizures. Pain does funny things to the body and mind ........ hugs

I know it can be helpful for a radiator. lol We removed the filters from the plumbing system, so I can easily move them around and they are close to a hose location. We believe the filters were in the process of backwashing when the tank emptied out and so they ended up with a lot of silt. The pressure tank had about a five gallon bucket worth inside of it! The good news is the water treatment filters are what likely saved my home's plumbing from some nasty clogging. Right now the water comes out greenish but changes to brown the longer it has contact with the air. I think the water is rusting. Who knew that was possible? lol

There must be a lot of iron in the water too, if it's rusting.
How's the water (and you and your son) today?

Yes, there is an insane amount of iron in my well water. The "iron master" filter was apparently doing a good job of removing most of it before it hit the house. Thankfully, of all the crap in the water, sulfur isn't one of them for some reason. So, the water is thick with minerals, coats everything including the humans and our hair!, but it doesn't stink. To work on my filters I need to cut a bunch of pipe, so I need to get a saw and then one day when the weather isn't excessively hot I will play with them. My son worked 6 days last week and didn't have a single seizure. He said his work is really happy because they recently had some people quit, so they are currently dumping a bunch of hours on his schedule. That's a win-win for both of them. Hopefully he can make enough money to repair his car that needs to move from my driveway before I move next spring. I am still in a lot of pain. Nearly every day. I'm fairly certain at this point I am having an SI joint problem or a problem with my hip joint that's referring pain into my groin. I can feel some instability, get a lot of crunching from the area, and simple things like walking up stairs now always makes me very sore. When the pain starts I figured out if I ice my SI joint area I can alleviate the pain both in my back and my groin. I've been contemplating going to the walk-in clinic in search of a referral to an orthopedist and buying a belt/brace to try. I have 6 months until I list my house. So, every single day I do something towards the effort. On the positive side, the pain and thinking about having to move a bunch of boxes is great motivation to toss a whole lot more stuff. My double closet is my current project and at this point it's nearly empty.

Run clean water backwards through the filters to push whatever is trapped in the filter media out of the filter. It’s kind of like using compressed air to blow the dust and debris out of the filter for your shop vac, to extend the life of the filter. Worked on the filters today. They wouldn't flow backwards at all. Well, the arsenic one would a bit, but the iron filter was first in line and completely clogged with clay and iron silt. So, I ended up taking them apart and repeatedly shoved a garden hose down into their media cylinders. Moving it around and agitating the cylinders produced a large iron river in my yard. Eventually, I was able to clear the riser tubes in each filter, so I think they just might work again when I connect them back up. The media is now likely cleaner than it's been in a long time. I need some PVC glue and some 0-rings from town, then I will know for sure if I was able to salvage the fouled media or not. What a gross project. Hope it bears fruit. OMG those things are heavy...

Thought I would post a quick update about my life.
DS2 has only had one small seizure since I came back home and is back to working full-time. Yay.
DS1 and his GF moved back home with me a few months ago. His GF can only work in OR due to her license, and recently found a job in a bordering town. She's been making the 100 mile commute while DS1 looked for a job there and they looked for a rental.
Though they have had a horrid time finding a rental and DS1 got fired from his job last week, they scored a rental yesterday. Yay! So, next month they are moving north.
The timing actually worked out well, because the growers are currently harvesting and moving their crops out. That means soon the majority of them will be gone and all their security patrols with them. That makes living here a lot nicer and less stressful.
I'm almost done with the remodel of my master bath and clearing out my closet. The power company is weatherizing my house and replacing all the exterior doors and windows in two weeks. They are also replacing my HVAC system. So the house projects are on track for a early year listing.
I'm really starting to get excited about the prospect of getting out of this area and finding a new place to live and work.
