Don't disagree with trump! After Trump blames mental illness for mass shootings, health agencies ordered to hold all posts on issueWhen President Trump targeted mental illness as the cause of the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton that killed 31 people, federal health officials made sure no government experts might contradict him. A Health and Human Services directive on Aug. 5 warned communication staffers not to post anything on social media related to mental health, violence and mass shootings without prior approval. That alarmed some government mental health experts who said they felt muzzled at a moment many Americans were searching for answers to the U.S. epidemic of mass shootings, said three agency employees. Many researchers and mental health experts said Trump’s comments contradicted well established research. Mental illness and hatred pull the trigger. Not the gun,” Trump said immediately after the shootings. In the following days, he doubled down on his statement, arguing that America should reopen mental institutions shuttered decades ago as a way to address mass shootings. While mental illness is sometimes a factor in such shootings, it is rarely a predictor, according to a growing body of research. Most studies of mass shooters have found that no more than a quarter of them have diagnosed mental illness. Researchers have noted more commonly shared attributes include a strong sense of resentment, desire for notoriety, obsession with other shooters, a history of domestic violence, narcissism and access to firearms. Well, the Republicans already shut down any CDC efforts to research gun violence, makes sense to make the rest of government pretend it doesn't happen, too.
Seems like Trump's little talk with the NRA made him do a massive flip, I guess they managed to scare him, like they scare all the other GOPers.
NRA needs to focus on their own internal problems, like the fact that Lapierre spent 39K in one day on fancy suits for himself. I guess if you want to look intimidating, you have to be wearing a certain level of power suit.

Well we all know scientists are a part of the liberal agenda and therefore anything they say is not to be trusted. It's true, I got my liberal manifesto the day I graduated with a biology major. I am about to go into a meeting to discuss updates to our master plan.

I am about to go into a meeting to discuss updates to our master plan. At my book club last night, one of the other ladies was saying how mad she was at her brother, because he had gone so deeply into the Trump narrative, he was 100% convinced that every news source - BBC, PBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, every newspaper - ALL of the media except Fox news - were conspiring together to lie about the president.
Everything, all of it, was a colossal fake moon landing type hoax. Trump never did or said anything that the media reported him saying or doing, or videos showed him saying and doing (FAKE!).
Her brother would not be at all surprised if everyone who wasn't a Trump supporter did attend weekly meetings to organize our giant resistance plot to make Trump look bad by faking everything.
The book club lady got so mad with brother 1, she hung up on him and called brother 2 to bitch about brother 1. They are all in their 60s - 70s, by the way, so I guess that sibling shit never stops.

I really hope he doesn't own a gun if he's that delusional. Since we're supposed to be focusing on mental health and all.

So what else is new? Scientists are not allowed to publish their findings on global warming, the CDC is not allowed research gun violence, and on, and on.
What is muffling one more group group of scientist going to do except for preparing us for more of the same in the next few years?

Maybe Trump is worried what the MH people will say about his own erratic behavior?

I find this muzzling trend very disturbing. I agree it is disturbing. Disturbing but not surprising. Stronger yet, disturbing but predictable!
