I did call the FBI "ONCE", I briefly spoke to one of the most arrogant persons that I have ever encounter in my life. I had the opportunity to work with numerous FBI personnel over a couple of years when our company's server was being used by someone overseas as a bounce point to make their computer presence difficult to trace. All of the interactions I had were professionally cordial. I imagine you weren't flippant when dealing with the FBI.

Here is the answer. making credible threats?
There needs to be a reasonable expectation that the threats can be carried out. not not a wild figment of some one imagination.
And you don't believe these men were making credible threats? But you do believe if there was a preponderance of evidence that the threat was credible, the charges are justified? (I am not arguing that there was evidence here - just in general.) Just checking. I find we all make assumptions about what each other is saying, and it takes us down dusty roads unnecessarily. Empty rice cooker?? no bomb threat?? Where is the extreme danger here. On the other hand, Timothy McVeigh,, had a credible bomb. not an empty rice cooker.

But no one knew what was stored in a parked van where cars and vans were a regular scene.

I am not talking about rice cookers. I am talking about the men who told people and posted on social media that they had a plan to shoot a mass number of people. One saying he was going to score more kills than anyone else and gave the number of 100 people. Theoretically, if there is evidence that they were working towards that goal, and they may get there pretty quickly, do you think there is a law to stop them?

Let me back up a minute. Coyote - do you truly believe there is no law against making credible threats? Or do you believe there is something in the criminal code that they have been charged with, but it is unconstitutional and should be thrown out? I am not even sure what we are arguing about anymore. Please let me know. Here is the answer. making credible threats?

I see. So, you think it should be perfectly legal to phone in a bomb threat to an airport if I don't actually have a bomb. Got it.

A total of 28 people are reported to have been arrested for making threats to carry out mass attacks since the 4 August shooting in Dayton, Ohio, which killed nine, and the 3 August shooting in El Paso, Texas, which targeted Hispanics and killed 22 people.
Following those shootings, the FBI said it was concerned that "domestic violent extremists" would be inspired to carry out copycat attacks and asked Americans to report "any suspicious activity that is observed either in person or online".

Police shut down airport because a car was parked 30 second to long in the passenger drop off , as some was helping his 96 y.o. mother to the ticket counter. It is a made up story , it makes a point. constant over reactions.
