U.S. Rep. Steve King told the Westside Conservative Club Wednesday that humanity might not exist if not for rape and incest throughout human history. "What if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled out anyone who was a product of rape or incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that?" he said in Urbandale, Iowa. "Considering all the wars and all the rapes and pillages that happened throughout all these different nations, I know that I can't say that I was not a part of a product of that." The Kiron Republican was discussing his defense of not allowing exceptions for rape and incest in the anti-abortion legislation he tried to pass in Congress. Republican leadership had prevented bills he sponsored on banning abortions from advancing through the House, despite GOP support for the measures, King said. ... He also discussed the criticism he faced over a New York Times quote on white nationalism and white supremacy in January...the Times published an article quoting King saying “white nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” ... King said there was a plan for President Donald Trump to criticize him as well, but he met with Trump and said there's "no signal from Donald Trump that he's anything other than supportive of me."

If that's the case, then we need Mexican rapists to ensure that our country can live on. We don't need no stinking wall. The people will be a little darker than conservatives would like, but it's either that or extinction. Let's take one for the team!

corporate farms may not have come into existence without slavery and sharecropping. It doesn't make it right.

I also hate how this one idiot somehow represents republicans. He is an ass. There are also assholes that are democrats. Can we just call out bad behavior without trying to link it to a political party? Because I'm pretty sure there are not many republicans that align with this person.

I don't recall any democrat calling for banning abortion with no exception, but I may be wrong.

In this case it's relevant, he was voted in and is using this logic to block a law. He is where he is because of Republican support.

You busted me only googling his name!lol But did they vote him in on that platform? If they did, they are either idiots who pull the straight ticket lever or asshats like him. But I don't know his platform before he got elected...and don't really care enough to google.!lol

When you know more about Steve King, his controversial beliefs & comments & how Republicans line up to support those things, then you know it's relevant.
It's not about point & laugh at the dumbass & oh lookie, he's a Republican. It's an example of how deeply some seriously sick views run in the Republican party.

Okay, but by even mentioning the party, you lose half the audience who immediately jump to defend their party. I think we would collectively fare much better if we remain focused on jumping on the behavior, quote, etc.

Everyone should read so they know what they are either condemning or defending. Does anyone want to defend this creep? Seems like he & DT would get along well since DT has designs on his own daughter.

Here's one for you. From today's news: Revealed: Republican lawmaker aided group training young men for 'biblical warfare'The Republican politician Matt Shea connected close allies with a group offering training to young men in “biblical warfare” that includes how to use knives, pistols and rifles, with lessons based in part on the teachings of a Georgia-based neo-Confederate pastor, emails obtained by the Guardian reveal. Shea, who is an elected Washington state representative, later made videos in support of the group, and appeared alongside them at a gathering at a religious community in remote eastern Washington. He also paid the founder of the group money from his campaign fund in 2018. The emails, sent in July 2016, begin with an email from Patrick Caughran, who presents himself as the founder of a training group called Team Rugged. They were provided to the Guardian by a former Shea associate who was copied in on the exchange. Caughran asks Shea to publicize a link to the group’s Facebook page, and put him in touch with “John Jacob Schmidt”, the nom de guerre of Shea associate, Jack Robertson. Robertson is a rightwing podcast host who advocates for conservatives to move to the “American Redoubt” in eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana, and, with Shea, campaigns for eastern Washington to secede and form its own state. On Team Rugged website, it is described as “a Christian organization that strongly believes in building manly character and the capability to stand in adversity in young men”. And again, Steve King is not a one off in the Republican party. He's an open oozing sore that is showing off the depths of some pretty vile beliefs from certain factions of that party.
There is not a "there's good people on both sides" issue here.

Chris Christie was going to be the prosecutor.
Why? Just why?
Defense attorney Alan Dershowitz has made a career of defending controversial figures such as Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.
But he will not be defending two Bible figures accused of kidnapping and child trafficking in a mock trial, after the event, set to take place at a New York synagogue this fall, was scrapped on Wednesday.
Chris Christie, a former federal prosecutor and New Jersey governor, was set to lead the prosecution of Joseph’s older brothers — who, in a story in the Book of Genesis, sold their sibling into slavery in a fit of envy — on charges of kidnapping and child trafficking. U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams was set to preside.

Get in representatives that really do reflect your beliefs. It's the Republican voters that can do that. If they replace him with a better candidate they could still have a Republican rep.

Shea is a supporter of a 51st state called Liberty. You know what, let's take one of the rectangular, sparsely populated states and let them create Liberty.
Siphon off all the far right religious/white nationalist wing nuts to their own little haven and let them arrange things just the way they want them. Everyone walking around armed to the hilt, packs of men serving as vigilante posses, women properly barefoot and pregnant at home, birthing out a quiverful.
We can fence them off like a wild animal park, and let them free range there. Everyone else, the people who don't mind living among a range of races, with different heritages, and different religious backgrounds, who aren't scared of gays or atheists and don't feel compelled to govern all the wombs, can continue to run our great democracy without them.
I think this would make everyone very happy.

Will there be tours where we can gawk at them from our cars? Like a wild animal park? I wonder if they'll eat nuggets from our hands.
