""" And he's one of our very smart people and we want to-- we want to cherish those people."""
I thought his answer was right on the mark. About a year ago, bureaucrats were hassling Elon Musk about his market remarks - claimed that he was unfit, threatened to takeover his company. For those who don't see it, Elon Musk could very well hold the key to climate control. If we replaced most of the world's automobiles with long-range electric economical cars, that would remove about 45% of the world's carbon emissions. (And replacing the fossil fuel power plants with nuclear plants would remove about 45% more - ie, 90% of world carbon pollution). If there is anyone that gov't should not be obstructing, it is Elon Musk - just get out of his way and let him do what he does.
Spot on man. But don't forget "we have to protect Thomas Edison" as well. Not to mention "all of these people that -- came up with originally the light bulb and -- the wheel." Yes we have to protect and cherish those Mesopotamians.

Was that before or after he smoked a big joint on his podcast?
The U.S. Air Force is looking into how to handle Elon Musk apparently smoking weed on a podcast. Marijuana use is prohibited for someone with a government security clearance, which Musk may have because of the contracts SpaceX has with the Air Force www.cnbc.com/2018/09/07/air-force-is-looking-into-elon-musks-pot-smoking-source.html

Do we really have to protect Musk though since his father is South African and his mother from Canada? And Elon was born and raised in SA! In other words → one of those horrible immigrants potentially from a "sh*t-hole country" (I am not quite sure where on the sh*t-hole country meter SA is located, so maybe not)

140? assuming he sleeps 8 hours, that is one every six mins. jesus. Yep. According @factbasefeed, an account which tracks Trump's Twitter habits, Trump sent 142 tweets and retweets on Wednesday -- eclipsing his previous single-day presidential record of 123. (Trump's total on Wednesday was the second-most of his entire Twitter life, according to Factbase and flagged by CNN's fact checker Daniel Dale.) www.cnn.com/2020/01/23/politics/donald-trump-twitter-impeachment/index.html

How did you know which sentence was the important one? I had an inferior 'old time' education... and need help with this. When I was a kid I learned about Topic Sentences and how all the other sentences should support it. What exactly did you hear in Trump's sentences BEFORE he got to that last sentence? Did you just ignore them? How did you know that one - and not the one about Trump being worried about Musk or the bit about protecting Tom Edison because he came up with the light bulb and the wheel weren't what Trump thought about Elon Musk's company being worth more than the other car companies?

Yeah, a topic sentence would be nice, lol. But there were multiple significant points in Trump's response even tho he circled around as he worked his way toward his conclusion - pointed out that Musk landed a rocket tail-down on shipboard. I saw the video of it, that had never been done before, it was truly impressive.
I am still of the opinion that the bureaucrats should get out of Musk's way and let him do what he does best. As for various US rules about 'classified', and 'pot smoking' - Musk isn't from here, didn't grow up with the US rules. Let him work on his projects - build factories in Europe, Canada, Nevada, Australia - wherever, go to the Moon, Mars. We should provide assistance, not resistance. It wouldn't kill us to write a few waivers to open some doors. Why not support a trip to the Moon, etc. Personally, I would like to see another Lunar mission, I was an r&d engineer on the Apollo missions during the 1960's - it bugs me that that we cut that program 50 years ago - the knowledge that Man has lost by not repeating that trip several more times is huge. So far, the Moon is the only place that we know how to go to. Jupiter has 79 moons, some of them are bigger than Earth, plenty of places left to explore.

KERNEN: Tesla's now worth more than GM and Ford. Do you have comments on Elon Musk?
TRUMP: Well -- you have to give him credit. I spoke to him very recently, and he's also doing the rockets. He likes rockets. And -- he does good at rockets too, by the way. I never saw where the engines come down with no wings, no anything, and they're landing. I said I've never seen that before. And I was worried about him, because he's one of our great geniuses, and we have to protect our genius. You know, we have to protect Thomas Edison and we have to protect all of these people that -- came up with originally the light bulb and -- the wheel and all of these things. And he's one of our very smart people and we want to-- we want to cherish those people. link I want a president who does not answer questions this way. "He does good at rockets?" Ouch. He doesn't know the difference between spaceship and rocket. "He does good at rockets" is something a 7 year old would say. A 7 year old from Zimbabwe who doesn't speak English. Dumbass.

We have to protect our geniuses, like the ones who invented the wheel?
WTF? Is he insinuating that the wheel was invented in the USA? By people who are still alive and need protection?

If your Tesla is stolen, it automatically turns into an Edison.

If you are a rich white guy, the ranting about immigrants not assimilating in our country and racking up drug convictions don't count. Give that pothead a check and write him a waiver that he don't have to follow the laws the rest of us do sound about right?

Personally, I favor non manned missions of exploration....the vehicles that transport human have just too many valves and pipes for me that can break...I am ok with developing such vehicles , useing personnel from all over the world..best of the best , a international coalition, and if it takes fifty years, even one hundred years to come up with the right vehicle for exploration...fine by me... In the meantime, keep up with the best space telescopes, hubbles and the new one...and non manned exploration....

Well I don't know about y'all, but I'm glad we have an adult in the White House. Thank you Melania! The only problem is, Melanie could give two shits about our democracy, politics, or the presidency. She married Trump for the comfortable lifestyle he represented. She didn't sign up for this. Although she'd do a better job as president, if Trump would just hand the reins over to her - but then almost anyone else would.

Yes, the wheel was invented just before the Revolutionary War, so that planes could land at the airports. Ever try to land a plane without landing gear? It makes one hell of a mess. Before the wheel was invented, the planes had to land in bodies of water, and the passengers had to swim to shore. Some didn't make it.

Trump is notorious for putting all his letters and notes through a shredder. Caused some problems initially because the POTW is required to save everything, and there he was shredding any paper that crossed his desk. The WH had to hire some interns to sit in a back room and tape the paper stripes back together. I guess what he shreds was perfectly legal.
