Can't pay? It's OK: St. John's restaurant feeds hungry for free Big Bite Pita provides free meals to people in need for an hour a day, 7 days a week Emad Elawwad is co-owner of Big Bite Pita, a year-old Middle Eastern restaurant in St. John's that offers free food to the hungry one hour daily. Elawwad says the offer started after a man walked into the shop with $3 and asked him what he could buy for that amount. 'I told him to keep the money and get what you want.' www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/st-john-s-restaurant-feeds-hungry-1.5203588

Nice.
There's a restaurant in the next city from me that will give anyone who asks, a free meal. They take donations to help cover the cost. Or at least that's what I heard on the news.

Pennsylvania school district tells parents to pay their lunch debt, or their kids will go into foster care
(CNN)The Wyoming Valley West School District in Pennsylvania sent out hundreds of letters this week telling parents who had lunch debt to pay or their children could go into foster care. The letter, which was reviewed by CNN, told parents that there have been "multiple letters sent home with your child" and that no payments had been made. "Your child has been sent to school every day without money and without a breakfast and/or lunch," the letter read. It also said failure to provide children with food could result in parents being sent to Dependency Court. "If you are taken to Dependency court, the result may be your child being removed from your home and placed in foster care," the letter read. CNN has reached out to Wyoming Valley West School District, but has not heard back. linkCheaper to have the state pay for the lunches than to pay for the kids in foster care.
