Other than members of this vboard who still favor MSNBC and CNN America has chosen the winner. It all comes down to the two yr attack against the President and the fact they backed the Democrats with all the lies and the end result of the Mueller investigation destroyed them.

...America has chosen the winner. ... As of April 29, 2019, Fox News was the leading cable network in the United States, with approximately 1.41 million total day viewers. (from link above) The current population of the United States of America is 328,919,763 link I go with none of them as the winner.

Yeah, I don't watch any of news-based stations on a daily basis. I did watch CNN on a daily basis, and I agree that I couldn't handle the dramatization and rhetoric. I'm still a flaming ass liberal even though I stopped watching CNN. I still get their headline pushes and I check their website, but I check USA Today regularly also. I also read The Economist. I just don't want to literally hear the pundits speak.
We do have ESPN on daily but none of the others on that list on more than a few-times-a-week basis. We never watch Nickelodeon.

I think the liberals have fanned out across other sources. CNN has fucked this up.

Well, duh! Isn't it the ONLY conservative cable news source? That means most of the Republicans will follow it. Liberals, meanwhile, have a choice of many sources, so it's spread out.

FOX more than doubled CNN and MSNBC combined. One link shows over all numbers (allday) and the other link shows prime time numbers. CNN was somewhere behind Nichelodeon Network and the Dicovery channel.

Cable TV is on the decline anyway, but Fox may feel the bite earlier than the other news networks. ESPN used to be the only sports cable channel, just like Fox is the only conservative news channel, but ESPN peeked in 2011. Walter Cronkite had tens of millions of viewers every night - Fox does well to get 3, and it's a niche player for old white men. Old white men are the most dependably conservative of any age group, and watch the most cable TV of any age group, so Fox has the perfect captive audience. But like ESPN, Fox News’s present-day strength is its future weakness: Its success is concentrated among men well into their retirement. There is no polite way to say this, so one might as well be explicit: People don’t live forever. If the future of your business relies on a dramatic and sudden extension of average human lifespans, your ten-year outlook is murky. It is also not clear that younger generations of conservatives are eager to pick up where their parents and grandparents left off. Today’s young people are less likely to be Republicans than their parents, less likely to watch cable news, and even less likely to pay for cable in the first place. Those who gravitate to conservative views seem more likely to align themselves with digital platforms, like Breitbart. www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2016/08/the-twilight-of-fox-news/497684/ So celebrate hard today, you may be seeing the Fox zenith.

Well, let's see what has changed in the last few months....the weather has gotten warmer & more people are doing things outside rather than watching tv. The middle of the country is flooded & farmers are more worried about whether or not they will have a crop this year than watching tv. I'm sure there are other things that have happened that have changed a lot of people's viewing habits right now...oh yes, many schools are out now or about out so all kinds of activities connected with both of those are going on.

Maybe President Trump can explain Fox ratings to ya: “What’s going on with Fox by the way? What’s going on there?” Trump asked his supporters in Montoursville, northern Pennsylvania. “Someone’s going to have to explain the whole Fox deal to me.” Some of the crowd booed, a sort of Pavlovian response to Trump criticizing something or someone. But others looked confused. Could Trump really be attacking Fox News? He was. Specifically it was the appearance of Democratic 2020 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg on the channel that had upset Trump. “They’re putting more Democrats on than you have Republicans. Something strange is going on at Fox. Something very strange,” Trump said. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/22/fox-news-trump-attack-rally-pete-buttigieg

DS and his wife (he's 30) don't have cable at all. They pay for a couple services like Hulu and Netflix, and use an antenna to get the local news. If there's a big game on they want to watch, they go to a sports bar with friends and watch on the big screen.
A lot of millennials are going this route. Cable is gradually going the way of rabbit ears. Millennials especially avoid the cable news edutainment talking heads channels.
Who knows what news will look like 20 years from now.

My niece (also 30) doesn't even own a TV. They just open a laptop when they want to watch something.

IMO, the reason CNN and MSNBC are suffering such poor numbers is Americans drank the kool-aid they force fed them for two years. Americans now realize there was a unified attack against Trump to bring him down. There viewers believed everything about Trump being a plant for Russia and a welling particpant against America. It was easy to fall in place rallying to the media and democratic headlines as Trump is a polarizing person with a personal history record of not being the shall we say, an optimal human being to sit in the WH based on previous occupants. Let's not talk about other Presidents who had sorrid pasts that were elected as that is lost in the rewriting of history, etc. Another thought I am trying to implement here, is the fact of the lack of people actually voting in elections the last few decades. If people are bailing CNN and MSNBC today due to acknowledgment of their lies to America, they may well sit at home next election or even vote for Trump in 2020 to remove their own regrets of believing the lies for two years. Obviously viewers of FOX have not abandoned the President, which bodes well for him in 2020.

The only thing that changed was the Mueller report came out and did not find collusion. Last year everything you said happened at this time and yet CNN and MSNBC were fast approaching numbers coming close to Fox numbers because people drank the kool aid.

As had been pointed well, it doesn't. It is about demographics and technology.

OK, so a bunch of old white retired people who are afraid to hear anything that doesn't mesh with their world view sit around all day and watch Fox News. In other news, water is wet.

Well, not for me. I don't have an issue with the unified attack. I think it started too late in the election actually. I don't believe he was a "participant" against America. I believe he's a buffoon, an asshole white male/subconscious white supremacist, and a narcissist.
Yes, the creation of the internet, smart phones, and 24/7 news cycles does mean that more details are "spilled" about people than in the past. I don't know that anyone is trying to rewrite history though.
I don't want to watch cable news every day because I don't like the yelling. I don't like the circus show. I actually like Jeffrey Lord being on CNN because he was rational. I cannot stand it when Stephen Miller is on CNN. The vitriol that arises in me is not something I want to allow to happen.
I also don't tend to fall for silliness like this Megan Markle is nasty stuff. I read the transcripts. I do think it's much ado about nothing. That doesn't mean I'm for DJT. It just means that I can think critically.
I don't regret not preferring DJT as POTUS. I'm not sure how you jumped that far.

His candidacy started out as a marketing ploy and once he started doing better than expected, the Russians realized they could use him as a tool to destabilize us. Trump's ego won't let him recognize when he's is being used. Do you really think the Russians would have gotten anywhere with John Kasich, Jeb Bush, or Chris Christie? I may not agree with their politics, but they aren't stupid guys.

This is also anectodal, but the only people I know who sit down and regularly watch cable news are elderly. The younger voters get news amalgamation sources and go to different websites. Yes, the elderly are a large voting block, but they won't be around for that much longer. We've got a huge shift in how people get news coming.

There are no lies just no ass kissing of a rapest and correct reading of Muellers report...can't say no collusion or bad conduct of the Donald...not that he was not guilty...just can't because of constitutional limits a way to charge a POTUS. That majority of Americans follow Fox...so majority of my fellow citizens are nuts...so why should I follow them? Lets see after 2020 election were we stand.

I just wish there were actual news channels on TV. As it is all you can get is local news and that, by default, leaves everyone in the dark of what is happening in the rest of the world.
The cable news that is presented to us on TV (be it liberal or "conservative") is nothing but opeds and sport.

I'm 39, and I know nobody my age who actually watches any cable news. We get our info online. My mother and my aunts religiously watch MSNBC. My grandfather was the same with Fox News. Fox has great ratings because a bunch of retired racists watch it all day. Congrats on that!
