So, I've had like 2 of these in the past 18 months... and then i put on new glasses 3 days ago and have had 2 since then, yesterday and today... not sure if they could be triggered by the new glasses? Anyone have experience with ocular migraines?
Actually I think visual migraine might be more accurate? It happens in both eyes, those blind spot then flashing color spaces/lightning...

Yes. I went to the eye doctor twice before. The first time it was very mild and so we weren't sure. By the second time he was sure and i had already done research and figured that's what it was. The first time i went to the doc and the eye doc... nothing else wrong. Its annoying, and it tires out my eyes. The first two didn't result in even a headache after, but both of these did, although not debilitating. If you look up ocular or retinal migraine online and look at images you can see what i'm talking about...
Its actually good that it happens in both eyes, one eye is apparently what would be concerning.
But, that said, once or twice a year isn't daily... and i'm hoping this isn't going to keep up at this rate...

This isn't exactly how mine are but you can get an idea...
Its nice to know what they are if you ever have one, because you will think the first one is something serious otherwise.

My mom gets those. No headache just weird auras and flashing lights. No advice on what to do about them because I don't think she does anything but wait them out.

Has she been able to recognize any triggers do you know? I'm wondering if it could be my new glasses, either because of fatigue getting used to the new prescription or because i think they are a weird size and might reflect light weirdly.. ?
Anyway i've taken them off and put the old ones back on. And i'll call the eye doc again tomorrow. Just thought i'd see if anyone had their own experiences with them.

I've had maybe a handful of ocular migraines in my life. Mine is usually one eye (it varies) but sometimes spreads to the second. It starts with auras and then progresses to a headache. I only know it's coming because of the aura. I don't know what happens after that because whenever it happens, I immediately take a nap and it goes away. Luckily, they have all occurred at home when I could nap.
I haven't been able to identify any triggers because they happen so infrequently, like every 1.5-2 years.

I get these, and yes the first really freaked me out. Mine are usually caused by all the triggers combined Coffee, wine, lack of sleep, too much screen time. I never realize I'm over doing it until I get one, and they are usually months apart. DH actually triggered one by going disco disco with the kitchen lights last night flashing them all on and off repeatedly trying to show me there was a short. Luckily I recovered before GoT.

The first migraine I ever had affected my vision in that way. I called my eye doctor, as it freaked me out, and he referred me to my medical doctor. It was a hot, humid day, & in time I learned that big swings in the weather could give me a migraine. I don't know if adjusting to your glasses triggered the problem. Maybe call both your eye doctor, AND your medical doctor?

Did your eye professional double check both your correction and the eyeglasses to make sure they are what you need?
I have worn glasses since 2nd grade and believe me, over time you will get a bad script/optics. I had an elderly friend who got new glasses, started having headaches, went to the doctor and had an MRI. Nobody could figure out what was going on. I saw him a week after the MRI and suggested he get his new glasses double checked. Bingo, they were made incorrectly and even though the optical tech had checked the glasses once, after the second complaint the problem was discovered. Bottom line, people make mistakes and people fill your optical script.

when the eye doctor asks you which is better - here. or here! - I've learned to tell the doctor that I prefer to go with the lower Rx as even the slightly bit of over correction gives me headachy eye strain.
if your headaches are much more frequent, I would return and try a lower Rx on the lenses, at least have them check out the focal point for the glasses. Not sure if that is what it's called, but they measure where your eyeball is in the new glasses.

I've been getting them for 40+ years but they've greatly reduced in frequency as I've gotten older. Mine are triggered by light sensitivity so my glasses are the darkest photochromic lenses you can have. Bright sunshine or computer screens with white backgrounds tend to no longer trigger the migraines because of the lenses. Taking medicine makes me nauseous but if I can vomit, I know I'm on my way to getting rid of the intense headache.
My son also has them but he has different triggers - the biggest being weather. For him it's not temperature, it's barometric pressure. His are so bad that we've been in the emergency room on multiple occasions. Finally took him to the Cleveland Clinic the day after his 18th birthday (because they don't see patients under 18) and the doctor there has tweaked his medicine since that time. He's 25 now. My son is also in the medical field as an athletic trainer but has an emphasis in his master's in nutrition so he's adjusted his own diet over the years as well. Knock on wood but he's not had a migraine for about two years.

I get these pretty frequently (every month or two). They used are sometimes accompanied by pretty intense headaches (though those have thankfully lessened in recent years).
I have never been able to really identify a trigger.

I’ve been getting these for about 20 years. Really freaked me out in the beginning.
One big trigger for me is when it is really sunny out. I get them other times but that is one trigger I seemed to notice.

Well that video is a load of shit. Most of mine, the few times I have them, last for a few hours. And why it's not painful per say, it really bothers my head and often makes me nauseous as hell.
