“We are shocked to find that the Impossible Burger can have up to 11X higher levels of glyphosate residues than the Beyond Meat Burger according to these samples tested. This new product is being marketed as a solution for “healthy” eating, when in fact 11 ppb of glyphosate herbicide consumption can be highly dangerous. Only 0.1 ppb of glyphosate has been shown to destroy gut bacteria, which is where the stronghold of the immune system lies. I am gravely concerned that consumers are being misled to believe the Impossible Burger is healthy.” stated Zen Honeycutt, Executive Director of Moms Across America. "
Is it? I haven't seen it being marketed as solution for healthy eating anywhere. It has quite a bit of salt and saturated fat in it, comparable to regular burgers.

Yes, some places or people are suggesting that it is a "healthy" alternative to real meat since it's supposed to be all plant based. And it will save the planet cause cattle won't have to be raised any more....and a whole bunch of other BS. Besides, I thought I saw a couple articles a while back that said excess soy wasn't good for us either.

Marketed as healthy, or earth friendly, or whatever, containing strong poisons isn't part of any marketing campaign.

And we all have cancer cells in our bodies...just what will it take to make them active and consume us? Some times it's a trauma of some kind, like a fall or a broken bone...or some times it can be consuming the wrong foods for us...and we are all different.
I certainly wouldn't want to consume something that causes cancer....I've already had one go round with cancer & don't want another....12 yrs. cancer free & counting here.

I wouldn't touch those impossible burgers with the amount of glyphosate that was found in them.
You aren't going to save any animals by not eating the meat. Growers will just cut their herds if sales go down or increase if the market is there.
I've been eating meat all my life & the cancer I had was not caused by meat consumption...it had another completely different cause. And I've eaten bologna & bacon for as long as I can remember...love them both.

(Somehow I feel this discussion will end up in the inferno.)

You won’t save a cows life by not eating meat, but eventually less demand for meat will lead to less cows being bred and raised. My household is a less meat household for health reasons, not ready to give up entirely.
And there is nothing that directly causes cancer. There are things that increase your risk of cancer. Not a supporter of smoking, but smoking greatly increases your risk of lung cancer. Not everyone who smokes get lung cancer, but a lot of them do. Processed meats are the same. I enjoy bacon, but I am not going to eat it every day. Pesticides and glycophosphates are the same. It is best to reduce your risk. But we make risk choices in life everyday. One of the most directly risky behaviors is riding in a car, but we do it all the time.

Surface water and ground water is only tested for what's expected to be there. I saw a study recently that a type of fluorine- hydrocarbon (the 'non stick' part of 'nonstick' pans) was never tested before, until recently, when it started showing up at the mouth of the Cape Fear river in NC.
The regulators didn't even have a test method to test for it, they had to make one. After a bunch of sampling, they determined the chemical was being discharged from a plant in the middle of the state, and rainfall events washed it into the watershed. Chemicals with fluorine-hydrocarbon links are extremely stable, which means they remain around forever - they've found this chemical in fish, in plants, in cows, in groundwater. The company that discharged it has been discharging it for 20 - 30 years without realizing it was even discharging it, because they never looked for it.
No telling how many other chemicals are floating around in the food chain and water sheds. They've found hormones in swamp water (the sewer treatment plants don't always break down pharma chemicals). We don't know because we've never looked for them.

Salt compounds aren't deleterious to mammals. Water is poison if the dose is large enough.

for the record, this company fucked me over pretty royally.
I can't provide any details, for legal reasons, but I sincerely hope that Beyond Meat crushes them.

When I rarely have a drink, it's a margarita or an after dinner drink like apricot brandy. Don't like either beer or wine. And I don't use Canola oil either due to nearly 100% of rape seed (canola) being GMO'd. I avoid GMOs when at all possible...no, it's not always possible for me, but I try. And here is another article about why Impossible Burger's CEO is wrong about GMO'd soy.... www.organicconsumers.org/blog/6-reasons-impossible-burgers-ceo-wrong-about-gmo-soyETA...about strange things being found in water, etc. If it's looked for DDT can still be found in soils & water in many places...and how long has it been banned in the US? We are killing ourselves slowly...with exposure to things we were never intended to be exposed to....from nature.
