Why does having children spaced far apart scream "poor people behavior"? I don't get it. Yeah I would think back to back to back would scream poor people behavior more so... spacing them apart usually takes some thought process and planning. Personally, the people I know who have 4 (or more) are either well-off or poor. So I would say it’s not middle-class behavior, not that it is poor person behavior.

It is travel for us. Many folks around here do not, or only their yearly driving trip to the Maryland beaches. We live frugally but will hop on a plane at the drop of a hat. I am amazed at the comments when we do, assuming we are 'well off'. Funny how everyone spends money differently.

I mentioned on another thread that I bought a Dodge Challenger. I got the raised eyebrows when I drove it to work. What cracks me up, is that had I bought a truck or SUV nothing would have been said. My car was cheaper than the trucks and SUVs in my area.

She came over after work and took me out to learn to shift. I have friends to this day that think I am nuts because of this one transactions

There's a good 10 years between my DH and his brother. My DH is the baby, his brother is the oldest. The first two siblings are close together. My in laws still lived close to/with family then. When they moved to MD they waited several years before having more kids. Harder to do without family support my MIL said. They are Catholic.

I get a lot of compliments on my jewelry. I like unique pieces. It isn't expensive but most of it is handmade. A lot of pieces were bought when traveling or at festivals, etc.
I also get a lot of compliments on what people usually refer to as a "cute little" purse or handbag. I don't carry a lot of stuff around so it does allow me the opportunity for some pretty cute handbags and cross body purses.
People seem to really like the decor of my condo. I used some bold colors that most people wouldn't use, but it came together very nicely.

That cable package with all the sports channels will cover a nice getaway . Those monthly subscriptions that you barely use can cover a couple days at a nice hotel. Not everyone want to do the work and analyze their budgets and where they can trim fat or they don’t want to admit that they would rather have the nice car (car payment), all the cable channels vs a nice vacation.

People in my age group (and younger) are awed by the fact that I work out six days a week, do triathlons, run races and swim in meets and I am over 60. Most of them have trouble with a flight of stairs.
Oh, and my new car. Never mind I bought it for cash and saved for it for nine years and drove crap before that. They just see new and shiny and don't consider the hard work and sacrifice behind it. Like no expensive vacations, retail therapy or dinners out. I don't bother with explanations, especially to those I know won't get it. I just smile and say "Thanks. Glad you like it."

I was thinking "nothing"- I mostly live in my endless supply of T-shirts from athletic events and dress so casually most of the time that people probably think my Rolex and my other jewelry are fake- but people who know me ARE impressed by my travels. I also get a lot of compliments from perfect strangers on my ostrich boots.
