LOL NO. The last time someone brought a dog into this building I think 7 or 8 people called public safety to report it.

Yup, but I was in a smaller company and had a real office at that point. There was always a reason behind it (e.g., office picnic in afternoon, giving him to my dog sitter who worked with me, or he had a dog challenge where I needed to keep an eye on him until we went to a vet). It's against the rules now.

Our local librarian brings her dog in but it's old and not very fiesty so it doesn't really mess with anyone. A puppy or younger dog could be a much bigger annoyance. And don't forget, you will have customers with allergies that won't appreciate it.

TD's dog is already part mine. When goes to work, he's my bestest friend.
It was hard keeping him off me when I was trying to get the incisions on my belly healed. He had the perfect knack in stepping in exactly the wrong place. But yesterday, he snoozed on my lap all the way to Seattle and was quite unhappy when I had to kick him off so I could get out of the car.

It's against Colorado law to have allergies to dogs.

I'm just saying someone will SBS, you know it'll happen. And if you want to sell them something irritating their allergies isn't the way to do it.

Clients very seldom came by at the old office and, if they did, we all were "warned" to wear business-casual clothes. (In our Ft. Collins office, they call it "sock days" - when you had to wear, you guessed it, socks.) Can you tell that a little bit of dog hair in a remote section of the office was the least of our concerns?

The timing of this thread is just too funny. We just got a "pet policy" sent out today. No more pets allowed on project--anywhere. The area I work is way too dangerous for an animal but we've still had people bring them through the building to get to their "office area". Some of the girls in the offices bring there pets (I feel so sorry for one dog, he gets tied to the back of the subaru. The lady leaves the hatch open, but half the time she doesn't back in--there is grass next to the parking lot he could get to that way--so he has to be on the hot asphalt half the time ) This big boss finally got tired of it, they really don't belong her at work, too many things could go wrong. That said, I did have my ex-bf's chocolate lab puppy here once. She hung out in the women's bathroom or our shop until it was time to go to the picnic at 11:00 (the bathroom had two doors, one for the dressing room and then another to reach the bathroom--with a note on the door to look out for her she wasn't getting out, besides, I was the only female working there). At break I took her to a fenced grassy area so she could play. She was a huge hit with the kids at the picnic!

Me? Would you believe working?
I don't either, although that was most of the case. How about harassing rovo and the other guys on the IBB board? ;D

I had a college professor who brought his dog to work everyday. The dog would carry a backpack with his treats and a toy and hold his own leash. He slept under the desk in the professor's office during the day. The only reason you'd ever know he existed is if you had previously told the professor that you liked dogs. Then he would send the dog to meet you around the desk, and you could pet him while talking to the professor if you wanted. Well, the other reason we knew he existed is that we would often work very late to very early in the morning and would sometimes see them come and go. A few of the students would bring their small dogs in after ~7pm or so if they were friendly. I think our department was special though, I can see other departments freaking out

My lawyer brings his dog to the office. I didn't realize he was there the first couple visits. Finally heard a heavy sigh one day and when I found out it was the dog I got to "meet" him. He'd just lay behind the desk until he was told he could move around, very well trained.

That's actually a smart idea and I'm surprised our office got away with it for so long, but the office manager had a dog that he took to a training class each week, so he condoned it. I think I brought in my pup maybe 5 total times in the 10 years I've had him and I was distracted all day each time.

It's harmless unless someone with allergies walks in. I doubt most places vacuum enough to keep up with the animals. I've been known to have my cat allergies go off in less than 10 minutes at my ex MIL's house. Dogs take a bit longer to irritate them but they will too, especially if there isn't a lot of vacuuming getting done.

I used to bring mine in on Fridays which was a half day every so often. One day about 4 of us brought our dogs and it was a bit of mayhem (the dogs got along great but got playing and carried away a bit). We got an email banning any more 'dog days'.

I had a pet rat that I kept in the lab for awhile. He was supposed to be part of a study, but had an injured leg and I couldn't use him. The rat sat on my desk for about 6 months and turned out being everyone's pet.
Then LAR found out and I had to either take him back to the animal facility or take him home. Since I had a cat at the time, hope wasn't an option, so found him a home.

Yeah, it can be fairly harmless like the library dog, but it can be not at all good either. I have one that's so scared of dogs that he gets all jumpy around the calmest, oldest dogs there are. Anyone want a 6 year old?
