the NRA is in chaos.
forced out President Oliver North this weekend. Indefinitely suspended their lawyer Steven Hart. Many members are calling for Wayne LePierre to resign.
NRA implosion update: 1. LaPierre writes letter to board claiming Oliver North tried to blackmail him 2. NRA sues, saying North double-dipped 3. North says NRA could lose non-profit status for mismanagement 4. North resigns 5. NRA suspends its top lawyer NRA is also being investigated for breaking campaign finance laws (gave a certain campaign 9,000X the donation limit). Membership has tanked & is continuing to decline. Revenue has hit rock bottom & now their tax exempt status is being questioned.
tick tock!

It can't happen soon enough....the demise!
And yes, years ago my first hubby was a member...but it isn't the same as it was then.

I hope all the gun enthusiasts that are disgusted at what a political animal the NRA has become will quit and go form a new Gun club based on the original guidelines of the NRA - to offer gun safety training, and to promote the enjoyment of collecting and firing weapons. The NRA got sidetracked with the gun manufacturers took it over and turned it into the gun lobby.
I tried to piece together the whole NRA infighting thing - it seems to be a fight between LaPierre and the NRA PR company Ackerman McQueen, which has a TV show with Oliver North as the narrator.

Yeah, sure, the gun manufacturers would never get their stooges in the NRA to fire off alarming warning about - say - a black man being elected president in order to create fear in the ranks and get everyone to rush out and buy more guns and ammunition.
No wonder the NRA is hard up for money right now, with Obama leaving office and Trump taking over, sales of weapons and ammo dropped... bet the NRA is hoping for another scary POTUS candidate in 2020 to rally their membership and bring in more cash.

Do everything to hinder the law bidding person!! That is why me and five million like me completely support the NRA,, They protect my rights!! I will most certainly financially support them!!
Why do you have to try to turn everything into something racist,,

Coyote have you read the news reports about why the NRA is turning on itself?
Ollie North claims the NRA leadership has been spending the dues money frivolously and illegally, on excessive travel, clothes, self dealing, etc.
So sure, keep sending them your hard earned dues money - throw in some of that fat Trump tax rebate, too - LaPierre needs a new pair of shoes.

I don't think the NRA is going anywhere. Unfortunately they thrive on the same divisiveness that the Russians foster. The NRA is no longer a gun safety and sportsman's advocate. It is a political machine. Why did it turn into a political machine? Which is only a part of it. You know,, Every week, I get an email with the different things going on,, Group dinners,, Gun safety, gun training, shooting competition, gun shows, of course defending My second Amendment Rights,
police training, the worlds foremost ballistics data base in which police department everywhere use data from it,
And here for an example, the constant clean up of areas of desert, and forest of junk and trash left by others! But for you and others here,, We, the NRA, is only a evil arm, of that more evil misguided Conservative, political group.

They're not an evil arm of the conservatives, they're the lobby for the gun manufacturers, and I wouldn't say the gun manufacturers are evil, they just need to find business opportunities, and they do it through scare tactic campaigns funneled through the NRA.
Case in point, the NRA refuses to even consider any changes to the gun laws, but the majority of their membership want to consider some practical changes. But the majority of the membership don't get a voice - it's just the NRA management, put in place by the gun manufacturers, who get to dictate the NRA political policy.

I dropped my NRA membership years ago, got tired of all the harassing calls and letters, grew even more tired of Wayne and his almost cult like status, he has done nothing but line his pockets and swindle millions of members. He can’t be forced out soon enough, hopefully with prosecution to account for his deceit.
I think as their membership continues to die off (literally in many cases), other conservation organizations tied to gun safety and getting youth involved in the outdoors will flourish.

NRA's in trouble. Chaos. They're dying off. Not relevant. Quote; The National Rifle Association has recovered from a membership drop after President Trump’s 2016 election and is now at the highest levels ever in its history.
New figures put the membership at approximately 5.5 million.
Typically the gun lobby membership dips after elections, especially in nonelection years like this year. But officials said it is “holding steady” at unusually high levels, an indication that members are steeling for the upcoming presidential election.

NRA doesn't release detailed membership totals. So what they're quoting is a number the NRA provided.

The NRA does not release detailed membership numbers but has repeatedly said in recent years that it has about 5 million members. The tax-exempt organization’s filings with the IRS for 2016 and 2017, the most recent years available, show combined losses of nearly $64 million. And income from membership dues plunged about $35 million in 2017.
The financial turmoil was seen as a key reason the NRA raised its dues last year for the second consecutive year.
Around the same time, the NRA saw its political influence wane during the 2018 elections and got outspent by gun control groups headed by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. More than a dozen NRA-backed congressional candidates lost in last year’s midterms.

There's a need for a gun safety advocacy/conservation group to protect hunting and fishing grounds. Something like Ducks Unlimited, but for more than just wild fowl hunting.
I had a friend who got drunk at a Ducks Unlimited banquet and spent way too much for a pedigree lab puppy who turned out to be perhaps the dumbest (but friendliest) canine on the planet.

More than 50% of their revenue comes from industry. It is not a grass roots effort. They also have restrictions on spending individual's donation for political purposes, so the funds really being misused aren't the funds from the gun manufacturers.

Yeah, sure, the gun manufacturers would never get their stooges in the NRA to fire off alarming warning about - say - a black man being elected president in order to create fear in the ranks and get everyone to rush out and buy more guns and ammunition.

You have to be kidding!!! a black man being elected president
It was Obama himself, the world greatest gun sales man,, only because he decided that We need more gun laws!!
Or hell,, let me get the jump on you,
the reason we didn't elect Hillary is cause she was a woman,
The real reason,,,, They are damned Democrats,, that are bound and determined take all guns,, ban all gun,, create tons of laws that do nothing to stop criminals. Try to remove the Second Amendment!!!
Do everything to hinder the law bidding person!! That is why me and five million like me completely support the NRA,, They protect my rights!! I will most certainly financially support them!!
Why do you have to try to turn everything into something racist,,
BS on Democrats wanting to take all guns away. We want sensible gun laws like background checks. Democratic household. Gun Owners. I told my DH to get a gun b/c Trump has stirred up so much racism against minorities that I am afraid for our future. DD's boyfriend is in the military, they spend a lot of time at the shooting range. She took a course to get her Concealed Carry permit last month and I went with her. She has her permit, I have yet to send in for mine. I think her boyfriend bought her a gun. DH wants to buy me one too.
Republicans want everyone to believe Democrats want to take their guns away, hopefully Republican voters still have some critical thinking skills left.

Think they curved up a half million ? They only have 5 million instead of 5.5 ? Still would like to see membership numbers for the biggest gun control group in the country, for comparison. I wouldn't have a problem with their supplied number.

Here is what is going to happen to cause the NRA to go away,,,
Nothing, Repeat nothing, North will wander off to some other thing, maybe disappear. If some funds were misappropriated,, they will be paid back, those involved will be punished. Unlike most groups,,The NRA is filled with law bidding people that expect the law to be carried out. There may be some dust from this,,, But no where near the dust stirred up by the media running in circles trying to make that mountain out of a mole hill! You bet, I will keep giving the NRA money,, and in return they will protect my Second Amendment Rights. You stirring up the dust is going to get me to quit the NRA?? Now that is

Let's take a second look at the other side of the political debate. Have you bee paying attention to the Super Big Top clown circus that is currently going on in Washington,, What Critical Thinking Skills are being put into play there?? I mean,, Impeach him!!! Vote him out!! Impeach him!! Vote him out!!
A side note to that,, If ,, I will repeat if, there is little or nothing in the Mueller report, Will the Congress member apologize to Barr for the liar comments?
Then again, if there is some there ,, the Liar part can stand. Now back to the ?? Critical Thinking Skills?? with the candidates,, Free school,, topped with forgiven student loans, Extreme measures for Climate Change control,, New Green Deal, and much more,,, Really?? Do you really think you will defeat Trump with everyone running fifty different ways,,
The candidates themselves, Holy crap,, where do you come up with these people?? What ever make most of these people think they are the one?? Annnnd ,, the one's that are qualified,, have a ton of baggage,, they are dragging around! Maybe you need to rethink,, those Critical Thinking Skills on the left side,, with all your infighting,, Trump will waltz right back in!!

Talking about guns, Yesterday, I was in Cabela's looking at guns, I wanted to see a Rock Island Arms shotgun, Model # VR 80,, it is sweet!!
I had to take a number stand there for a long time with all the customers buying guns to get my turn!

If there is still any doubt in your mind that there are in fact grounds for obstruction charges then it appears to be you that is not paying attention. Mueller basically spelled it out for you. And Barr should not only be removed from his position, but if he still holds an active law license he should be disbarred. He has abdicated his responsibility to the people of this country, lied to Congress, misrepresented the findings of the Special Counsel, and acted in defense of an individual rather than in defense of truth and justice. He was named to his position specifically to be a toady for Trump. He is not worthy of his office.
