I've seen DH cry twice, my grandpa never, and my step dad a few times. I don't mean to sound mean, heartless, or old fashioned, but it actually kind of scares me to see a man cry- I guess just due to how I was raised. I think it's completely acceptable for anyone to cry over the loss of a loved one, or a joyous moment, but it always makes me think the situation is pretty serious if I see a man cry. And I have no clue how to comfort them either. If I see a woman or girl cry, I will go over and hug and offer condolences, but sometimes men just want you to get the hell away from them when they cry, so it kind of leaves me at a loss of what to do.

OOOH! What's that sports movie where the guy dies.......................Brian's Song!! I hear that one's a real tear-jerker. It is and it gets to most guys every time they see it (or they excuse themselves to go to the bathroom - yeah, right) Putting down your dog is another time Attending a military funeral for a friend - Taps usually pushes a guy (this guy anyway) over the edge. The very end of Forever Young tends to get to me personally (yep, I'm sort of a romantic scorpio)

Kent didn't you come to tears when I dared you to smell my used underwear and you did? Now that's romantic.

The last time I cried was when my wife moved out. The time before that was when I held my MIL's cat in my lap as the vet put her to sleep. CarolinaKat ::Hearts:: MDW....hug

Seeing their child for the first time as it enters the world. I didn't know they did this more than once "Hey honey, I don't think that picture turned out, can we try it again?"

When do men cry? Never. At least real men. When I was in middle school one of the kids on the baseball team forgot his cup. The kid was the catcher. The catcher can't play without a cup, so he borrowed one from the second basemen. About halfway through the game the second basemen is running from first to second on a real slow rolling ground ball hit by somebody on his team. The pitcher of the visiting team fields it, spins around, and absolutely rockets that thing towards second base. His aim however was a little off, probably from the spin, and he throws it directly into the base runners crotch. Ruptured one of the kids testicles. The kid hit the dirt almost as soon as the ball hit him. The coach runs out there to check on him, but he gets up and walks off the field under his own power after a minute. Didn't shed a single tear. We of course didn't know how bad he'd been hurt until the next day. He said as soon as the ball hit he could feel something down there tearing and it hurt more than anything he'd ever felt, but he couldn't cry in front of the whole school like a . This is like a 12 year old kid, keep in mind. Pure manliness. His parents were so pissed that the coach let the kid play without a cup when he had specifically brought one too. Nowadays I have to imagine there would have been a huge lawsuit.

Also, agree with Kent about taps....I used to do military funerals back in 07, for six months, two or three a week but those soulful tunes got me ,misty eyed more often than not...

My dad would for sure cry tears of joy if the Cubs won the world series. ;D And my oldest brother cried over a high school football game. In a 33 year span, he'd participated in 3 state championship games - the first as a player and two as a coach. All three times, his teams exited the field as runner-up. In his 24th year at the helm, they finally came away with the title. To make things just a little more emotional (besides FINALLY winning), his two sons happened to be on that team. Much to his chagrin, his emotional display was publicized ... "Coach X was swept away in the moment, overcome with emotion. As he ran around the sideline like former North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano after Valvano's team stunned Houston in the 1983 NCAA championship game, X was torn by emotion. He was overcome with joy. He was thrilled for his players, who had worked so hard all year to make their dream come true. He was excited for his children, who finally got to experience a state championship. At the same time, part of X's heart went out to Other Coach and his players. After all, he had been in their shoes before. He knew the pain they were feeling. The Indians, just as X had experienced three times previously, had their dream snatched away from them, just like a knife through the heart. "I've felt that pain before. You've got that win and then it slips away. I really feel for them right now." As the team received its state championship trophy, the biggest applause was saved for Coach X. As senior lineman Ross X handed the trophy to Coach X, he turned to the fans in the south end zone and pointed to them. Tears were streaming down his face as he thanked the crowd. At long last, at the age of 48, X was on top of the world. After 34 long years, he finally had the state championship he had coveted, had dreamed about for so long, had seen slip just out of his grasp three previous times." I think he may have been crying out of sheer relief not to go down in the annals as the losing-est coach in state title appearances! (there were no tears in the losses btw)

I cry watching movies, reading sad things in the newspaper, whenever I feel sad. I lost my guy card a few years ago. I have to get up early to read the paper before anyone else in the house because I often end up in tears with my coffee. I used to think I had some deep seated emotional problems, but now I know it's just who I am.
I almost always tear up when I see one of my kids excelling at sports, etc. I have often said I would be a perfect professional mourner. I can cry at any funeral I go to, even if I don't know the deceased.

DH and I both cried when we had to put our dogs down. He cried at Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
He did not cry after his mother's horrific car accident or at any point during the following 6 month hospitalization.
