What year and trim level? We have a 2004 z06, bought new. It’s a fun toy. However, we didn’t get as much use out of it as we hoped, after dog and kid arrived. DH took it to several track days when we were in CA-you go in with a group that rents out the race track for a day so you can drive it all out. If you buy new, you can pick it up from the factory (KY/TN) and they’ll give you a personal tour then you can roadtrip home.

There was an ad about it right after it happened, I believe for the insurance company that covered the collapse.

Why a corvette? Do you want to go really fast in a straight line? How about something more unique and stylish? A MG TC or TD? A Morgan? Or even a vintage Avanti?

What about the cars? Those were priceless, one of a kind models that could never be replaced. Oddly enough, I was reading about that today. The story is about the gas explosion in NC that damaged a Porsche collection.
Whether a classic car can be salvaged can depend on its rarity and value, said Katie Ellison, marketing manager for the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky.
That facility suffered its own disaster when a sinkhole swallowed eight cars in 2014. Three were restored and five were beyond repair, but all were put back on display.
“In our case, there was historical significance,” Ellison said. “We had the one millionth Corvette, we had a prototype Corvette. So there were ones that were not replaceable. That’s why it was important for us, whether they were restored or kept as is, to keep them on display because it tells their story before and after the sinkhole.”

Why a corvette? Do you want to go really fast in a straight line? How about something more unique and stylish? A MG TC or TD? A Morgan? Or even a vintage Avanti? That used to be a standard line about Corvettes- and really, any American muscle car. I'm not a sports car enthusiast, and had just assumed that Corvettes of today handle and corner magnitudes better than in the old days. No? Corvette’s modern handling is significantly better than, say the 60’s. However, as a 775 hp street car, I expect that it’s a lot more suitable for blasting across the desert at 100+ mph than it is for winding mountain roads. My thought is, unless you’re all about the speed, for a fun car, why not drive something with a bit of classic styling (the MG’s or Morgan), or a limited production model, such as the Avanti (Total production since 1963, about 7,500 cars. Production many years was less than 125 cars. By comparison, Chevy builts between 25,000 and 35,000 Corvettes many years. How pedestrian.)

We just had a small local car show yesterday. Seven Corvettes on display. Nothing real special about any of them really. Now the Camaro Z28 was nice as was a 1978 Jaguar convertible. The blue Carrol Shelby was a good one
