Does anyone know if partial cans of black beans, kidney beans, or garbanzo freeze well?

They freeze, but you will have some texture issues - can be used for stews, soups etc. where you dont need them whole.

<<Nancy waves at her former neighbor>> I agree with saveinla; I do freeze them, but then I will use the bits I freeze as bean burgers (chop them up and mix them with bread crumbs and veggie bits) or to thicken soups and stews if I puree them.

What they all said. If you can vacuum seal them, they seem to do a tad better than ziplock baggies or throwing in a plastic container. Just my opinion though.
ETA: you can dry garbanzo beans (chick peas) and "bake" them for crunchy snack or add to salad. But wouldn't be bothered with just a few.

Does anyone know if partial cans of black beans, kidney beans, or garbanzo freeze well? You'll have to take the remaining beans out of the can though. You cannot freeze them in the can.

Lets see now, according to the food police you must not forget to label the year, day, and month that you froze them.

And more importantly on the label what kinda bean they are!! Wouldn't want anyone to pass on and have family trying to decide if those are black, red, chick pea, white bean, navy bean - well you get the picture

Purée the beans with a little chicken broth or olive oil. Freeze in Baggy or other container and add to soup or other future dish.
