RDT, when you joined, it was under the exalt button. It negated your karma. That is how some people had negative karma.

Yes you do...by not voting. And, with a write-in, you get a "none of the above" choice.

Just because a handful of people in just one of the many boards vote one way or another, why would the admin interpret that as a mandate to change a feature for a forum with many hundreds of people?

Exactly. We the people cast our votes, then the electoral college casts the meaningful vote, which is why the popular vote is sometimes overruled.

I vote to get rid of both Smite and Karma buttons. I think both are juvenile, but that's just me. I don't care about "brownie points" (Karma) and if someone doesn't like what I have to say, well, that's fine too. When I disagree, I TRY to do it without being nasty anyway.

If the Karma button remains I might use it when someone has given me some info that is really helpful. I don't think I'd ever use the Smite button though But again, that's just me.
