I was looking into using YNAB but I feel guilty paying the $12/mo fee when I could do the same thing with a pen & paper for free. Does anyone highly recommend YNAB despite the monthly fee & why I have been using YNAB for forever (at least 13 years), and would be lost without it. I consider it instrumental in turning my finances around and allowing me to save much more than I was before, however, I am still using YNAB4 which is a stand alone program. They went to the subscription based 4 or 5 years ago and I honestly don't know what I'll do when/if it quits working. Although I loathe subscriptions, I'm guessing I will move to the web-based version. You really can't do on pen and paper what you do with YNAB. I mean you COULD, but it would be a lot of work. Have you done the free trial? The learning curve is pretty steep and I would say it takes more like 3 months before you "get" it, so the one month trial isn't the best. I've heard they extend it if you contact them and say you need more time. justme would be the one to ask about the new version though as it is different in a lot of ways from YNAB4.

MPL has been my contact when I manage to mess up my YNAB. I too still use YNAB 4......I don't want to be be spending money to use a program that doesn't fit my usage.
