Now now, it's starting to sound like you've presumed he was guilty before he had a trial. And I know you don't like people to do that.

Grand Juries don't often put 16 charges against some one , and the two men that were in on it already said what happened ,, complete with a cancelled check!

He most certainly should were to trial, to determine his innocents, or guilt! Even on the most liberal MSN,,the poll is something like 91% thought that he should go to trial.

Well, whoever gave you your law degree was obviously a charlatan.
Charges are dropped after indictments all the time. Indictments aren't anything close to a guilty verdict.

I would be happy to show a trial of public opinion.

I don't have all the evidence, and there wasn't a trial, so I can't say for sure. The whole situation has been rather confusing from start to finish.
But - all the charges were dropped. He didn't plead down to a lesser offense and it didn't go to trial, so the prosecutor didn't have him by the balls -- unless someone fucked up majorly in the investigation. Considering how high profile the case was, I'm disinclined to believe that anyone was bought off. So my money is on someone either majorly fucked up in the investigation so that it couldn't go to trial, or he was able to provide evidence that at the very least sufficiently muddled the waters. The statement from Smollett's attorney points to the latter. It'll be interesting if the DAs office says anything more.

One would think the thread author would at least be happy Smollett didn't get shot by a white police officer.

I find it interesting that the same thread author was all excited about DT being investigated and swore DT had been completely vindicated since he wasn't indicted. A black gay man is investigated and found to be not guilty and automatically he must have paid someone off.

I would be happy to show a trial of public opinion. How about a "trial of public opinion" on whether Trump is guilty and how he should be impeached?

A black gay man is investigated and found to be not guilty and automatically he must have paid someone off. You realize there were multiple confessions, forensics, video evidence... When the Mayor of Chicago and the Superintendent of Police are both going on record calling this a "whitewash of justice" and saying money talks, you might want to sit on the race/gay trump card, even if it works in every other thread.

One would think the thread author would at least be happy Smollett didn't get shot by a white police officer. You know that he posts and criticizes the blue shield, and not the race of the person wearing the uniform. He has posted shootings by black and white police officers. His thread on police shootings is not racial, and you seem to want to make it that way. His thread is about police over reach using weapons. Many of his posts on that thread involves innocent black people being assassinated by police of all colors through obvious abuse of non necessary weapons use.

It seems there is more to this than meets the eye. He served two days community service at Jesse Jackson's Rainbow coalition doing "community work". It is also reported a former member of Obama's White House stepped in and asked for some relief for Jussie in the Prosecutor's office. No one is naming that person yet, but Valorie Jarrett was a confident of President Obama and both were from Chicago.....but it could have been another underling that they are referencing as Emanuel was also part of that Administration and I believe he would never come after Jarrett publicly. As Frank Sinatra sung, "Chicago, my kind of town" back in the 70's, Jussie is now singing the same song these days Usually when the Prosecutor makes a deal like this the community service comes after ANNOUNCING THE DEAL , with the caveat if the community service is not perfrormed correctly, the Prosecutor will reinstate the charges. This settlement is back ass backwards, but we are talking Cook County Illinois here and New Jersey has to play second fiddle to corruption in this case, as Chicago is number one in these categories.

As there were in DT's case. Hell, if you look up stool pigeon in the dictionary you'll find a picture of Cohen. And of course the brothers said they did it. They were given immunity for saying so. There has always been something not quite right about this case. I really hope we all find out what at some point.

And of course the brothers said they did it. They were given immunity for saying so. You would lie and claim your sibling perpetrated a hate crime hoax with your assistance... to preemptively immunize yourself from legal woes that might befall you if/when your innocent brother was prosecuted? "And of course..." Not "It's conceivable, if both brothers were fools and cowards, and their family was dysfunctional beyond measure, ..."
Of course they'd do that. Doesn't everybody do that? My brother did that to me last week. Then, of course, we beat our mom with a baseball bat. That's just what families do, amirite? Money, celebrity, and connections talk. It's a sad fact of life. I don't personally wish any ill on Mr. Smollett, but I hope the enormity and the folly of what he did stay close to his heart for a long while. He acted no better than an ISIS propagandist, and if the hoax hadn't been discovered and debunked, he might eventually have had innocent blood on his hands.

Don't the receipt for the rope and bleach that was bought at the hardware store,
And the fact he admitted to it to "Try to get a larger salary" In stead of actually being a hate crime! The thirty five hundred dollar check he paid to the brothers for their admitted part. Yea,,, He is completely innocent!
