I at times have wondered if the old way of picking a parties Presidential and VP candidates, like in smoke filled rooms by party leaders... where they tried to get the strongest candidate , instead as now where it's the one who wins most delegates in primaries throughout the country before the national conferences, wasn't the best way... Seems we got some very good folks, even the losers...that way. Possible it's my complete dissatisfaction in our present POTUS , complete contempt really, that has me feeling this way...The need in my feeling that the man has to be replaced, and it's before the release of Muellers report, now being suggested possible released end of next week..
The above just a thought of mine....me bad but definitely not the first or last time. I agree for the most part. My problem with the old way, there was lots of payback that came to these cronies, which media ignored. If we went back to this process today I am not sure the media would be more open to expose the bs payoffs. As far as the "payback"....just the price u pay....some payback was and would be expected...As the Donald has shown...warts can and are overlooked....just saying...

Fivethirtyeight has been running articles on some of them. I haven't been reading them because I'm not worrying about this right now. It's too early for me to care much. I don't want an old, white guy though. And I think Elizabeth Warren can serve the US better by staying in the Senate. ^very much, yes.

Funny you mention that. I thought of him the other day for some reason and thought, why not? But he has really dropped out of all that since 2000. Satire from The Borowitz ReportDukakis Announces 2020 Bid: “Everyone Else Is”By Andy Borowitz WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The former Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis announced on Tuesday morning that he would seek the Democratic nomination for President, declaring, “Everyone else is.” Explaining his rationale for running, the 1988 Democratic Presidential nominee told reporters, “As everyone else started jumping into the race, I started feeling a little left out.” Additionally, Dukakis explained, “People have been stopping me on the street and saying that they thought I was already running. So, whatever.” Complete article here: Dukakis Announces 2020 Bid: “Everyone Else Is”

Darn it. We are getting thread drift already and it is not from conservative side of the board! Shall we start a Republican Presidential candidate thread now? I would, but it would be so damn boring, when discussing all the candidates but candidate number one!

Question, was this in response to my speaking about specific states? If so, he is from (or was?) Tennessee and not from either west or east coast states. Or did he announce? Tennessee and even Indiana while not huge population states have played wel over the years with legitimate candidates, but failed to elect their candidates nationally.

Dems won't let Fox News host primary debateThe Democratic National Committee said Wednesday it would not permit Fox News to host a presidential primary debate, citing an explosive story this week alleging deep ties between the conservative network and President Trump’s inner circle. In a statement, DNC chairman Tom Perez said he had held conversations with Fox News about potentially allowing the network to host a primary debate. But he said the story, published in The New Yorker, caused him to end conversations with the network. “Recent reporting in The New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and FOX News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates. Therefore, FOX News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates,” Perez said in a statement. Complete article here: Dems won't let Fox News host primary debate

Do we add Joe Biden to the list yet? Has anyone else committed that should be listed at this time?

Good luck in trying to keep the posters rounded up and penned in one thread.

Whatever. Feel free to expunge our Gov. Inslee as he shouldn't even be bothering, the idiot. Sorry, but I thought that was a large part of his platform. I agree he has other political platforms he proposes. Since I have not commented on other contestant's platforms, that was unfair of me ( I hope I haven't commented on other candidate's platform agenda yet, and it is hard to keep bias out of my posts, but will certainly try. TY)

Here is a more up-to-date list...some names have been added.
The following 21 elected officials and notable public figures—19 Democrats and two Republicans—have filed to run for president with the Federal Election Commission or announced exploratory committees.

Bernie Sanders (I), a U.S. senator from Vermont, announced that he was running for president on February 19, 2019.[17]
Eric Swalwell (D), a U.S. representatice from California, announced that he was running for president on April 9, 2019.

I don't know how much Beto has raised, but Mayor Pete has raised over 7 million & that was before the official announcement.
I like Mayor Pete. If you don't know anything about him...find some of his speeches or his tv appearance and listen to him.
Well, I was on page one when I posted this...sorry, guess you are up-to-date. Several NEED to fade FAST! Nope, don't add Joe until he makes it official.

Mayor Pete wasn't official until today...he only had an "exploratory" before today. And Eric Swalwell just announced too....D, Ca. So both of these had been put on the list before they were "official". Total 21 at present.

So both of these had been put on the list before they were "official". Total 21 at present. The more I see of him, the more I like Mayor Pete. Mostly, I love thinking about what debates between him and Trump would look like - Pete is a Rhodes scholar, speaks multiple languages, ex military, went to Harvard, very calm and thoughtful, very compassionate. He has policies and can articulate them. He is not mean or divisive. He would mince Trump. Trump would get flustered and he might even utter the F word if he gets too rattled. It would be awesome.
There will be a segment of Trump's minions that would never vote for him because he's gay, but that's the same segment that would never vote for a dem anyway, since (at least around here) Dems are automatically excluded for being pro-choice, so I don't know that he'd lose more votes than a straight dem.

Major candidates listed from this site in order listed. Cory Booker, Senator Pete Buttigeig, Mayor of South Bend Indiana (I do not consider him a major candidate, but they have him in this list) Julian Castro former HUD Secretary from Texas John Delaney, former House member Tulsi Gabbard, house Rep from Hawaii Kristen Gillibrand, Senator NY Kamala Harris, Senator California Amy Klobucher, Senator Minnesota Bernie Sanders, Senator Vermont Elizabeth Warren, Senator Massachusetts Jay Inslee Governor, Washington state John Hickenlooper, former Governor of Coloarado Mike Gravel Tim Ryan Other considered "second tier candidates" Michael Arth, ArtistHarry Braun, Consultant Ken Nwadike Jr, documentary film maker Robbie Wells, former football coach Marriane Williamson, Author, spiritual teacher Andrew Yang, Entrepeneur (imo, he belongs in the upper echelon group over two that are there) This is the current list from the Democratic site. I thought there were others, but they must not have officially announced as of yesterday. Does anyone have a person that is missed at this time? If so, list the person and a link with their announcement to run. I thought Julian Castro's brother was one that also announced, but he is not listed. Lets add to the list, Mike Gravel Tim Ryan

I agree with this. I also think Biden needs to not run. We don't need any more rich old white men running for President. They are both in their 70's! I am really liking what I am seeing from Mayor Pete. He's a smart, compassionate man, and a refreshing change from the norm. I look forward to seeing his proposals and policies as we move closer to election time.
