Do you ever find yourself irrationally irritated or otherwise really, really annoyed by certain commercials, not necessarily because of content but because of some aspect of their presentation? Commercials generally don't bother me since I understand that they pay for the shows I enjoy watching, and I can usually ignore them or tune them out anyway. Some of them are clever and fun. And sometimes there are dogs or other animals, which always cheers me up. So, for the most part, I'm a live-and-let-live sort of person with regard to commercials. However, every now and I find myself irrationally irritated by a commercial. That whispering Michelob Light commercial from the Super Bowl (which keeps turning up in the middle of my cooking shows) just sets my teeth on edge. Just say it. Whispering is annoying. The smug person who narrates the Panera commercials is also really annoying. I don't understand why I would want organic "beer" that will make me pee 1,000,000 times that night. And it's not beer, it's beer flavored water.

I don't watch alot of TV with commercials (I'm usually streaming netflix or watching a dvd). I do sometimes watch "antenna TV" - so cooking or something about making your house nicer shows.
I'm ok with the never ending ads for lawyers for mesothelioma claims, DUIs fixed, and hurt on the job insurance claims. They make me think my life is so much better because I do not have any of these problems (since there must be zillions of people with these problems (why else would anyone pay for the ad if only to hook in a few people?)
I find the "find a career!" ads for local for profit colleges (that seem really questionable when they list off the 15 or so "career paths" they specialize in) to be rather predatory and creepy.
I find the ads for drugs disturbing. Why are drugs being advertised to me - like I'm suppose to go into the doctor and say "I want X drug for my problem! it's better than the one you are prescribing! I saw it on TV!" (FWIW: I found the ad for a drug for some incurable terminal lung ailment that claimed to insure a few extra months of life to be really disturbing. How many 10's of thousands of people are dying from this lung ailment AND watching non-network TV?
Most car ads are un-memorable and inoffensive. Couldn't even tell you what brand of car they represent. Although I hate the ones with the guy talking to himself in what I assume is a luxury car (no idea what brand).

I cannot think of any current TV commercials which bother/annoy me. I am sure some have in the past. What does bother me though are the videos on the MSN website and the commercials which play before the video I want to watch. I get it the commercials pay MSN to have it shown. But when a video I want to watch is only thirty seconds long and the commercial which must play before the video begins is 90 seconds long. You cannot go to another tab and look at something else while the commercial you don't want to watch plays. The commercial stops until you go back to the tab the commercial and video is on and then it continues. Annoying as hell. Many times the commercial is 30 seconds long and the video is less. If a commercial is over 30 seconds, I just click out of the site as most reports or videos that follow are rather lame and not really important. The GEO Beats site is great for doing this.

Apparently I am not evolved enough to experience the ASMR "euphoria." Doesn't make me tingly at all; just makes me want to poke the responsible parties with a stick. Probably another manifestation of the significant level of Neanderthal variants in my DNA.

The most believable commercials are:
Tom Selleck hawking reverse mortgages.

I try to avoid watching live tv. Commercials annoy me. Sometimes it seems like I have to sit through 10 minutes of commercials to see just 5 minutes of whatever I'm watching before it's commercials again. I love having a DVR. A couple of weeks ago my BF and I were watching a movie or something late at night. We were at his house and he doesn't have a DVR. Sigh. Every single commercial break was filled with commercials about prescription medicines and attorneys. It was kind of strange. I wondered if that said anything about who they considered was likely to be watching whatever we were watching. The prescription commercials are something else. You see a commercial for a medicine to treat one condition, then a few minutes later a commercial for a medicine to treat a condition that can be caused by the first medicine. And the long lists of side effects and warnings, good grief! I think I've read that those commercials aren't allowed in some other countries. I think that's a good idea, I wonder how often patients demand their Dr prescribe them some drug they've seen on a commercial and don't want to listen if their Dr thinks it's not appropriate for them for whatever reason. All the time- that's why they are the way they are. The US didn't allow that kind of advertising until relatively recently either - it was around 1997/1998 timeframe. However, pharma didn't used to advertise like it did because of the type of drugs and the patients that needed them. You used to see more commercials for drugs that were optional (you know - ED type drugs) as lot of others were just physician driven. But now that different drug types are used for the same type of condition, they want you to pick theirs by pestering your doctor so they can get a blockbuster, or at least more sales. Or a new drug for a condition, etc. Pharma ad spending has ramped up a lot in the last few years.... That doesn't help the cost of drugs.

They see the drug commercials on American cable, then demand those drugs from the doctors....even when they're contraindicated. "Doc, I need the drug I saw on TV!" "No, you don't. It could kill you because you're diabetic/hypertensive/on other meds." "Ill go to another doctor! I'm sure it could help me."

Another one I find annoyingis the Geico commercials. I hate that stupid pig squealing.
Most obnoxious is this local lawyer who plays his commercial non stop on Sunday mornings.
"Well here it is, Sunday morning, and you, or someone you love is in jail."
No - asshat, no one in my family is in jail, thanks for asking, and if by chance one was, the last thing I'd do would be to hire your smug smart ass face to represent them.
DH and I like to watch Sunday Morning, but one of us has to keep the remote in our hand at all times, or we'd hurt ourselves racing to find it to mute this guy.

A commercial for a show called Love and Hip Hop on VH1. Sling has limited commercials and tend to be the same ones over and over.
I yelled at the TV that I'll watch the damn show just please make it stop!

Hurt in a car? Call William Mattar!!! OMG, they play in your area, too? I thought he was just local. The firm with the fours!!! I like him (slightly nerdy) better than Cellino & Barnes - those two are creepy. And they started the whole phone number = one digit SUNG seven times as jingle. Eight, eight eight, eight-eight, EIGHT-eight. There's a mattress salesman whose ads are cringeworthy. "We sell for less, a lot less!" He has a grating voice, complains about the competition ("I call them the screamers"), goes on and on and on and on forever. His ads feel like they are 10 minutes long. Dude, you are your own worst enemy - you are NOT making me want to buy from you - I'm afraid I'd run into you in your store and wouldn't be able to get you to shut up.

They no longer use it (I don't think), but the Comcast commercial that said they are going to "LET" you do the work yourself (pay bill, troubleshoot etc) and they weren't going to charge you (they are giving you this service free!). OMG- those made me crazy! Let's see. I can do all the work myself, and you aren't going to charge me for doing it? Wow. That's big of you! To this day, every time Comcast suggests I use their My Account app I cringe and get a twitch. -This happened just yesterday. Not good.

There was one commercial for pumpkin spice creamer recently that just filled me with an inexplicable rage. Why the fuck are you having coffee with a gingerbread cookie?? And her voice. Just....gaaaaaahhhhhhh. But otherwise, no. I do laugh at how all the drug commercials point out not to take the drug if you are allergic to said drug. I would have thought that went without saying?? I get "don't take this drug if you are allergic to X component in drug you may not be aware was in here" but literally "don't take Cialis if you are allergic to Cialis" seems like a pretty big duh.

Ive spent a long time trying to figure out the drug commercial warning "If you experience swelling of the tounge, throat, lips, face and/or hands please call 911 right away".
If I have any of those how the heck can I call 911?
I suppose if I'm with someone they could but what if I'm alone?
