......and here is a link to back that up.... and also notice the words "swank" and "50 fat cats".... I'll highlight them... www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/03/29/2011-03-29_obama_cheered_in_new_york_during_visit_to_un_with_bill_clinton_ahead_of_pricey_f.htmlPresident Obama rolled into Harlem on Tuesday night for his first major Democratic dinner-for-dollars of the 2012 campaign season. After a whirlwind day in the city, Obama attended the swank $30,800-a-plate soiree with 50 fat cats at the new Red Rooster restaurant on Lenox Ave. The cash bash raked in a cool $1.5 million for the Democratic National Committee. As hundreds of New Yorkers jammed the streets outside hoping to get a peek at the Prez, Obama rubbed elbows with movers and shakers inside the hot spot. He received a standing ovation as he emerged from the kitchen after being ushered in through a back alley.

That's a man of the people, alright! I wonder if he lit his cigar with a $100 bill, then snuffed it out on the back of one of the busboys when he was done with it?

Yes he is and a lot of Fat Cats from Silicon Valley are giving him megabucks although one is now under investigation for pay to play.. Steve Westly's career has long straddled the worlds of progressive politics and alternative energy. Now, Westly's roles bankrolling green-energy firms such as Tesla Motors (TSLA) and alternative-energy-friendly politicians such as President Obama have drawn questions about whether the former eBay (EBAY) executive and Democratic state controller's investments unduly benefitted from his political connections. An investigative report this week by the nonprofit Center for Public Integrity in Washington, D.C., and ABC News suggested that after Westly raised $500,000 for Obama's presidential bid, cleantech firms backed by his Menlo Park venture capital firm clinched more than a half-billion dollars in federal aid. Both Westly and the White House denied any impropriety. The report drew a puzzled response from Silicon Valley Leadership Group CEO Carl Guardino, who wondered why his longtime friend should be dinged for engaging in the kind of civic involvement people say they expect and want from their business executives. www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_17755449?nclick_check=1

Ok and I know this may be a tempest in a tea pot or no there, there but if you take the time to read about this latest investigation into Obama's inner circle you have to wonder..

;Republicans complaining on how much some one might spend on a election? Especially when at first upset when Supreme Court ruled corporations can give whet they want to , no holds barred, just send and contribute away, till they found out they got more then double from the businesses the the Dems did? , Now think SCOTUS decision one of the more brilliant ones of the court in the past decade. Such Hippocrates.

Here's the rest of the story about Westly if anyone is interested in this news in he Mercury News out here
The report said the four companies funded by The Westly Group that received Energy Department money were Tesla Motors of Palo Alto, RecycleBank of New York City, EdeniQ of Visalia and Amyris Biotechnologies of Emeryville.
Tesla and Amyris launched public stock offerings last year, the report said.
Tesla is no longer in The Westly Group portfolio, though Westly is still invested in it.
The report quoted Diarmuid O'Connell, Tesla's vice president of business development, who said Westly served as a "sounding board," but didn't aid the company's grant application.
Guardino said he's unsure how the news report has been received among Silicon Valley business leaders, noting that Tesla and Westly and Doerr's firms are not SVLG members.
But Guardino said it would be "sad" if the report "puts a chill in any executive's mind about being involved in society and government."
Josh Green, a venture capitalist who heads cleantech investments for Mohr Davidow Ventures in Menlo Park, noted that the loan guarantee program was actually begun under President George W. Bush's administration, though it was not funded until the congressionally approved stimulus program was launched by the Obama White House.
And while Green said he had supported Obama, he put little stock in the suggestion that Westly or Doerr had used political ties for the benefit of their portfolio companies.
"There are about 160 people in the Department of Energy who are responsible for vetting these loan applications, and I would be shocked if anybody from the White House talked to anybody in that office," he said.
Green said only one of the companies in his own portfolio has applied for a loan guarantee under the program, which is set to expire in September.

Why buy it when the tea party is going to give it to him? Sounds wasteful.

Obama just proved to anyone who hadn't known already that he is just another in a long line of politicians who can be bought if the price is right.
He funneled our money into 'green' energy, and now 'green' energy is paying him off with the green. No different than oil money or tobacco money. It's all graft.
No hope. No change. Same-o.

Meg Whittman proved it takes more than money to get elected last November.

A. Those are mainly small donors buying the election, actually. B. ETHICAL Fat cats for good government, clean environment, and good jobs. C. The Daily News is as bought off as the Moony Times and Faux Noise/WSJ... D. Except big oil and Pharma have hundreds of times as much money as Alternative energy corps, and are pushing pollution and actual big time corruption. You have NO EVIDENCE of alternative energy graft- kinda impossible, actually....

Meg Whittman proved it takes more than money to get elected last November. Not so sure I would agree the political experts reviewed all of the voting surveys in CA and the reason Meg lost was because of Nanny Gate...the hispanic community didn't give her the required votes she needed to beat Jerry Brown...so thank Gloria Allred for torpedoing Meg ..

Meg Whittman proved it takes more than money to get elected last November. Brown was elected after the most expensive governor's race in California history. Whitman spent more than $160 million during her campaign, including $141.5 million of her own money, shattering national records for individual spending on a political campaign. Brown raised more than $32 million for his campaign, and labor unions and other groups spent an additional $25 million on Brown's behalf. latimesblogs.latimes.com/california-politics/2010/11/jerry-brown-projected-winner-in-california-governors-race-1.html With that kind of spending difference, it is hard to disagree that she proved that it takes more than money.

doesn't it almost always come down to who has the most money, wins?"follow the money" r. perot There is a bit of cause and effect that can come into play. Sometimes it is that people give money to the person they want to win to help them win and if a candidate has more supporters like that of course they win the election. Or sometimes the people give money to the candidate who has a good lead already in polls to gain influence with the eventual winner. Money is an indicator, not the cause.

where does "soft money" come into the equation? I think you add 80% of soft money to that spent by the candidate. The fact that the main campaign doesn't actually control when/where/how it is spent makes it a little less effective than straight spending by the candidate.

Yes he is and a lot of Fat Cats from Silicon Valley are giving him megabucks although one is now under investigation for pay to play.. (partial Quote of P.I.) Obama received much less money from Silicon Valley, then he did from NY bank institutions and stock brokerage people. He cannot count on that same money this time. That and the new Congressional district redistribution will be enough to keep the President from being re-elected.
