I just bought new curtains $200 for one window and almost half price! I didn't have to have them. Going to get DD 2 pair for her windows, they are 95 long so adds to cost. I fear Pennys will stop selling them soon and these are very nice lined ones. I had some sheers I ordered online cheap for the bedroom and yes they were cheap, I ironed the wrinkles out but they still aren't great. Cannot even imagine having to iron them. I nee to comparison shop at Sams I think some of their stuff is to high I impulse shop to often. But I have reduced a lot of basic expenses. Why don't you make them? I have looked at what the price is on custom curtains and it's enough to make you gag. HOWEVER, most of the ones I've seen (I have a friend who has used custom made curtains) and they look fabulous. This way, you can choose the fabric you want, at the price you want. I still have not put up any curtains in this house. We have only blinds, and most of our open windows looks out into forestry, so I am not inclined to obstruct my view as I like watching the animals in the trees. I have thought about valences, but have not found what I wanted unless I go the custom route. I have about 4 big windows in the living/dining room and another 3 for our bedroom (plus a slider). One of the few times I really wished I sewed.

I had plantation shutters put on the windows in the rooms I use most in my house. HUGE extravagance but I love them and I think they keep a bit of the cold out at night. I sew but I'm guessing I'd need a heavier-duty machine to handle the layers. My SIL does her own curtains AND slipcovers. If I ever need anything done I'm gonna fly her out here.

I paid LESS for the nice lined, quality curtains I bought then I could make them for. I used to and I may have to again but not right now. I have a pair of wine lined drapes for DD's room but we are going into spring and want to put up something lighter for summer. She is happy with nothing but the cellular blinds.
In my living an dining room I have nothing up but drapes on the 6 windows on the back wall in this one large wall in here. I close them at night, usually sheers in the summer. Nothing on the transoms or the glass door, but it gets very cold here in the winter. The rest of the house has custom cellular blinds and a custom blind over the sink, well over $2000 for those. They are down at night and up during the day, it helps with the cold since I have so many big windows. Plus I pull the drapes over at night to make even more layers. Like now supposed to be 12 tonight and hubs said not get above freezing for the next week. Having all these big windows uncovered makes it chilly and increases the heat bills. If not for that would likely have nothing but the blinds.

We spend too much on satellite and I buy some name brands. I don't comparison shop since I already know most of who is cheaper after spending 30+ yrs. in retail mostly in grocery & drug stores. I do buy on sale...and I stock up when sale prices are good. Run out of toilet paper?...not in my house! Run out of paper towels?...nope, not here. I belong to both Sam's & Costco & save by shopping both of them & there is only 2 of us. I also have 2 freezers and keep things rotated in there & a large pantry.

I think we have 3 or 4 cases of TP in the basement and 2 or 3 cases of paper towels. Now I have a dozen or more of bars of soap we each like. Also just bought 2 big containers of All online. I have tons of cleaning products, shampoos, etc. Next I need to use up Cascade I have had for some time as I like the pods better.

Repotting a couple of plants then out to clean my truck inside. Hubs brought the mower and wagon up, I took a bunch of trash out to the dumpster.

The drapes were given to me by a friend, because she got new ones that match her colour scheme. She used them for only a few months. The curtain rods were given to me by another friend, who moved, and they don't fit. Didn't pay a penny! The yellow sheers in the kitchen were bought at the Salvation Army. They still had the price tags on. They cost me all of $6 and they're perfect!

I did a very YM thing yesterday. I bought new throw pillow covers. I got 6, but only bought 4 pillows, thinking I may not keep all the covers. I took our old sad shredded pillows and stuffed them into the new covers. I now have 6 new pillows on my couch.

I can't figure out how to see the next silde, I either end up in a different article or I end up in an ad when I click on the arrow to see the next slide - and yet everyone else seems to have managed to see the whole article. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not buying anything other than Heinz ketchup and Hellman's mayo. It's worth the extra $4 per month.
I go to the movies probably four times a year. I'm getting popcorn
I buy on sale when I can, but sometimes you just need to replace something right away.

Oldsters here who still buy DVDs on occasion. We enjoy watching and re-watching the many DVDs we currently own. We don't have cable nor do we do streaming. No commercials, no monthly bill and we can pause or back up to re-watch a particular scene if we want/need to. Old-fashioned and loving it!

We got the roku stuff and we love it. Watching all kinds of shows, music, and movies. We have basic cable now for $40 and our new internet fiber optic for $65. It's down from the landline, old internet and cable of $250 a month. It just kept going up. We do pay $8 a month for Starz. In time we are dropping basic also when the penalty goes off. Also we find if our cable goes off the fiber optic does not. It seems like every breeze or raindrop out here makes our cable go off.
