Been picking up a few small items as needed for future projects. Need to order from Amazon but the item I want is currently out of stock and expected in next week. The listed date has changed a few times so I am waiting until I know that they have it before I order. Picked up and paid for a GC to order said item as I don't like to keep my CC on file with them.

I planned last Thursday as if it were a regular Thursday, and not Pi day. I bought pizza for the office (as I always do on Pi day). Then C and I decided to go out to dinner (which we haven't done in a while). Right next to the restaurant we went to was a pet store, and since we were out of fish oil for the dogs, we stopped in and got that. And then on the way home from dinner, we stopped at Safeway to get pie. (Because Pi day.) We thought at first we would do all of our grocery shopping then, but realized that to get the good price on the corned beef we needed to download the coupon. So, we figured we would just do our regular Friday grocery shopping. Saturday morning, we had friends over for pancakes. We realized early Saturday morning we did not have enough pancake mix in the house, so I ran back to Safeway.

I know it's not officially spring until Wednesday, but spring has definitely hit, and it is so lovely. This should be a quiet week. The only big thing going on is a friend's birthday dinner on Saturday.

Decided to get a different brand of the item that I was planning to get on Amazon, First choice had none available and no idea if it would return to stock. Other spending has been minimal -- gas for the car and other necessary items. Will have some expenses coming up in the next few months so trying to be very careful until then. Also I need to get some work done on the house sometime this year. I plan to start that process late June at the earliest with getting estimates, etc.

Okay, I just went in to schedule my credit card payments for next month. We have/use lots of cards, most of them for very specific purposes ie - CostCo card is for groceries and gas, Alaska Air card is for Pop Tart visits, Amazon card is for Amazon purchases, etc. But we do have one "main" card, the one we put all expenses that aren't designated to go on the other cards. Just from feel, I would say that on average, that card payment is around $1600/month, and over the last 7 months (what the website shows me the history of), it's been at just over $2000, on average. For April, it's only $450. I don't expect it to stay quite so low, but this is a sign that we're settling in at the new house, have most everything we need, and we're not feeling the need to eat out a lot or run around doing expensive things. This makes me happy, and also something I credit this board for, as I work on planning out expenses and thinking about things in advance.

I did a little more spending this week. Will need to hit the grocery next week for a few perishables and will need to get a few other needed items during the next few weeks. Trying to keep on top of things as I have a few upcoming retreats that will involve me spending for supplies but I have been putting money aside for them and will only need to add some to that amount.

It was a pretty good week last week. Weather here has turned pretty solidly toward spring, so on Friday we started looking at planters and plants (I like to container garden), and fire pits. And now I can't remember if we moved the grill or not. I expect we'll be getting a fire pit maybe this week or next, and probably planters and plants this coming weekend, too.
And end of the month wise, I am doing pretty good sticking in plan, and actually ended with only 6 spend days for the month. Pretty proud of that.

This is actually going to be a pretty busy week. I expect we'll order a fire pit some time this week, and I was hoping to start my planting this weekend, but I'm not certain if I'll be able to manage it. We'd need to do the buying of everything on Friday. I might have a couple hours early afternoon on Saturday, but we have both morning and evening plans then, and Sunday I have morning plans. And the next weekend, I'm away for Pop Tart's track meet. So we'll have to see.
On an overall planning note, I've been giving myself 2 spend days a week. I don't need that many spend days on the whole (and haven't used them). Starting this month, I am going to try and evaluate each week's spending plan and see if it feels like a week where there might be multiple spend days, and if not, just give myself one spend day for that week. Since house stuff is still counted in controlled spend, this week, where I might spend multiple times on planned house stuff (but don't really anticipate spending on other stuff not in plan).

Things are staying on plan this week, though we are having some surface leakage from the septic tank, so we've got the service scheduled to come out and look at that next Monday for $400. We did not move the grill, so along with the fire pit, we should be looking for one of those soon, but that hasn't happened yet, and I don't know that we'll have time this weekend, except maybe tomorrow afternoon.

Bought nothing for the yard/house. I did find out when Pop Tart's school play is and made travel plans for that.

Okay, going to be an expensive week. But, that it what it is. We noticed a couple weekends ago that it looked like something was leaking from our septic tanks, so we've got someone out to look at them today. Once we know what the problem & cost for the septic are, I will likely be booking myself to go to a writing conference in July hosted by one of my favorite authors. I am super excited about that. Friday the maid will be by, and I head out of town for Pop Tart's track meet. So for me, Saturday will be an all eating out day. Sunday we'll need to do our grocery shopping, and then a friend is coming over that afternoon to watch a movie.

I am hanging in there. Things are moving along as expected. I will be getting a little back on taxes and will earmark the majority of it toward the upcoming home improvement projects I know that need to be done later this year. Had a bit of success with the last craft shows so that money will be going to the class materials I will need at the summer retreat. It is nice that my craft is beginning to help pay for itself. I still will have to add some but that number is getting smaller as the time gets nearer, Some of the local craft stores are also beginning to carry some of the specialized beads that I prefer to work with so when I can use a coupon or get them on sale I have been stocking up on the basics.
Continuing to add a little extra toward the car payment each month. First time in years that I have a monthly payment on something and I want to get finished with it as soon as possible. It just started but I figure a little extra at a time will allow me to shave at least a few months off the loan.
Shan -- enjoy your time with PopTart.

Tuesday night I was just exhausted, and it translated to a really out of it morning yesterday. On Tuesday we went to the grocery store for me to grab some treats to bring in for April birthdays. We also used a lot of our Safeway Monopoly coupons, including to get a small thing of Ferrero Roche. Wednesday morning, I opened one of the little Ferrero candies, then decided I should do something else before eating it, set it aside, and forgot about it. I also then forgot the treats I bought in the fridge, and was 30 minutes away from home before I remembered. So I had to stop at the store and get some more. We've also had a major change for this weekend. Due to mudslides in the area, Pop Tart's track meet has been cancelled, but she'll be at a different track meet on Friday afternoon only 15 minutes away from the airport, so I may catch the end of that. We are then going to hang out on Friday evening instead of Saturday. Of course, it would cost $300 to change my Saturday flight, so I will still be waiting until 7:30p to fly home. I think I'm going to take myself to a movie, and otherwise sit in a coffee shop and get some writing done. We'll see. And today, the spring fund drive for the public radio station run out of a high school started. I donate here every year, and so I'm likely to go ahead and donate today.

Not a single No Spend Day this last week. It was a good weekend. I had forgotten that by being an Alaska Miles Member, I can make same day changes to my flights for only $50, so instead of staying on the other side of the state all day (and spending money for lunch, dinner, movie, snacks, etc), I changed my flight and got home 8 hours earlier than originally planned. Which was nice. Pop Tart visit itself was inexpensive, but I'd agreed to sponsor both Pop Tart and one of her sisters for a "run-a-thon" raising money for new track uniforms, so wrote the check for that on Friday night. Other Mom paid for my dinner. (We ate ate Arbys.) The rental car I got on Friday was the oldest car I'd ever gotten. It didn't have a USB port for charging my cell phone (which was nearly dead by dinner time). So I swung by WalMart and picked up a car cigarette lighter charger for the phone. That will now just live in my travel bag along with the hands free mount for the phone so that I have it for the future. I am counting Sunday's Safeway as a spend, as we really did grocery shopping on Tuesday night, and I only went to Safeway yesterday for two things - one of which could have waited and the other was a pure want.

My plan is to break down the boxes in the garage tomorrow. Then it will be time to call the Handyman company who I am hiring to get the stuff in the basement in to the garage so I can go through it.
This is a planned and needed expenditure. The stuff must get out of the basement. It's too heavy and I can't bring it up myself. That is my big priority for this week money wise.
I am saving some $ each month, although part of it gets used every quarter to pay for my Medicare.
I have money set aside to pay for a trip to Milwaukee to see David Crosby and a trip to Iowa City to see Todd Rundgren. That money will not be spent for anything except that.
I am able to keep up with all bills.
My biggest problem is impulse spending and it has to stop.

Just a quick pop in visit to say hello.
First craft retreat is over. I have three projects to finish from it and if I a careful with the supplies I might be able to get some additional projects completed from what I have. Came is a little less than last year on supplies. Other related expenses were about the same.
I needed to get some perishables in the house so grocery run was yesterday and I filed up the tank today. Both were needed. Bad weather is predicted for this afternoon so hope to get a few things done inside. Hoping that the next few days are spending free. I know that I need some tools for upcoming projects but I have enough things to keep me busy for the moment and plan to get those items when I have a good coupon closer to the need. Will be getting a few items as I go.

It is already a day. But the week is going okay. We did our Safeway shopping last night as we're having friends over for a Good Friday dinner tonight. But, I forgot to take my thyroid med last night, so had to take it this morning, which meant I couldn't eat breakfast at home, so I did get Starbucks once I got to work.

Was a quiet weekend. Saturday was rainy and we both didn't feel great, so it was a low key day of doing nothing much. Sunday was very nice out. I got the whole yard mowed. And while we talked about running out to pick up some yard stuff, we didn't.

Another busy week at work, so hopefully not a lot of time to spend. We have plans to go to dinner with friends on Thursday night, and I am babysitting on Saturday night.

Spend last night. I've got a cough that won't go away, and a sore throat that's not responding to pain meds, so went to Urgent Care last night. We did an x-ray just in case, but in the end, diagnosis is post-viral cough aggravated by acid reflux. Here, have some hydrocodone for the pain and start taking zantac. Of course, the hydrocodone is also not touching the pain (swallowing simply hurts), but I am getting dizzy spells. Yay fun. I've also changed the plan for Wednesday. It is Administrative Professionals Day, so I'll bring something in for the staff. I've had that planned in my head for a while, but was only looking at online calendars when I put the plan for this week together yesterday, and so missed that, as it's only on the desk calendar.

Second craft retreat is fast approaching. All major expenses for it has been paid. Known upcoming expenses for it has been put aside. Some cash on hand for some expenses but expect that a few will go on the CC under I return. Hope to limit those as much as possible.
Paid an extra $20 dollars on the car loan as I think that after next month's payment that it will shorten the due date for the final payment by a month. Currently scheduling an extra $100 per month on this as I want it gone asap. Know that I have at more than two years to go on it and I hate having that over my head. Figure that by continuing to pay the extra consistently I can eventually get the time shortened and pay less interest over the length of the loan.
Had to pay a penalty fee as I went over on my data plan this month. Sent it off and it will be a reminder to make sure that mobile data is turned off until I need it. I have an old plan and usually use wi-fi for most of my activity. This one time penalty is still cheaper on a yearly basis than upping the plan.
Only spending this week has been on needed supplies for the craft items I am trying to complete. I think that I have at least one more stop at the craft store this week but it will not be today. Will try to do it when I am already out and not make a special trip.

No spending 2 of the last 3 days.
I am 99% certain I am changing insurance companies for my house, auto and umbrella. I'm closing my bank account at the credit union. Sent the last auto pay change form in today so everything will be coming out of the correct account.
I will be meeting with the insurance agent at the bank to sign everything so need to get some shredding ready for when I go to the branch.

Quick update now because I seriously won't remember by Monday. Yesterday I did not get Starbucks (I instead went this morning), and the friends we had dinner with last night decided to treat.
