I think it's apparent that the govt(all levels, practically everywhere in the country). doesn't have the money to pay for what it owes.
The reason? Over spending.(spending more than you take in)
1. Do you support tax and overspending? (dems)
2. Do you support borrowing and overspending? (repubs)
3. Do you support not overspending? (common sense/integrity/civic duty).
since we're already over spent, if you pick #3 we must stop over spending and start cutting.
what should be cut?
imho, everything. let the pain begin. the longer we wait, the worse it will be.

Won't happen, to many locust in this country and not enough fields/farmers.

That's not apparent to the Dems and the liberals. Look at their take on the situation - Obama's doing a great job, the economy is recovering, we need more illegal aliens, not fewer, universal healthcare is on the way to save us and three wars are doing nothing to drag us down. Hell, they want to start another one in Syria! Think of some of the embarrassingly ridiculous Dem propaganda that gets posted here. They are living in a deep, deep state of denial, which I'm not sure even another drubbing in 2012 will cure...but it will be fun to watch nevertheless.

WP: what should be cut?
SD: How about all federal alphabet soup departments (give the money back to the states to do it) including our version of the KGB-the DHS.

Let's start with comgressional salaries and benefits. Let's face it, they have not earned their pay, with the deficits they have run. Next, end all wars not on our own soil.

everything 10% a year for ten years? Hell, they can't get beyond even a $10 B cut for the current year. And that is peanuts. This is just the beginning. Next comes the budget for the year beginning on July 1. Today's posturing on the CR is just the preliminary to the real battle. And it's all about electing the next President. Almost nobody in DC actually cares about the fiscal mess we're in; they only care about the 2012 election. The few that do care about the fiscal mess are going to be marginalized by every single one of the DC insiders - count on it.

Obama promised he would do that during his campaign in 2008. Instead he amped one of them up and started a new one to boot! Way to earn that Nobel Peace Prize, Barack...

Ed, I remember that too. No need to document it. No question about it, Barry is a failure.

So for example, a bridge needs to be repaired. We can spend $2 million now, or we can spend $0 now, wait until it collapses and spend millions more. Ever hear of the phrase penny wise and pound foolish? (A pound in this case is a British unit of currency, not weight, BTW) "Republican cuts would cost 700,000 jobs: Report" news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/republican-cuts-would-cost-700000-jobs-report"GOP's Cuts Would Cost 200,000 Jobs, Bernanke Says" www.nationaljournal.com/economy/gop-s-cuts-would-cost-200-000-jobs-bernanke-says-20110302*psst* when people become unemployed, they collect unemployment, so your "savings" aren't that much. Do we want unemployment to go up to double digits? or how about: "GOP looks to cut IRS budget despite returns" www.foxnews.com/us/2011/03/01/gop-looks-cut-irs-budget-despite-returns/#ixzz1IaKP0dr0Wow, cutting something that actually makes money, brilliant! Cutting everything sure is genius! Youz independentz shur R smartz! so you forgot; 4) Do you support cutting spending willy-nilly because you're an independent living in the fantasy land of Cutspendinghasnoeffectonanythingia? I guess so, do you think the asphault fairy is going to pave your road? Unga, money good! Tax bad! Maybe you should "independently" get off your high horse, put on your big boy pants, and stop fantasizing about living in some developed country where there isn't taxes. Most of what this situation is to Conservatives and IINOs (Independents in name only) is because they want taxes to be zero so they can buy a bigger TV or something. It sounds easy just to slash everything. But if something was that easy, they would have done it by now. "Illegal immigration down dramatically" www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/sep/1/illegal-immigration-down-dramatically/Now Ed, I have a special exercise just for you! Read what I have to say and concentrate really hard! First, put down the Fox-Aid (why anyone drinks that bitter yellow stuff is beyond me) Now, if the economy is supposedly really bad job-wise, why would illegal aliens come here to look for a one? Is it worth it sneaking over the border just to go to some strange place to become jobless and probably homeless? Just an ounce of prevention before you go spouting off more things that don't make any logical or even common sense, let alone anything that isn't based on reality. And that's one to grow on!

Shared sacrifice - it could work! I am for across-the-board spending cuts-- nothing is exempt, not even "national defense"-- we spend plenty too much on that, too. I feel a 20% to 30% (we borrow 42% of every dollar spent) across the board cut, followed by a spending freeze at that level until the budget is balanced. After that, I propose that it require a VETO-proof (2/3rds) majority to authorize borrowing. I am NOT for a "balanced budget amendment" because I don't want these m fers messing with the Constitution, and I don't want the 9 black robed m fers ordering a tax increase. Just make it hard to borrow so there actually has to be some broad based public consensus to borrow money.

I'd like to see where he promised to end Afganistan... Thanks. He specifically said he would focus MORE on that war... which is where we should have focused in the beginning. Personally, i think we should be out of there now... but he never said he would end Afganistan. Look it up ladies... Combat troups left Iraq... which is what he said he would do... there are still other troups there... wish we could bring them home, but hey, we still keep them just about everywhere else in the world too

LOL! You believe that? Here's what those "other" troops are doing...and this link is from Commiedreams.org, not exactly a right wing source... BAGHDAD - Since President Barack Obama declared an end to combat operations in Iraq, U.S. troops have waged a gun battle with a suicide squad in Baghdad, dropped bombs on armed militants in Baquba and assisted Iraqi soldiers in a raid in Falluja. Obama's announcement on August 31 has not meant the end of fighting for some of the 50,000 U.S. military personnel remaining in Iraq 7-1/2 years after the invasion that removed Saddam Hussein. "Our rules of engagement have not changed. Iraq does remain from time to time a dangerous place, so when our soldiers are attacked they will return fire," said Brigadier General Jeffrey Buchanan, a U.S. military spokesman www.commondreams.org/headline/2010/09/24-1

"when our soldiers are attacked they will return fire" Yes, that's the ROE for our combat troops. And you obviously missed this part: dropped bombs on armed militants in Baquba and assisted Iraqi soldiers in a raid in Falluja. That's not merely "returning fire". That's a combat operation...

...agreed... Barry is a failure... problem is... lotsa people like failure nowadays... success takes too much effort, you know? ...cut all entitlement programs by 50% this year, 50% each year thereafter... fully eliminated by 2016... yes, I'm serious...
