Canada discontinued their version of the assistance to the refugees in 2016. From the article:
The program has since been repeatedly renewed. But in 2017, Department of Homeland Security officials said conditions in Haiti were improving since the earthquake and that the program should be terminated. A wave of Haitians moved across the northern border. Many have expressed concern they'll be deported if they stay in the United States.
Canada ended its version of a program that was similar to the TPS for Haitians in 2016, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. This means Haitians without status can be deported from Canada.

I was sincerely hoping the article was about democrats fleeing the country in 2017 due to the Trump policies, but alas, it has not happened.

That was one poorly written article that does not support the headline.

That was one poorly written article that does not support the headline. How does this paragraph from the article: "Exactly 2,550 Americans applied for asylum in Canada in 2017, according to data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. That's more than a sixfold increase from the 395 Americans who applied in 2016." Not support the article title: "2,550 US citizens applied for asylum in Canada in 2017. That's more than 6 times as many as in previous year" Hatians living in the U.S. and seeking asylum with the ending of TPS program is a separate issue in the article. The only error in the artiicle I could see was in this sentence: "About 80% to 85% of the US asylum-seekers are of Haitian descent, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police." That sentence should read: About 80% to 85% of the Canadian asylum-seekers are of Haitian descent, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Maybe it's too early for me to find any other "fake news".

The word "citizens" appears in one and not the other. The article has no discussion of American citizens. Were there 2,550 American citizens who applied for asylum? Possibly. But who and why? I am left wondering. Thus no support for the headline. I am not saying it is false. I am saying it is poorly written.

I think it is confusing, possibly because they made an error like you suggest. I wouldn't use it as a source, but it would prompt me to investigate more if i was interested. This Guardian article explains it better: “Most of the Americans applying for refugee status are the children of non-residents,” says Stéphane Handfield, a Montreal-based immigration lawyer. “They are US citizens because they were born there, but they come across the border with their parents because they don’t want to be separated.” Trump has repeatedly said he wants to find a way to end birthright citizenship, although legal scholars say this is impossible." www.theguardian.com/world/2018/nov/14/us-citizens-seeking-asylum-canada-increases-immigration-refugees

So... the CNN article is not fake... it is just not well written and leaves out key details that make the situation easier to understand.

So... the CNN article is not fake... it is just not well written and leaves out key details that make the situation easier to understand. And yet you are okay with a poorly written article with an even more very misleading headline. Bad headline plus poorly written article equals fake news. Last week CNN had a headline naming a certain politician beloved by the democrats, and an hour later the headline was totally changed with a new headline slanting away from the ploitician mentioned in the earlier headline. And no, I am not going to go back and find it. I do understand it. We no longer have "illegal immigrants" with any liberal news source, we only have "migrants", "immigants" who are never labeled illegal immigrants, "asylum seekers" who are looking for a job, or "refugees" who are not really refugees.

And you wonder why Trump calls CNN fake news To address this directly. I don't wonder at all. I understand he does it because it plays well with a segment of the voting population.

It wasn't a misleading headline. More US Citizens are asking for asylum in Canada than ever before. It is totally correct.
Now if you think they should have given you the detail that many of them are children who are Citizens, with parents who are not Citizens, i agree, that's why it was poorly written. However, it was not fake, nor was the title wrong.
I can give you misleading headlines, but i try not to go to Fox if i can help it...

But his own judges (you know the ones that dt touts among his accomplishments) are not so sure about this whole thing. Why else would Kelly reinstate Acosta's press credentials...

That’s fine. Of course he doesn’t need to invite CNN in.

The minor children are being taken there by their parents. Looks like a forced situation where the minor children have to go with their parents for the ones that are citizens. Read the bolded from your article: “The majority of U.S. citizens claiming asylum are minor asylum claimants who were born in the United States whose parents are citizens of another country,” said Mathieu Genest, press secretary for Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen. “In these instances, the claims of persecution are made against the parents’ country of origin, not the United States. However, given their citizenship, the minor children appear as U.S. citizens in these tables. These children predominately accompanied Haitian or Nigerian national adults.”

At least this article explains the fact the "citizens" are minors being moved to Canada by the illegal immigrants that are worried they will be deported for over staying their visas. Bottom line there is no exodus of American citizens other than parents dragging the kids with them. The title you quoted is also slightly misleading. If it was written correctly instead of politically, it would read something like this: "Immigrants from the U.S.A. who have overstayed their visas are bringing their American born children over the border claiming asylum."
question? Does Canada recognize dual citizenship? I assume they do.

I just saw the most ridiculous thing on CNN. It just boggles the mind.
Cuomo was interviewing Corey Lewandowski, who said that journalists should show more decorum. Cuomo asked him when Trump was going to show more decorum, that he calls the press the enemy of the people, calls them liars and stupid. Lewondowski replied "He doesn't do that! It's fake news".
WTF? We've all seen him do that. We've heard him at rallies. We've read his tweets. Are these people living in an alternate reality? A parallel universe? Are they deaf, dumb and blind? Insane? It's astonishing, it really is.
