Got a 1% last year after a three year freeze. Previously they were about 5%. I was told it wasn't my performance, but in order to not increase benefit costs to the employees, raises were less. This year though, they made a retroactive 25% contribution to 401K plans for contributions last year, and continuing this year. I doubt we will see raises this year. I did get a two week net salary bonus at Christmas. DH salary was frozen and cut due to a departmental change also for the last three years (Municipal Employee). This year they are giving a 1% but increasing benefit costs. But, we're doing okay.

I've increased my base salary 12% since Oct 2009, but that's because I've switched jobs twice. (Also moved to a more expensive area of the country, so housing more than off-sets that.)
I did receive a ~1.2% raise from my current company on 3/1/11.

In this economy, I'm content with my 3% annual raise. I did get about 10% with a promotion 3 years ago. DH is state government with all its current issues. Pay freeze being extended, 5% loss to furlough days and now they want to take away another 6% in the pension contribution. I want him to look for another job, but he just wants to get in the 5 years to retirement and full pension. It's not even the take home that is the real issue, but that his pension will be based on his last years of salary.

I got 2.25% this year and 2.5% last year. That was the average for my company. They've given raises every year even during the worst of the downturn, but they made us take 5 days off without pay that year to save money. When I first started, I was hired way under the pay scale (but still more than my last job), so they gave me 6-10% raises every 6 months until I reached the midpoint salary for my level. I'm glad I'm making average salary now, but I miss those raises.

I got about a 7% raise in 2010, and an 8.5% raise in 2011. I think 2009 was also about 7%, thought my bonus in 2009 was a little lower than than normal. I'm an engineer, and while our company profits have been down, they're not doing that poorly.

city gov't, no raise, no bonus for 2010 no raise, no bonus for 2011 no contract for 2012, so no raise, no bonus until that's settled, which may very well end up being after all the dust settles in the court cases.

Pay raise? Bonus $$? What's that? I am a state govt. employee currently in a 4th year with NO pay increase for practically everyone--just less & less take-home every year as things like insurance keep going up. I am, however, very thankful to still have a job!!

I've gotten at least 3% every year I've been in the private sector.

Self: 2011 2.5% and bonus 2010 frozen; no bonus; 16% increase in employee medical contribution, one time payment of 1/2 merit increase at mid year 2009 frozen; no bonus; 59% increase in employee medical contribution, one time payment of 1/2 of bonus at mid year

Since we are both employed in the private sector, there is no cost of living adjustment. You earn your raise and your bonus every year. Unless it's a bad year for the company or the economy, then you earn your raise and bonus and get whatever your employer chooses to give you. Net/net, after medical contributions we're working for less take home pay than in 2007.

I work in healthcare...nothing for the 3rd year, because there is no money to give. I am happy to still have a job, frankly.

The last time anyone at my company got a raise was November 2006. At the end of 2009, 30% of our employees were put on a 3-month furlough...thankfully, I wasn't one of the guys that were told "don't come back on Monday". Looking forward, I don't see anything that suggests there are raises on the horizon.
I'm definitely glad to have been employed for as long as I have. I'm also glad that "living comfortably" and "living within my means" have been compatible goals up to this point.
The search continues...

i've never worked for any company that gave out yearly raises. or gave raises at all. you had to ask for a raise and back it up as to why. ditto bonuses. never worked at a company that gave them. did get a turkey at Christmas from most though. i've been working since 1976. not steady since 2000. i was a COBOL programmer, now a breakfix MAC laptop/desktop hardware/software tech. starting a contract soon at a fortune 100 company(waiting for the results of my criminal back ground check, credit check and drug test( I passed them all, of course)(could be a month could be 3 years, ya never know)). low pay, no sick days, holidays, vacation, benefits no security or stability. can't make big life decisions. fortunately i planned/sacrificed wants my life, to not be in debt. i made my increases by changing jobs. in 1987i was making 16k and told the new job I was making 18.5 they offered 23k. I got another increase when the company moved. my boss wouldn't move, so they "bribed me " to stay by raising my salary. i guess you could consider that a raise. by 1998 I asked for a raise and was given the standard line. we have to wait until year end(june 30th) to see if we can do it. then when year end came, you'd have to remind them. the company went out of business that july(1999). that was the end of my "career job" i've only been offered contract work and unemployment checks since. I'll be 51 in May. anyone see the piece on CBS Sunday Morning regarding unemployed people over 50? apparently there are a lot and they are screwed. i see why so many non union private sector taxpayers are up in arms over public sector union workers

0% for me and 0% for DH. Inflation is increasing but our checks will stay the same. Just happy we are getting paid. Little nervous about DH though (fed employee). We'll live without his paycheck. Don't really want to. Hope they reach an agreement before Friday.
