mommy2two Absolutely, feel free to come here and talk and vent all you need to. What you have been through is absolutely traumatic, even if you and your family are all safe. The footage on tv is absolutely horrific, and I know, having gone through severe flooding a few years back, that the pictures just don't do it justice. The magnitude of the loss is just unreal...You and everyone affected will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs!

I am so sorry for anyone who has gone through the tornadoes in the south. I know it's traumatic, to say the least. My prayers, each morning, have been with you all. Please let me know if I can do anything to help.
In case anyone is interested Lays is offering a free bag of chips today. They don't say what size though.

The CVS e-gift card bonus is back! Love these! When you buy a $25 e-gift card, you get a $5 bonus. You can buy a $50 gift card and get $10, a $75 card and get $15, etc. The e-gift card is emailed to you, you print it out and use it in the store just like you would any other gift card. I can't seem to find an expiration date on this deal, but it says limited time only so hurry if you want to get in on this deal. Here's the site: cvs.coinstar.com/gift-card/buy/I can't seem to get this link to work and am not finding this deal when I use google. HELP!

herekittykitty: Perhaps the limit was supposed to be (1) for the deal and somehow a glitch allowed (5).
Yes, Dancinmama, that was probably the case here.
I got lucky. Thanks to pubbler for posting the deal so quickly, and I credit myself and good luck that I went out to get the deal within an hour of her posting it.
I was going out anyway, and CVS was on my way to an early lunch date with a good friend of mine.
My DH loved the "stash" of chips, as they are a perfect size to take to work. I liked having about 30 for Cinco de Mayo party for my class on Thursday.

nickyleey - thank you for this! I plan to pack A LOT of stuff with us since we are driving. We are actually borrowing my parents mini-van (we have a smaller suv) so that we can take DH's golf clubs, beach gear and FOOD! LOL. I have been carefully stockpiling items just for this trip. It would kill me to pay full-price for something at the store that I know I have in my pantry. Fresh meat, veggies, fruits and milk will be the main items we will have to purchase, but I thought I would check out the sales before we go.

Well, we survived the wedding but it is going to be a very long day with about 2 hours of sleep. We had a great time. You know we had to have our own bachelorette party last night!!!! I previously told you our one boss paid for our hotel room and when we got to the room there was a bottle of champagne and a box of lovely truffles from two of the associates thanking us for doing our jobs for Administrative Professional's Day. That was very nice of them. Went to happy hour, had some dinner, went back to the room and drank some more wine and stayed up too late but we had a good time and we will suffer through the day. TGIF!!!!
I admit I teared up thinking of what it would have been like if Diana had lived. She and her boys were so close!
Now we have to think of another event to look forward to!!!

mommy2twoal: You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. This reminds me of the devastation that we faced down in our area from Katrina. I hope you and your family can overcome this very quickly. Also, please come to vent (or just when you need to talk) anytime. HUGS for you!!

mommy2twoal All of you down south are in my thoughts and prayers.
I did enjoy watching the royal wedding this morning here on the east coast. It was lovely and sentimental and beautiful...a wonderful diversion.
I was very encouraged to see that the NY Times website gave top billing to the tornadoes and presented the wedding news well below it.
ETA: Thanks to whomever gave a heads up regarding the organic food coupons. I printed out the Driscoll's and used them on strawberries last evening at Wegmans. A pint was on sale for $2, they doubled the $0.50 Q and I got it for $1. Good deal to me.

When DH and I take a trip by car, we pack everything we think we will need. We have even been known to pack a cooler with some of the fresh items that you said you will need to buy. I don't know if that would be possible for you, but it's a consideration. I hope you and your family have a MOST EXCELLENT time.

Thanks you are for the prayers, hugs and well wishes. My Brother's friend and wife are both missing along with hundreds more throughout the state. Now up to 300 dead in Alabama alone.
We are going to my brothers tomorrow to work on cleanup. I have had family members without power at my house for the last couple of days. Most people I know have people staying with them as so many in state without power.
I was able to watch some of the wedding tonight just to have something other than destruction on my mind.
I have heard of some of the best stories of people helping people, but also of some people looting. I will try to get as much stuff with coupons as I can in next few weeks in order to donate. Thanks again ladies, you cannot imagine how great it is to have your support.

NAG: Sheri at swaggrabber.com is organizing a supply drive. Check out her post if you are interested:) www.swaggrabber.com/swag/campaign-to-raise-supplies-money-for-tornado-victimsI just came from helping to organize the supply drive in our school district area and was really surprised at the things we did and didn't receive. We had a TON of bar soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant. We received some USED body wash, shampoo and lotion. Yikes!! We received very few of some items, too. Some of those are baby food jars. We had several meats for Stage 1..no veggies or fruits for Stage 1 eaters. As far as Stage 2 foods, we only had 5 or 6 veggies and maybe 10 jars of fruits. We didn't get too much formula. We had the 10 bottles of liquid I got last night, and then just 5 containers of powder. Nor did we got many newborn or size 1 diapers. Those are just a few of my observations. The amount of clothes was INCREDIBLE!!! Not just clothes, but for the most part, everything in general. Don't forget the plastic storage totes or suitcases! Samaritan's Purse (same organization that coordinates Operation Christmas Child) has 2 teams on the way to AL already. If anyone feels inclined, there is also a link where you can make a donation. Just thought I'd pass along another option, to go along with the Red Cross. www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/articles/responding_to_deadly_tornadoes/

Sorry for the long post, but what you see on TV is nothing compared to the reality of the situation. I have co-workers and friends who are unable to find their friends and relatives in some of these areas stilll. As I write this (mini book) there are 210 confirmed dead in Alabama alone and over 350 in the south combined and numbers are climbing fast. I don't know of anyone I have spoken to or come in contact that has not been touched by this tragedy in some way. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We need all of them we can get. Thanks for letting me vent. I really needed it. I know see how people can suffer from PTSD from these types of situations.
Mommy2twoal, I am so sorry for what has happened in your state. You and yours are in our thoughts and prayers.
