I thank God for the Tea Party. Remember how they were ridiculed by posters here in their prime years? Guess what? They are still here. Why did we wind up with President trump? Two words. Tea Party. The Tea Party knew they would never get the change they wanted in Government with any potential "Republican National candidate" from within the Republican Party.
In 2012 Romney was running for the Presidency, but even Romney was closer to being a Democrat than a Republican in their minds, so he was a "no" for them. Four more years of President Obama and the party faithful, the actual voters, started realizing they needed someone different in the Electoral pool. In 2015 the field was crowded with potential Republican candidates who would gladly accept the nomination, but again, how many were true Republicans? How many would claim to work with Democrats when in reality it meant they would cave to democratic desires when pushed into a corner. as happened with the last two Republican Presidential terms? None of this group would be a winner or a fighter. Ted Cruz might have fit the bill, but Republican voters also realized Republican politicians hated him and would not cooperate with him. Then, amazingly one man stepped forward. A man with a checkered past. A man who was welling to fight. A man who said we can and well do better. A man who said he would step up against any country not treating the US fairly in whatever area it was happening. Trade, Defense pacts, countries not paying their own fair share. A man who said we can make America work again. A man who said we can bring jobs back to America. A man who said we can put the unemployed back to work A man who said he would cut our Federal tax rates. A man who would fight ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. A man who would build the Wall. Was this man even a member of the Tea Party? No, He was from the elitist class. A former Democrat. Then something happened. The democrats made fun of him. Hollywood derided him. Other Republicans attacked him. After the nomination the mass media world went all in to defeat him.
The Tea Party America knew they had their candidate. Not only Tea party members, but, Disgruntled Republicans The blue dog democrats that were still there. The Independents. Many of these voters knew they had to stay under thre radar. They could not come forward and say, "Trump in 2016" because they knew they would be attacked by the left and even their neighbors.

If the Tea Party had not stood up to the tyranny of the Obama Administration, we would have either had Hillary or probably Jeb in 2016. It was a slow quiet progress, but the Tea Party has prevailed.

Out of the nine things I listed in the opening post, only the bottom two have not happened yet. This was an amazing accomplishment to do in 21 months. I also accidently left off an important one, He promised to deliver on his SC nomination prospects when he has the chance. He has accomplished this also. Two for two. We have elected a President who delivered on his promises. Any voter who votes for a President wants this to occur when they vote for that person. I understand democrats and liberals will disagree, but even President Obama did not do anything this close in magnitude in his first two years in office. P.S. Instead of seven out of nine, he was eight out of ten, and the SC was a twofer

I'd be curious to speak with a member of the Tea Party, to find out what they think of the big increase in the Federal Deficit due to the actions of the Trump Administration? I used to work with a huge fan of the Tea Party, and that was one of his hot-button issues. I wish I could track him down, & find out what he thinks of what is happening now. Obviously, reducing the deficit is NOT one of their current priorities.

I would like to go back to the peaceful Tea Party protests, gathering with signs and leaving the area free of trash. you know when the 'rally cry' was to write or call your representative in Congress or the Senate, make your voice heard.
What we see now from the opposition is our Democrat politicians encouraging, shouting and demanding, bussing in the 'obedient' mobs with instructions to get up in their face, intimidate, harass and stalk the Congress and Senate representatives. Wherever you see them, at the mall, gasoline station or restaurant... gather a mob and jump, scream and shout and intimidate and harass them. It seems to be ok now to vandalize and destroy property.

I'm a staunch conservative so what I'm about to say has nothing to do with political views. I look back to when the Tea Party first came on the scene and I remember being embarrassed by the protests. The idiotic costumes belittled their message (plus I find protesting a complete waste of time). I'm an equal opportunity judger because I thought they looked just as ridiculous as the pink hats.

Then, amazingly one man stepped forward. A man with a checkered past. A man who was welling to fight. A man who said we can and well do better. A man who said he would step up against any country not treating the US fairly in whatever area it was happening. Trade, Defense pacts, countries not paying their own fair share. They could not come forward and say, "Trump in 2016" because they knew they would be attacked by the left and even their neighbors. Yeah, it is hard to believe just ten years ago:
Donald Trump hosted two fundraisers for uber-establishment candidate Charlie Crist in 2009, as Crist tried unsuccessfully to fend off a challenge from conservative upstart Marco Rubio. Trump was all establishment, all the time, as he also donated to Harry Reid to help him defeat Tea Party insurgent Sharron Angle in 2010. One more thing: Trump contributed $50,000 to help make Rahm Emanuel, the ultimate corrupt Democratic Party politico, the mayor of Chicago. That’s turned out well!
Donald Trump never met a well-heeled establishment politician he didn’t like, until around six months ago. Now, having done a 180, he is trying to portray himself as an anti-establishment upstart. Surely someone from the ranks of the Tea Party will call Trump on his brazen cynicism. Right?

I liked it as a grass roots movement, but when it got some publicity it got taken over by those with social agendas - anti-abortion, anti-Muslim, anti-gay rights. I preferred it when they stuck to their fiscal agenda.

Agreed. It made sense when it was about shrinking govt and lowering taxes. It lost me when it became GOP lite - cut taxes for social things like food stamps and social support, but don't touch military spending etc.

My guess is that his answer will be "it would have been worse under Hillary".

I've wanted to ask my MIL and SIL, both heavy duty Trumpettes, what they think about the big jump in the Federal Deficit (at a time where, historically, the country would be spending down it's deficit) too.
My MIL has bought into the 'Trump was a successful businessman so he'll know best how to run the country' storyline that Trump's been pushing hard. Since she only watches Fox I'm sure she hasn't seen the NYT story about Trump not being the self made businessman he claims to be, and if I tell her, she won't believe it. FAKE NEWS.

Here’s what stood out to me the most about the Tea Bag wearers: They suddenly appeared when a black man began his term in the Oval Office. They were screaming about being “taxed enough already”
They talked about the deficit.
As soon as a white man became prez, they quited down. Under him, the deficit has soared. . What do you hear from them now? Crickets
My conclusion: They are a bunch of racist hypocrites. as are most of trump’s supporters. As for the few who aren’t? Clearly his open racism is not a deal breaker for them.
He has lost the support of decent, moral people

Interesting that those who live and die over the rights given us by our Constitution...when it comes to a group who are acting on the first amendment, those same folks who live and die over the Constitution then call em a "MOB"...[sad] However, when their leader at rallies encourage his followers to get physical with any who disagree with his ideas in the audience and promises to cover fines and legal costs that might arise from their actions..then that is acceptable in their eyes..[we have that on tape, both visual and audio]
