Glad to hear you have a strategy, TheOtherMe. I just got back from getting my hair cut (I color myself). I parked right in front of a Chico's and the had a dress in the window that was the most incredible cobalt blue. After my cut I walked in, found they had one my size, and bought it. No sales were going on, I paid full retail. I love the dress. It has pockets, too, and is perfect for 100* weather. I do feel a bit guilty but not that bad about the full price.

A good dress, that fits well and that you like is worth paying full price. Or you can pay 50 % off, for something that's just okay, that sort of fits, that you don't love. I love cobalt blue! Enjoy!

Just finished a therapy session. Amelia walked across the keyboard and shut off my mic and turned off the volume. When we got that straightened out, we came up with a strategy for trying to get the painting from my sister. We shall see if it works. I hope you get the painting. 🙂

Please spill - I'm very curious what the therapist suggested as it's likely way healthier than anything I'd come up with in this predicament.

If it's not "punch her in the face then kick her as you walk out the door with the painting" I am going to be very disappointed.

I'm short so it's just right on me for knee length. I look hawt!

I'm hanging in there, but in a flat, low place right now. DH had some tests done this past week and will go over the results with his PCP next week. June-July-August always hard for me anyway. I restarted a couple of months ago a med that really helps address my depression, and it is doing good. Otherwise I'd be much worse off.
So I'm trying. I am disgusted that I haven't done the things I'd planned, including work on the house. Now summer, which makes moving hard in this part of the world. Far too hot and humid.
Just keep taking steps.

Being chased by a low-level migraine. Stress, I think. DH is physically stable right now. If I can muster the energy and focus we'll get to Maine plus plan on some day trips around here that are on DH's bucket list.

If you're lurking here in particular because you're struggling, I hope you can see how supportive we are if you need to vent about this particular topic. Finn - I've been watching Jen Hatmaker (christian speaker/author) in Maine these past few weeks on fb. It's def on my near future travel list. Keep us posted so we live vicariously

My brother has a cottage in Wells, on the southern Maine coast just north of Ogunquit. We go and make day trips from there to Portland, York, Kittery, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, Freeport to drop in on L.L. Bean. But mainly we stay in Wells and Ogunquit. Beautiful beaches plus Marginal Way, the Play House and the Rachel Carson trail.

Hi Finn....I've been lurking around these boards forever I just don't post a lot. I think I'm one of the only Maine people on here. I'm a little further north in the Midcoast area (Rockland). The state is a beautiful place to visit. The beaches are gorgeous, you are right.

Cold is one word for it When I was young…sure I would go in. Now not so much. But I could look at the ocean all day and it smells wonderful. Love Boston. I’m a Red Sox fan sometimes. And I love Canobie in New Hampshire

I really need to plan a getaway for us, a week up north, where I can see my brothers and sister and the Maine ocean and Marginal Way.
This is a hard and sad time. My own health issues are interfering with prospectively being a kidney donor for DH, and it's something he, my siblings and DS are opposed to anyway. The alternative is to start a social media messaging campaign and in the meantime hope he remains stable for at least a couple of years. I don't know how likely that is.
Add this to the draining heat of the summer here and my depression flares; it's hard. It's easy to get caught up in a drain-circling swirl of regrets and fear.

It's been a very long summer, hang in there!
