Favorite Drink: Sometimes I drink water... just to surprise my liver!

Both my mental health and physical health have improved since I got the cats last week. I think I was dwelling too much on the physical health because there was nothing else to think about. The cats have kept me busy with all of their needs for attention, food & water, litter box, etc. Hooray! So happy to hear this! 😊 While pets can be a challenge at times, they are also such a blessing. ♡♡♡

Pets are great, and can provide lots of benefits. I am doing better now that I am on break and have way less on my plate. Just focusing on me and the girls right now. This past weekend I went out of town with a friend and it was a good get away to reset.

Agreed, pets are wonderful. We got Franklin the Dog as a 10th anniversary present to ourselves and he has saved us each 100 times over. RIght now I'm bobbing in the water just slightly over my head, treading between the endogenous clinical depression that has been fairly well managed and now congruent depression due to DH's latest health status and news. I ruminate over timing of things and wonder when the transplant living donor people will call, and wonder how all will work out. I've read recently that people of DH's age do not typically gain a real life span advantage with dialysis but instead see a decrease in their quality of life. So for now, he's nixing dialysis until he gets a transplant. I watch him for symptoms. He had a couple of coughing fits today and it makes me tense: is that a sign of fluid retention? Is he fatigued? Is he really okay? And I walk Franklin twice a day, which does help, as does his attentiveness.

Your fur baby has such a sweet face, finnime! I agree that when life is rough, time with a fur baby is time well spent.

finnime Franklin the Dog makes me feel better just looking at his picture. Check out the dog eyes! He's a sweetheart for sure.

I hope your DH gets that call you're waiting for soon!

Amelia has taken over my lap. While it makes my blood pressure go way down, it makes it hard to get anything done.
I also try to give Maddow time with me every day because she is really good at pushing him out of her way.

Next animal I get is going to be a lap animal. I don't know if it will be another cat or maybe a dog. I'm leaning toward dog. I know I don't plan on moving anytime soon, JFC it's expensive out there! so I may get my very large dog that I want. Although if I do that, I'll need to get the central AC replaced as it's a hunk of crap. I need something/someone to keep me occupied. Otherwise I start thinking how many pills it will take me to go to sleep for good. Widowhood/having no life really sucks.

Definitely get yourself a dog, empress of self-improvement! If you're worried about handling a large dog, is there a small breed of dog that looks good to you? With Covid, bringing a "new to us" dog into the house definitely improved the mood at our house.

Hugs finnime and empress of self-improvement. Life has been so difficult this year but you both have had additional burdens to carry. I think of you often and pray your lives get easier. I agree with everyone else, empress. Get the dog. You won't regret it.

Now I have companionship and responsibilities again as well as unconditional love. Please stay around. We would miss you and I've walked in those shoes, too.

I'm sharing this because I found and needed this song. Although personally, I would phrase it "There is God", or something like that. For those who believe in a higher power, songs like this can be a good reminder to hang on and believe for a better tomorrow.

Thinking of you (all). Please remember that I care.♡
I too have been there. Yet I'm still here. I was on the phone with my boyfriend of 14 1/2 yrs when he took his life. I know it's hard and often not fun. I get it.
But I sincerely hope you'll stay. I would miss you terribly if you should go.
Hugs ♡❤♡

I really didn't mean to make it about me. That was not my point.
But thank you all.

So, it seems I've graduated from therapy. Yay me! I'm feeling really good these days. I don't have the horrible nightmares or flash backs nearly as frequently. My depression and anxiety have really eased off. I've not used my anxiety ball in a couple of months now. The EMDR truly seemed to release some deep issues and I find myself able to just shrug off the things that used to set me off. Of course, if I need to see her again, I will. She's not going anywhere.

Excellent! I've had 1 psychiatrist and 1 therapist, I wish were still around. Seems like knowing you can go back if needed, would be helpful. CONGRATS!

That's great news. Since my depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in my brain, I don't think I can home for anything more than controlling it. I am so happy for you.

Just finished a therapy session. Amelia walked across the keyboard and shut off my mic and turned off the volume. When we got that straightened out, we came up with a strategy for trying to get the painting from my sister. We shall see if it works.
