NK has long dreamed of being recognized as a legitimate nuclear power on the world stage.
If you think they're going to give up their nukes now, I have some genuine Saskatchewan sealskin to sell you.

query: does the "photoshop rule" not apply to Clinton?, because she would not be caught dead in a Motel 6 like setting watching some teeny piece of crap TV. in fact, neither would most people here. As I have stated many times before here the spirit of the Photoshop rule is to prevent false misleading or deceptive photos from being posted. Obvious parody, or satire in the form of a internet meme very clearly doesn't violate any rules. That doesn't mean the mods won't invent or rule just for me. I'm just stating the facts. DJ is right, Paul. The meme text is fine, but in the reasonable estimation of the staff (and I concur), the image of Ms. Clinton in a rocker doing a crossword and watching a picture perfect frame of Pres. Trump and Chairman Kim is an edit job. This one had to go, and I go'd it. Incidentally, while the rule excepts memes and text overlays, it doesn't except "obvious parody, or satire". For example, years ago we disallowed a (clearly satirical) image of Pres. Obama photoshopped to look like a witch doctor. Just recently we ruled that a member couldn't post the cover of this week's Time magazine which (again satirically) shows Pres. Trump photoshopped to look like a king in full regalia. In short: text overlays, cartoons, and illustrations are fine, but we mean to preserve the integrity of photographs of public figures, no exceptions. If it turns out some paparazzo got the photo of the century of Ms. Clinton exactly as depicted, my apologies.

Wrong. It's Trump looking into a mirror and seeing himself as king. They weren't portraying Trump as a king.

Good job, trump. DHS warns of North Korea cyber campaign, days after historic summitThe US Department of Homeland Security said that it has identified malicious cyber activity by the North Korean government, according to a new report released on Thursday, just days after the historic summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. DHS and FBI analysts working with US government partners highlighted the use of what are known as Trojan malware variants -- software used by the North Korean government that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems. "This malware variant is known as TYPEFRAME," according to the report by the DHS Computer Emergency Readiness Team, noting that "the US Government refers to malicious cyber activity by the North Korean government as HIDDEN COBRA." In spite of the fact that we don't have a deal. We are engaged and talks following a period of relative calm. Chairman Kim Jong Un has not conducted any nuclear test, or fired any ballistic missiles for the better part of a year now. DPRK has returned 3 hostages without conditions to the United States. North Korea has physically destroyed one of their nuclear test sites. Could well be their only site. We will obviously need verification, but this is a big public step which we have not seen before. He has personally articulated a commitment to denuclearization in the context of face-to-face meetings with both South Korean leaders and now the first face-to-face meeting have a North Korean leader with an American president. It's a big fucking deal.Sanctions remain in place. We are not air mailing cash. We have a president that knows we are holding all the cards. DPRK has a lot to lose from negotiations falling apart. Anyone that doesn't think this is a major achievement to get to this point has simply no desire to see it as it is. yes. flouncing around like a lovesick schoolgirl looking for a prom date is a big fucking deal.
a really fucking bad one.

While I can't imagine this all going well, it might not be the worst thing for trump and kim to strike up a bromance.

Guess what? Next on his 'World Dictators Tour' Trump wants to go make kissy face with Putin, maybe as early as this summer.
Bet we get some romantic pictures of him glad handing Putin in a garden and saluting the Russian generals.
www.newyorker.com/news/letter-from-trumps-washington/theres-no-stopping-him-trump-insists-on-a-russia-summit
Then he'll come back home in time to tweet offensively at the Canadians and throw some more immigrant babies into tent cities, 'cause who needs allies when you can get in bed with dictators.

I read a lot of foolish things, from stupid people with zero real life experience dealing with people in tough situations. I don't know what exactly it is about the election of Donald Trump that has driven so many people over the edge, but it's damn near a Mass Hysteria on a scale that we may one day look back and study. So it is especially refreshing to read something sensible from someone who understands the world as it is, rather than as they would like it to be, or as they fear it to be.
"After I graduated from law school, I applied for a Fulbright Fellowship to study economics in Hong Kong, which was under Chinese control. In my essay, I mentioned how I thought China could learn from Hong Kong's success. I showed the essay to the head of Cornell's Fulbright program. He told me to remove the line because it would imply that the Chinese government was doing something wrong. He said that it would result in the rejection of my application.
When I see people say that Trump should have confronted Kim Jong Un about everything that he did wrong, I know instinctively that Kim and his handlers would have immediately clammed up and stopped listening. Trump's description of Kim as a man who "loves his people" is a technique from Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Specifically, Carnegie says to lead people you must gain their respect by giving them "a fine reputation to live up to." Alternatively, Trump could have called his regime a "basket of deplorables" with predictable results." – Bryan L. Berson

I thought this video clearly shows we have become the divided states of America. A few years ago your head would have exploded if you thought President Obama was going to meet with a dictator. (As of when I am posting) Subject: #MAGA: KIM JONG UN DECLARES "END OF ALL HOSTILITIES"
Kim Un Jong does seem to be declaring an end to hostilities. I don't see how him declaring a victory impacts America's greatness in a positive way, but to each their own.

It is precisely the failure to notice what Trump was doing that led to his election.

#MAGA, yea right. More like #NKPTTT (North Korea Played trump The Tool). Satellite images show North Korea upgrading nuclear research facility: reportSatellite images from last week show that North Korea is making numerous improvements to the infrastructure at a nuclear research facility, according to a new study. The images, obtained by North Korea analysis outlet 38 North, come just weeks after President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed an agreement that called for a denuclearized Korean peninsula. The satellite photos indicate that North Korea is quickly progressing on several adjustments to the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center. So I've heard that the EU is afraid that Trump will have a conference with Putin soon and 'give away something significant.'
For instance, the US troops based in Europe, just like he gave away the Korean war games when Kim asked sweetly.
They have reason to be worried. For a guy who brags about how great his deals are, he total sucks at them.

"He [Kim] really has been very open and, I think, very honorable from everything we're seeing."Trump Believes Kim Jong Un Is 'Very Honorable' North Korea working to conceal key aspects of its nuclear program, U.S. officials sayU.S. intelligence officials, citing newly obtained evidence, have concluded that North Korea does not intend to fully surrender its nuclear stockpile, and instead is considering ways to conceal the number of weapons it has and secret production facilities, according to U.S. officials. The evidence, collected in the wake of the June 12 summit in Singapore, points to preparations to deceive the United States about the number of nuclear warheads in North Korea’s arsenal as well as the existence of undisclosed facilities used to make fissile material for nuclear bombs, the officials said. The findings support a new, previously undisclosed Defense Intelligence Agency estimate that North Korea is unlikely to denuclearize.
