Hmmm.... Trump says North Korea agreed to denuclearize. It hasn't.WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed North Korea has agreed to "denuclearization" before his potential meeting with Kim Jong Un. But that's not the case. North Korea said Friday it would suspend nuclear tests and intercontinental ballistic missile launches ahead of summits with the U.S. and South Korea. Kim also said a nuclear test site would be closed and "dismantled" now that the country has learned how to make nuclear weapons and mount warheads on ballistic rockets. But the North has stopped short of saying it has any intention of abandoning its nuclear arsenal, with Kim making clear that nukes remain a "treasured sword." Trump nonetheless tweeted Sunday that the North has "agreed to denuclearization (so great for World), site closure, & no more testing!" Being committed to the concept of denuclearization, however, is not the same as agreeing to it, as Trump claims. Complete article here: Trump says North Korea agreed to denuclearize. It hasn't.Don't let facts get in the way of Paul's gloating.

You know, I think it's funny when people complain about the liberals in their 'echo chambers' hanging out on their liberal websites only listening to what other liberals have to say.

Being committed to the concept of denuclearization, however, is not the same as agreeing to it, as Trump claims. Complete article here: Trump says North Korea agreed to denuclearize. It hasn't.There is some speculation that Kim is playing Trump like a drum, just like NK has done to past presidents; Trump just makes it easier to do, since it's so easy to flatter him and lead him into thinking he's such a fine negotiator.
Rosenberger said North Korea’s top officials know that Trump is particularly eager to chalk up personal achievements.
“So to me, the statement is trying to line up a favorable environment for that. He’s trying to butter up Trump in a very theatrical way and set him up for thinking it’s a win,” she said.
While many analysts worry that Kim might be able to pull the wool over Trump’s eyes and strike another deal that North Korea has no intention of honoring, the fact that both sides are able to head into the summit claiming to be in strong negotiating positions is a good thing, said McEachern of the Wilson Center.
www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/north-korea-is-setting-the-mood-for-a-summit-with-trump-and-that-is-progress/2018/04/21/bba5adc4-455c-11e8-8569-26fda6b404c7_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.04493da74545
I hope that NK is serious this time, and feels like it is secure enough in its military power it can focus on its economy. Maybe it can figure out how to avoid having so many citizens starve to death.

It's a good thing our board definitely isn't, say, 95% of the way to being an echo chamber. We value diversity of opinion here. Incidentally, it's "liberal", not "liberal". Even more incidentally, at least one Canadian TV station is running PSAs asking people not to use the word "retarded" as a pejorative. This would probably include "liberal" too.

I rarely use that word, so I don't know how to spell it; I agree it's a nasty nickname too similar to 'retard.'
I would use the word 'snowflake' instead, but lately it seems to it should be more appropriately applied to the far right fringe, whose members can't say a non-whiney thing about how the DOJ are being so mean to the Donald....

As I've pointed out to others, "snowflake" derives from the expression "special snowflake": somebody who believes their opinion is inherently special, valuable and something society ought to be made to respect. It doesn't refer to whining so much as it refers to insistence that authorities act to curtail whatever the "snowflake" finds offensive.

It was used to describe racists throughout the beginning of the 20th century.

Canada is just now telling people retard is rude? Wow. I thought you all were very progressive. Do you call people handicapped still too? It's been a mild taboo here since the 80's, but the term is still used a lot in informal conversation. Obviously somebody thought it was a good idea to remind Canadians that use of the word as a pejorative is indecent. "liberal" just makes no sense to me. Something like "leftard", which conjoins the 't's, or even Happy's "liberal" with 'tard' standing in for 'ty' at least don't sound forced. (Of course, "rightard" to describe an idiot on the political right is just... poetic.) But... somebody took the "lib" from "liberal" and the "tard" from "retard", stuck them together without any attempt to patch the seam, and here we are. One rightard and a bunch of liberals, discussing all the goings-on of the Washingtards.

Well, then I think 'special snowflake' fits Trump to a T, if it means people who insist authorities act to curtail whatever Trump finds offensive.
He was whining on the twitter thing yesterday about how Mueller's investigation was illegal from the start. "They can't investigate me because I'm emperor of the world!" or something like that.
Someone needs to tell him the POTUS is not above the law - he's not a special snowflake.

Are there any new font color="#e6193a", font style="font-weight:bold;" size="7" updates from the conservative treehouse about the Korean war ending this week?

You mean North Korea saber rattled and then backed down...like they always do? How unsurprising. The fuck are you talking about? They saber rattled, and then instead of rolling over and pissing ourselves like we always do- Trump said, "How about this: you knock it off or you get fire and fury". AND THEN DPRK not only backed down, but we have an agreement in principle to end a state of war which will have been going on for 68 years this July.

They seem to have agreed to disarmament in principle as well. The optimist and the realist in me are waging quite the war.

If peace does come to Korea, it will be because Trump had the cojones to call North Korea's bluff. Something our previous leaders?? have not been able to do!! If peace does come to the peninsula I believe there were many parts of the puzzle that made it possible, and all contributed .. China for one...North Korea very dependent on the good will of China for it's survival and I believe they put a lot of pressure on them to tamper down the rhetoric, get with the program and possible nuclear war or even a non nuclear one..[who knows what it that could escalate too] with thousands of casualties , damage...not what was wanted in this part of the world. The sanctions on the North were getting to be to much...latest of stopping ships on the high seas and interrupting military shipments also playing into the tampering down of belligerency.. His own inner circle...demands and even his own peoples needs may have entered into it.. and yes..Donalds brinkmanship may also played a part too....though if his brinkmanship had been the spark to start a back and forth with USA I wonder what your reaction would be. A macho one..."lets take em on ".....? Our last get together there cost us over 38,000 dead..millions of both sides dead...country completely destroyed...thousands of our sides wounded...and that was with basically WW2 weapons....today...?

Wow: Kim Jong-un Declares “End of All Hostilities” and “Open Road to Unified Korea”…
Posted on April 27, 2018 by sundance theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/04/27/wow-kim-jong-un-declares-end-of-all-hostilities-and-open-road-to-unified-korea/Absolutely stunning remarks today from North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un. Not only do both Kim Jong-un (North) and Moon Jae-in (South) discuss peace, but the DPRK actually goes the full-way-forward toward a unified Korean peninsular. Jumping ju-ju bones, these remarks are absolutely gobsmacking. Kim Jong-un remarks begin at 09:00 of video below. MUST WATCH:
