For some reason I thought cronewitch lived around there but maybe not. Nitza and shanendoah from CS/NS on WIR live around there.

Ooo thanks Wvu. I will have to email one of them and find out what areas have good schools for the kids. I will wait until we find out if he gets the job or not.

I'm sure nitza would be a great guide for schools since she's a teacher. Not sure if she made the switch and I'm not over there much anymore but I'm sure someone has her email address if he gets the job there.

Donna Freedman from the SS board lives in the Seattle area. I am sure she would share some tips on living there with you. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I actually have her email address. I don't know if she made the switch either. I rarely have time to post on this board let alone 2 boards. I only drop in every few months now. I love the ladies and I wish I had time to post, but I don't have much to add to the discussion right now.

Yeah I've been a pretty big failure at no spending since I moved up here lol. Maybe when I get done with this class I can get a grip on that area better. I know she was always busy and getting married and all but I'm sure she would answer an email.

Donna made it to these boards ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'm not super close, but maybe a 4 or 5 hour drive away and am planning on a trip or two up there this summer!

Yes, I live just outside Seattle, in the burbs. Please refresh my memory: Is Goose in the service? Do you know where he would be working/stationed?

Is Goose mustering out of the Service (at least I thought he was in) or relocating to another military post?

Trix, it would be a year away. We still have to do the year stint in Kansas. He just emailed me and asked what I thought about Seattle. I guess there is a job there that he can put his name in for. It will be awhile before we find out if he got it. I was just curious who lived near there that I could stalk...er...I mean window peep...I mean...have drinks with. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Angel, I'm 5 hours south, but spend a lot of time in Seattle. Love the city and the sound.

Bangor sub base is on the Kitsap pennisula, (west) and navy also has a shipyard Bremerton (southwest). The army and airforce are at McChord, in Tacoma (south). So...come on in, siddown, put your feet up and have a ![](http://us.social.s-msn.com/s/images/emoticons/martini.gif) while we look at school districts. There are some very good ones here. How old are your kiddles?

There are a number of us on the NS/CS board who are in the PNW, though I think nitza and I are the only ones in the Seattle area. Nitza hasn't made it over, though with the wedding and stuff, I don't think anyone's surprised. She did update her blog not too long ago, so she's still kicking, just swamped. School districts are a tricky thing up here. If you live in Seattle proper, you are in the Seattle school district, and you research schools and put in a request for which ones you want your kids in. Having an older sibling in a school guarantees a younger child a slot in the school, as well. The surrounding cities each have their own school districts, and some are zoned, some aren't. At the highschool level, there are charter schools all over the area. There are also a number of good private schools that are fairly reasonably priced. Here's the school guide from the Seattle times community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/schoolguide/

Shanendoah thank you for the information!! So helpful!! That is a weird situation with the schools. I don't think we would be able to afford private schools. We will be out of pocket about $500 a month on our mortgage plus whatever we have to pay in rent there. Rose-I DO want someplace warmer, BUT..I am a 90's Grunge girl!!!! Most of my favorite bands came out of Seattle! I think I could live with the cold for a chance to get to experience Seattle. I would actually be ok staying in Michigan if Goose was here with me and I didn't live in Mayberry. I NEED culture. I NEED nightlife. I seriously get depressed in small towns and rural areas. TD I would stalk you ANYDAY! I do think you need to wear an Indiana Jones hat though when/if I move there. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
