problem one {1} calling for help living alone Problem two {2} being removed from home or where ever without any ID problem three {3} the discharge from the hospital. EMT and medical people are only concerned with saving your life! no one! and I mean no one is concerned about the afterwards! meaning you are now about to be discharged from the hospital. you were brought in with clothes on. but the medical emergency to "save your life" your clothes have been cut off. you are now being released from the hospital. without any clothes, and no shoes! the hospital did their part and "save your life" which by the way. the hospital will send you the bill for "saving your life" the hospital is not going to provide you with clothes and shoes. you don't have someone you can call to bring you clothes and shoes. OH my! just had a funny thought! if a single person were on vacation. staying at a hotel. call the hotel for the rescue! Great now I'm thinking of how I drove from Michigan to Washington State back in 1997 and at the time I was more worried about creepy people at rest stops! I should have worried about ending up dead in the middle of Montana of natural causes! YIKES!! Anyway, you need to just have a bunch of your friends listed in your phone as emergency contacts. In this particular case I think going via ambulance was the only choice but if I had been shitting blood as you stated, I would have gone to ER the first time that happened. When you mention bloody stool you should move to the front of the queue. (If that doesn't work maybe say your chest feels tight.) No excuse me while I back my go bag.

→ What did you do? You've talked a lot about how no one helped you with all this stuff. Did you go home in a hospital gown? Didn't they provide you with pants/scrubs? How did you get home? And how did you finally get inside? to keep this short in hopes to prevent getting all upset. 1. I called my dad for help and a ride home. 2. Dad went to K-Mark and purchased sweat pants and a sweat shirt top 3. I wore the hospital socks with circle grips on the bottom of the socks. 4. The nurse didn't call for a transporter wheelchair to the front door lobby. I had to walk down myself with my dad. 5. When My dad confirmed he was on the way. I called my local police department to see if they will let me in my apartment. They said NO! LOL But, they did call my maintenance guy and gave him my cell number. I didn't give the police the number to call. I didn't know the emergency lock out number. 6. Maintenance guy did call me back! LOL so funny. stating he had the 911 police calling him that I am locked out of my apartment. I said yes! I am on the way home now. 7. Dad pulls up to the curb at my home. doesn't get out to help me. I seriously struggled trying to {a} balance walking; {b} not much strength in my legs {c} snow and ice covered stairs {d} ice hurting my feet {e} finally got inside the small hallway. is when my dad came to help me walk in and up the steps in my apartment. I live on the second floor.

Once after having surgery, when it was time to go home, it was a blizzard outside but I refused to put on shoes or my coat. I wasn't in a very good mood. -heh. The last time I came home from the hospital, after having stents put in for my heart, I was dropped off in the parking lot. They didn't even pull in to a parking place! Then there's a long sidewalk and 3 flights of stairs. They waved from their car when I got out. And I had to go to the pharmacy myself to pick up my prescriptions. LOL I'm glad you made it to the hospital and got home safely. I hope you are feeling better.

WOW. I am going to state here officially and unequivocally that I have the best friends in the world. Not only did the friend who took me in for cataract surgery stay with me the whole time and walked me back up to my condo (also second floor unit) by night time more than half of my friends had checked in to see if I needed anything. The other half called the next day to check up and offered to do whatever I needed done. There were also a number of repeat calls from the day before. I my friends!

If you have an Iphone, the included Health app lets you put that stuff in there along with any medications you are on and any recent medical information you think the EMT's should know (like in my case I have a history of DVT in my left leg so it is important that they know that). I also have my emergency listed as ICE and I think I put a number in front of it so it is at the top of my contact list.

We have a provincial Medicare card, Hospitals can access all that info from your card....previous hospitalizations, medications, allergies, etc. We carry them everywhere.

When I had my Stent put in. the doctor offered me a ride to the hospital. But I didn't think that it was an offer TO the hospital. ONLY! LOL now I am being discharged and I mentioned to the nurse to schedule the pick me up shuttle. {OH! yea. FYI! it was a shuttle bus, and he picked up 3 more people. totaling 4 of us. 1 of four was a older couple.} the nurse said it is best to have someone pick me up, or catch a taxi! because the shuttle bus is expensive!
so I called my Taxi & Limo service to come get me! I had them in my contacts! $60 / Limo / Mercedes -Benz C class

I get that your circumstances were far from ideal when you were released. But what is it you thought they should do for you after you were released? oh- I had no expections from the hospital. they, the hospital. I do have an understanding they are not responsible for me, other than medically making sure it is ok for discharge. 1. these TV shows are entertainment! LOL car accidents, being rushed to the emergency room, no ID, clothes are cut off, rushing, more rushing to 'save a life'. then off to the Intensive Care Unit for observations! which is what happened with me. 2. medical staff is happy they saved a life. patient gets better. better over the next 3 days! 4th day in the hospital. patient is great and good as new. 3. discharge for that patient. hospital did their part. they 'saved a life' now the patient is awake, of course, talking. offered is there someone we can call for you to get out of our hospital.
LOL it's nice to have met you. you don't have to go home. but you have got to get the hellz out of here!

There is an emergency SOS feature that you can turn on. If you click the sleep/wake button five times it brings up a screen to either call 911 and you can have your medical info accessed that way. But if you are unconscious they are just going to scoop and run with you and not mess with your phone.

I just notice! people in an emergency situation that jump in and take a ride to the hospital with the injured person in the ambulance. will be stuck at the hospital! actually both of them will have to find a way home. if, when the injured is fixed up that day or night.

We do have a van service for our rural area, you have to call the day before to schedule. It comes out of a distant city. In county its $2 each way, to another county $6 each way, could mount up money wise. I thought when hubs was gone I was going to have to use it but didn't . We have no taxi service or anything. We are actually very lucky to still have a hospital in our small county. We had been gone 30 years, people that would have helped you in the past no longer know you. That connection is broken so its tough. So far hubs and I are fine, now he has retired. It was very difficult for me when I was here and he was gone, MIL, was getting to far gone to be any help, scared me to death, especially when DD was out here in the country alone and I got sick. I managed to drive myself and take care of myself, but it was sketchy sometimes and no I should not have driven. Thankfully our roads are not heavily traveled.

My son took me in on Friday and stayed with me for cataract surgery. My friends all told me they'd be happy to do it if my son couldn't. If you don't have anyone with you, they won't do it. I was woozy from the Ativan and Versed, and took the phone off the hook when I got home.i wanted to sleep. Everyone called to check in on me. I my friends too!

It's really scarey I know. One time I lay here for a week, sick as a dog, to sick to drive to the doctors. One day I finally decided I had to, I managed to get there, she wanted to hospitalize me. I couldn't, DD was home alone, the doc was really worried, I'm sure I had or it was near pneumonia. How I did it, will never know, but managed to get to the pharmacy and home. That was a horrible time, I think I about died too. There was just no one to look out for her at that time.
I didn't know about the van service at that time, it was much later. Would see these vans around with signs on them, finally asked a guy at the filling station one day and he told me what he did and what they were for.
