I made some appetizers from the end of a bag of tator tots, shredded cheddar cheese and bacon that DH cooked on Sunday. Dinner was a salad and I made Budget Bytes unstuffed peppers. More fridge items got used up. DH is on his own this weekend. I'm going home to visit my family. There's leftover roast and there will be leftover pepper stuff. And people invite him to dinner like he's going to starve or something. Any time Mom is out of town and Dad is home she asks me to feed him. She has 2 refrigerators stuffed full of godknowswhat and an overflowing pantry. He won't starve but I have to feed him. My MIL went away her sisters in January. DH and his siblings and nieces and nephews either fed or went out with FIL every night. DH did eat the leftovers while I was away. He went out with his parents once and to a pool party.

I would also need the spiralizer with a handle, I'd cut something off or hurt my wrist doing that pencil sharpener one. It also seems like you wouldn't need to worry about veggie size either.

You can get it already spiralized in most grocery stores now. Heck, even Target has good variety. Although Publix and FM have all kinds of veggies spiralized. Save your fingers!

I've never seen frozen spiralized veggies. but if you foresee yourself cooking spiralized veggies more often than not, one of those gadgets will pay itself off very quickly. at least around here, the pre-done ones are obscenely overpriced.

I suspect that's how I'll feel about it when I look. I don't often do the pre-done ones either, I would rather save my money. I'll look and see just out of nosiness though.

OMG. They just opened a Jack's restaurant in our community. Most of you won't be familiar with this Southern chain. It is sort of like McDonald's, but it also offers unusual choices like porkchop biscuits, etc.
Anyway, I was coming home from the hospital and decided to try their "Big Jack" with fries for $3.99. I don't eat a lot of fast food, but I do like a Burger King hamburger now and then.
The grease dripped off the fries and the hamburger. The fries could simply be poor cooking, but I am sure the Big Jack is always like that. Too much mayo, too. It just all dripped until I threw most of it away.
I am not a foodie or even that anti-fast food. And I so wanted to throw up!
PSA: Avoid Jack's if it wanders into your neighborhood.

Reminds me when boss man's wife was headed to office and called ahead and asked if she could bring something to us for lunch. Our office was waaaayyyy out in the boonies!!
I don't even remember the place but he would tell her "tell them if they squeezed the grease out of burgers he would pay double" Don't do fast food so will have to google and see if we have one here.
We just got a Bojangles Chicken and Biscuit place I think and funny thing is we have a Bojangles already but it is a bar that does serve food too. Could get interesting for folks who don't know the difference and do gooders show up at bar for Sunday Lunch thinking they are at the other place!!
ETA: that sucks @bamafan1954 considering everything else that is going on with you.

A local grocery store has a hot food section and a nightly dinner special. Friday night is a half rack of baby back ribs for $9.99. I'll get two and pull together some sides. $25 probably but much cheaper than a dinner out. ETA: $31 for the ribs. We ended up feeding DH's nephew. He's helped him a lot with the patio. Sides were from the pantry and fridge vegetables that were use or pitch. Still cheaper it would be $100 if the three of us went to a dinner like that.

fridge cleanout night, I surveyed when I went home to let the pups out at lunch. cost - free I still have a bunch of pork tenderloin and au jus, as well as ciabatta bread and half a romaine heart already chopped. I may roast a broccoli crown, if I don't want all pork and salad.

Fri: Take out from? DH buys Bison and ground beef burgers on sauteed spinach and yellow squash. Approx $11
Sat: Out. $?.??
Sun: IDK yet $?.?? Anniversary seafeast: Crab legs, lobster tail, breaded shrimp. Approx $40. Cheaper than eating the same at a restaurant!
Have a fantastic weekEND, everyone.

I doctored an American Flatbread Herb and Cheese frozen pizza. I added chopped Vidalia onions, broccoli, chopped red peppers, fire-roasted diced tomatoes, more mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, a drizzle of EVOO, and a TON of my homegrown organic Basil.
Delicious...
Tip: allowing frozen pizzas to thaw (45 seconds in the microwave) before baking them makes them taste much better!

that's a good tip, GRG. earlier this week, I was lazy and doctored up a Papa Gino's frozen pie I bought at Market Basket. you could tell it was a Papa's, but you could very much also tell it was a frozen one. tonight, I had Thai takeout. spicy chicken noodle soup, and it melted my face off. rice noodles, chicken, and all of the amazing vegetables. I am so stuffed, and it was glorious.

I never had a frozen pizza that I liked...and I like pizza. Me too. The places we usually order out to have really become sucky. Need to find new places. That being said, last night was leftover sucky pizza. Tonight: Pork Tenderloin (sale) $2.98 Mashed potatoes, salad, green beans. Tomorrow: Unstuffed green peppers and salad. Est cost: $6.80 Will have leftovers for lunches.
Tue: Chicken, salad, rice and I think carrots. $9.00 est. Probably some leftovers. Weds: Thinking grilled burgers, salad. Not sure of a side. Est: $5.00
Thurs: Not sure, possibly fish.
Friday: Out. Trying to use up some freezer items and pantry items.

Either leftover Chinese or I'll end up eating something at my parents later. I usually end up over there drinking beer with my dad on Sunday.

I have no idea what is on the menu tonight. I pulled a bag of thin sliced BSCB from the freezer for use this week. I am determined to work through the back stock!
this morning, I was able to clear out a few open things in my freezer by making brunch for three of us. the last of a bag of tater tots, half a pound of bacon, and three open boxes of varied breakfast sausage. the pups helped, and we pitched a couple pieces.

Mine helped me get through some strawberries and pineapple this morning. Well, mostly Macy. She's a bottomless pit.

I found a quarter watermelon in the back of my fridge, I forgot I bought it yesterday. will have to have the pups help with that later. they have both been shitting chocolate pudding the past couple days, so maybe not too much for them.
we're being lazy watching the Food Network after brunch, Trisha Yearwood made Juicy Lucys last episode, roommate thinks he's making one for dinner. I can probably grill a turkey or veggie burger as well. and salad? last weekend I bought 2 packages of romaine hearts and haven't opened either yet. I should get on that.

Sunday night we stopped by DH's sister's on the way home. She fed us so free. Grilled BBQ chicken, salad and corn on the cob.
Monday night pan sauteed pork chops with a cherry sauce, oven roasted broccoli and a Knorr pasta side for DH. I'll have the leftover squash from Friday night.
Tuesday night we will grill steaks. I'll figure out sides later. The patio is finally complete so the grill can be moved from the edge of the back yard and used for the first time since May.

I'll probably finish the Chinese I bought over the weekend. I ended up eating a ham and cream cheese sandwich on everything bread yesterday. Tomorrow I'll actually make some food to have during the week.

dinner last night turned into a bowl of Kraft dinner at almost 9pm. so, salad is definitely going to happen tonight. I'm having a chicken Caesar wrap now for lunch, so I'll have to come up with some other variation for dinner. we'll see.
