I figured. I'm just getting the snark out here so I don't get myself slapped elsewhere.

if only I could read Russian... It says Boil In Bag Buckwheat. Ready in five minutes. Made with whole grain. Contains micro-nutrients. If you go into an ethnic store, just ask them to point you to the buckwheat. They'll know.

We can buy buckwheat in every grocery store here as well as health food stores. I bet even Wally World carries it. I get it at Target

DD had a cup of tomato soup, I had smelts, love those things. Hubs will be having leftover veggie or chili soup, easy tonight.

I figured. I'm just getting the snark out here so I don't get myself slapped elsewhere. I feel you! I'm tempering my snark prior to discharge but it's definitely going out there. When I've had enough, I've had enough.

as the day has gone on, I feel like I'm starting to get sick. boo... so, I went out in search of chicken soup. the hot bar at Stop & Shop didn't have that today, so I got a bowl of it from the refrigerated case and nuked it back at the office. it was sorely lacking compared to getting a bowl from the hot bar, I will not be doing that again. a few buffalo chicken bites came along for good measure. and then half a pint of Halo Top ice cream, because yanno, sore throat. I just want my pillow

Leftovers. Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, peas, and cranberry sauce. Can I come eat at your house? That sounds way better than roast.

Thursday night we had black bean pulled chicken over rice.
Friday I made Buffalo chicken dip and DH had leftovers.
Tonight is honey teriyaki chicken over rice served with a side of steamed broccoli since salad is a bad idea right now.
E coli is not the weight loss plan I had in mind.

E coli is not the weight loss plan I had in mind. seriously. I was not happy to pitch a $5 package of romaine hearts that I just bought yesterday from the neighborhood market. if I hadn't just had norovirus and all the pukies that come with it, I might have chanced the contamination.

I had wanted to put salad on the menu this week. My DH just had some kind of virus so I'm not risking it. And the CDC warning is pretty dire. The chicken is in the Crock-Pot and it smells heavenly.

I'm making roasted Brussels Sprouts, as a side for my fish later. Sprouts, butter, cumin, champagne vinegar, garlic, touch of brown sugar, red pepper flakes and Parmesan. I guarantee that there won'r be a single sprout left by the time I eat supper. I love those things, and keep "tasting" them.

I do wonder if I've just never had them cooked well. So many people seem to love them.

So many people seem to love them. that could well be. are you up for trying to cook them yourself? the way I grew up eating them is still my favorite, even if it's way easier to toss them in olive oil and stuff a sheet pan in the oven. trim the ends and halve large sprouts. parboil for 3-4 min. in parallel, in a fry pan, cook diced pancetta til the fat renders out. drain the sprouts and add to fry pan. toss with pancetta, add S/P to taste.

I have a stuffed mushroom thawing and I am going to chop it up and throw some veggies with it and turn it into a scramble for dinner. Another thing out of the freezer and using up even more frozen veggies I have on hand. Probably adding broccoli and bell pepper.

I had to return something at Market Basket this morning, and I noticed a sign up at the desk that indicated all of their romaine lettuce is grown in CA and not part of the salmonella warning. yay! so I picked up a bag of hearts and chopped one to bring to work tonight.
dinner will be a chicken Caesar salad. I sauteed three cutlets while I was chopping the romaine and tossing in some arugula and spinach leaves. one cutlet went into a sandwich on scala for lunch, another will get diced for the salad.

I had a piece of chicken left in the fridge from where I split a Sam's club pack up into smaller portions. I threw it in the skillet with a rosemary balsamic marinade and put a steamer thing of broccoli in the microwave. Cost maybe $2.50.
DH had leftovers from last night's dinner. I didn't have any.
Tomorrow night I will probably get something out. DH is going out with friends to watch the penguins game.

I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm not sick, not nauseated or anything like that. I've just had no appetite for the last few days. Today I had 3 small glasses of vegetable juice, and it's almost midnight.
I guess I shouldn't complain.

on Sunday, one of the crock pots was working on a pork roast for pulled pork. I sauced a little of it and froze that portion. the rest is unsauced for meals this week. I also mixed up an Asian slaw, with a soy/sriracha rice wine vinaigrette. last night, I made a burrito of the pork and slaw, with some white rice, baby spinach, and more sriracha. didn't realize the package of tortillas was so old, it was tough to roll the burrito due to it being somewhat stale. so tonight, I brought in a big container of salad greens and mixed up a salad with the contents of what would have been another burrito. that was pretty tasty, I will be doing that again! as for the tortillas, I'm bringing them back home. they are still okay to use for quesadillas.
