I have yet to figure out how to make just a little tabouleh. But I love it and change it up for the four meals that I eat it. Should add that it is my meal. would either of you mind sharing a recipe? there's a regional company here, where I can buy it pretty inexpensively, but I would love to know how to actually make my own. thanks! Finely-chopped parsley, a generous amount of chopped fresh mint, green onions, diced fresh tomatoes, diced cucumber, olive oil, S&P, and plenty of fresh lemon juice. A Tbsp of soy sauce for a hint of umami. Add your couscous or bulgher. That's how I make mine. It's not a cake. You can put in however much of an ingredient as you like.

Oh, use an English or Lebanese cucumber...... mostly flesh with very little juice or seeds. If you use a regular cuke, core it first. Otherwise, your tabouleh will be too wet and full of seeds.

I tend to go off the rails once I get bulghur or couscous cooked so I knew if you were looking for authentic tabouleh I was not the person to answer. I sorta treat it like stir fry in that I add what I have on hand at the moment I plan to eat it for a meal.
I add a tad of olive oil and lemon juice while still hot and add marinated artichokes. I stick in frig and when it gets cold I add feta cheese. I call that my "base"
I have added cranberries and walnuts to one meal, fresh chopped veggies to another meal - you get the picture. For some reason tomatoes are the one thing that all recipes call for that I don't like added in but that's just me.
Now you see why I said I'm not a purist when it comes to true tabouleh. I've even cheated and gotten a box of Near East Tabouleh Whole Grain and used it minus the seasoning package - funky taste the one time I used it.

It's looking like Old Mother Hubbard around here today. If I don't get myself to the store the only thing left to eat will be soup. The weather is miserable and after spending lazy summer like days in Florida, it's hard to get motivated to put back on the winter clothes and make the trek to Walmart. As I was walking up the jetway last night all I could think of was "I need to buy that condo in Florida that has caught my attention."

I usually make cold salads with couscous. like halved grape tomatoes and mozzarella bites, diced cuke, red onion and tossed with an Italian vinaigrette.
when doing anything other than slicing cuke rounds for a sandwich, I always core it first. since completing Invisalign, I hate seeds. they get stuck in places I didn't know they could. lol....

We have reservations at the Mexican place at the resort tonight.
We had our lobster dinner last night and it was so so. The chocolate cake was fabulous though.

DH really has been busy, so, cooking for one has really sucked. I'm working on my menu plan, because, 1/2 last week, although ready, didn't get eaten until the following day (sort of leftover) I did have Ribs made (had one, it was good). Have more, but, thinking for tomorrow night because there are a few things that I want/need to use up. Tonight: Unstuffed green peppers. (use up green peppers in the fridge) Green Pepper: Need to use Celery: Need to use Onion: Need to use Ground beef (already defrosted) $4.29 Rice: Pantry: ? Diced tomato and cheese. Salad Full cost, about $6.00. Will have leftovers. Guess that's what for lunch for me for the next couple of days. Monday: Ribs: Sale, $4.25, now ready to put in the broiler. (Added BBQ sauce) Boiled potatoes (some of a bag I bought on sale, .99/5#) Salad Have a choice of veggies, not sure what one yet. Thinking carrots. Tuesday: Never made the chili and cornbread. Still supposed to be cold here, so it's an option. Chili in freezer, Cost: ? Cornbread about $1.50 Salad. Weds: Chicken: (Sale, $1.69/#, boneless, skinless) Salad Thinking a pasta and ? Thurs: Not sure. Possibly pork? Fri: Maybe pizza? Have a good week everyone.

Last night, I was noshing and the phone rang. When I got back in the kitchen, Sushi the Destroyer had eaten most of my bowl of tabouleh! What the hell kind of a cat eats lemony parsley with tomatoes and onions? Damn!

Is that safe for him to eat? I know dogs can't eat onions and some other veggies, but don't know about cats.

Tonight is going to be something easy. I'm thinking hamburger stew except I'll use ground turkey instead of hamburger.

A girl at work gave me some buffalo chicken wings. I gave them to Thing 2 for dinner. I ate a bag of frozen veggies for dinner. Cost was $0.89. Yay!

I called off work today, for a number of reasons. I'm perfectly fine, albeit still not sleeping well since my routine got upended for 3 weeks. I'll blame that when I go back tomorrow, even if the real reason is something else.
tonight, roommate and I went to a local Italian place. I picked up a couple Cape "groupons" a few weeks back, but they aren't valid on F/Sat. that's fine, this place is outstanding......unless they are busy. I'd actually rather go when it's quiet. so we took $30 off the tab and had an excellent dinner and bottle of wine. we split a mixed greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette, then he had chicken parmigiano and I had chicken saltimbocca, both over pasta. the wine was a nice dry Italian red, a Nero d'Avola

I have a roast in the crock pot with some onions, potatoes, carrots, and onion soup. The leftovers will make pulled pork sandwiches tomorrow. The day after that they will be tacos.

Probably some sort of take out maybe pizza. It depends on if my DH is feeling better.
I have to make two batches of frosting, make a batch of chocolate chip cookies and make rice Krispy treats tonight. The monthly birthday celebration at work is tomorrow. And I just realized I need more plates. My stash here in the office is gone.

last night, I had a small salad and some of the dirty rice with pork I made Sunday for the week's batch meal. dinner tonight will be a bigger salad and a smaller portion of the dirty rice. and when I say salad most of the time, it's greens with a sprinkle of shredded parm and a little something crunchy. croutons, tortilla strips, crushed triscuit.

It will be leftover chili and vegetable soup. We need to eat it, not really enough to freeze so will be the end of both. Any letter over BJ will get it so little waste of foods here. Well he isn't much on veggies. LOL!

I use the boil-in-bag kind. Super easy. Also good to stuff a chicken, and the chicken juices saturate the buckwheat.
