Dinner: turkey breast, toast, cauliflower, carrots, peas and a yogurt. I'm just not up for anything more complicated tonight!

Tuesday night was spaghetti with cheesy garlic bread. Cost around $6-7.
Tonight I'm trying a new dish, egg roll in a bowl. Cost maybe $7 or so? That's for the vegetables I can remember the price on. Sausage is free to me. My brother and his best friend processed a pig and made sausage.
Thursday will probably be chicken something.
Friday is cheese tortellini with spinach tossed in.
Saturday we have dinner reservations at a seafood place.
Sunday we are supposed to do a kid dinner for his older nieces and nephews so tacos.

I may get takeout tonight. or eat from my desk/freezer stash. not feeling the options I have to bring in from home. lunch is pesto linguine with some chicken and veggies mixed in. I definitely don't want pasta salad for dinner later.

The choir church ladies are going to a new wonderful taco place tonight for dinner after choir practice. Mmmm....fish tacos! Love 'em. We had a great place near here, but it's gone downhill. It won't be in business much longer.

So much for tacos last night. We ended up at Mimis Cafe. Not as good as the last time we went there but still just as expensive. I don't think we'll likely go back.

Thinking breakfast for dinner tonight. Tummy not feeling right today. Not sure what I'm going to make for DH.
Tomorrow, shrimp, crabcakes and fries. Side of salad. Approx $10.
Sat night: Chicken pot pie. (leftovers, pantry items)
Sunday, not sure.

Hope you feel better, dogmom. I ended up having my leftover taco salad from lunch last night. DH had pot roast with a side of cantaloupe. I bagged up the rest of the roast for his lunches. Other than that, no other changes this week. I decided to make Fat Heat Pizza Saturday night. Tuesday I staved off take out pizza cravings (go me!) after a stressful work day, and this will be a healthier version. Sunday DH is going to smoke a huge pork something or other. Happy weekend when we get there, everyone.

Just baked a huge chicken breast last night. I have a white bean chili mix that I am going to make up tonight for dinner the next few days.

Lunch: Progresso Light Vegetable Soup, turkey sandwich, 1/2 and apple, cucumber+tomatoes. Surely the soup had to count as a veggie, right?
Dinner: collard greens, spinach, kale and chard. More turkey. Corn on the cob. Avocado toast. (That's 6 veggies)

I may make some chicken soup tonight, or we might say fuck it and go to the dive bar. there is still water in my basement, and we are just mentally exhausted. I'm not working tomorrow, I already called off for a "sick" day for insurance calls and whatnot. stick a fork in me, I'm done.

I'm thinking chuck roast with potatoes, carrots, onion, celery. Maybe some hominy or green beans on the side.

Pork tenderloin, sweet potatoes, salad, peas. Est: $8.00 Might be a few leftovers. Monday: Leftover night. We have pizza, chicken pot pie, and a bit of pot roast. (Garbage day Tues) Tuesday: Italian Beef Sandwiches, slaw, salad. Hard to estimate cost due to cost of beef, because, balance will be frozen for later use. Weds: Stuffed chicken breasts, asparagus, salad. Thinking angel hair pasta. Cost: $6.80 (Nice deal on asparagus, .69/#) Thurs: Either Meat loaf or Spaghetti with Garlic bread. Salad. (If meat loaf, add mashed potatoes and corn) TBD Fri: (Lent still). Still back at Shrimp, potatoes and salad. (me) DH, I may pick up a burger for him from Five Guys and just drool a little. Cost TBD. Have a good week!

dinner tonight turned out to be free. I picked up yesterday's tab at the sports bar, with the pair of to-go pizzas, as a thank you for the help I'd already gotten with the power loss. tonight, M and I went back to the same spot for dinner after we brought her mom's generator back. we split an order of chili nachos and we each took a calzone to go (her mom, my idiot roommate) and we had some drinks. M picked up the tab after being miffed about my not letting her pitch in the night before.

We went out for Peking duck last night. There was so much food, that each of the three of us brought home two containers of leftovers. $46.00 for three. A steal. Dinner is imperial cashew chicken, a bit of duck, some shrimp toast, rice, steamed veggies.

Monday pork tenderloin, roasted sweet potatoes, zucchini and red onion, and a salad. Cost $13-14 probably.
Tuesday chicken, some vegetable side and salad.
Wednesday leftovers night. Trash day is Thursday.
Thursday I will be using Chick Fil A coupons. DH has a work happy hour so he will eat there or grab something on the way home.
I'm leaving on Friday morning for the weekend. At one point DH was considering visiting a friend, I'm not sure.

Last night was DH's smoked pork belly with my mock tater salad on the side. YUM! I have no idea how much he paid for the pork. My salad cost approx $3.50 for 5+ servings. Tonight is garbage soup to clear out the fridge/freezer a tad: Leftover chicken from the freezer, leftover corn, broth, a piece of bacon and baby carrots from the fridge. 0.00 I tossed in a box of broth ($3? Purchased for holiday cooking and never used) and some rice (Free Friday download) from the pantry, and a ton of spices. We'll see how it turns out. I'll make some cheese bread for DH, and eat whatever since the soup has rice in it. Tomorrow night is caucus, so I'll graze from the mini fridge here at the office to avoid driving all the way home for food. 0.00 Wed: Zatarain's jambalaya with sliced sausage. DH will eat the jambalaya, I'll have stand alone sausage. Cost approx $4.50 for 3 servings. Thurs: White Castle Hamburger Pie Cost approx $5.41 for 4 servings. Fri: Take out from? Sat: IDK yet. Leftovers probably. Sun: Something in the big city before a concert. I'll let DH pay since I paid for the tickets and hotel room. Next week it's our 17th anniversary of meeting each other. Man has time flow by!

I'm not sure what tonight's plan is. when I got back from the dog park this morning, I got assaulted by the smell of soured meats when we walked in. so I took pictures of those price tags for the insurance claim. 3lbs of ground beef and a value pack of chicken thighs. $15 is $15. the claim is going to be for way more than that by the time it's all set.

LUNCH: Salad (cucumbers, yellow pepper, hearts of palm, tomatoes and shrimp), cooked greens (chard, kale, spinach and collard greens), broccoli and these weird zucchini/carrot things from Sprouts. That's 11 veggies for lunch!

I have all this stew meat in the freezer, and it doesn't look like I'll be making any more batches this year. If I do, it will be one more, and I have three packages.
So I looked for a recipe online and came up with stroganoff. You really have to trim the stew meat of all that fat, but the meat did come out really tender after 7 hours in the slow cooker. I used a can of cream of mushroom soup that was in the cupboard for the sauce and added some sliced mushrooms from the refrigerator.
It was really tasty. I'll have leftovers for lunch.

My mom used to make stroganoff all the time, because it could be done with cheaper cuts of meat (we were poor) and it always came out so tender and delicious. However, sour cream was a must.

Been overcome by a really bad case of cabin fever. Still too cold to cook outside...even if I could get to the grill under the snowdrift. Been thinking about doing foil packs inside in the oven. Hamburger patty , sliced potatoes, diced onion, some bell peppers, some veggies (corn/carrots/peas/green beans) throw in a can of your favorite creamed soup (celery, or mushroom) all wrapped in aluminum foil. Set at about 350 degrees and wait for the packet to swell and sizzle. Won't be the exact same as outside over a campfire....but may just subdue the craving till better weather gets here.
